SHAMEFUL!

The head of Homeland Security, Noem, doesn't know what Habeas corpus is.  We have idiots running the country! (But she knows how to do fake eyelashes, hair extensions, and cosplay!) Y'know, the important stuff.

HASSAN: What is habeas corpus? NOEM: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country HASSAN: That's incorrect

  1. We have idiots running the country.

A truer statement has never been made.

Almost 4 more years of such ignorance and idiocy.

Maybe by then the vast majority of American MAGA will have finally had their share of "winning".

  2. Habeas corpus has certain limitations. The petitioner must present a prima facie case that a person has been unlawfully restrained. In some countries, the writ has been temporarily or permanently suspended on the basis of a war or state of emergency, for example with the Habeas Corpus Suspension Act 1794 in Britain, and the Habeas Corpus Suspension Act (1863) in the United States. Nonetheless, the right to petition for a writ of habeas corpus has long been celebrated as a fundamental safeguard of individual liberty.

    ICE is unlawful. Who knew?

    1. -FJ, your definition of Habeas Corpus is global, not specific. Per the US Constitution it is defined as the legal principle that requires that the government provide a public reason for detaining and imprisoning people."

Yes, ICE is unlawful because they don't identify themselves as law enforcement, they don't give badge numbers, and for the most part they've yet to proffer arrest warrants because that takes a judge so they've been issuing administrative warrants which their supervisor issues - no evidence required. All out of the public eye which is not in alignment with Habeas Corpus.

You, our many faced troll, say words which sound true but once one does some research one realizes you are an extremely deceptive human. I know you live with your many selves very well but ick, your mind could have been focused on the good instead of this dreck you peddle. What a waste.

  3. -FJ... if what you say is true, I'm sure the Trump administration has someone, anyone who can make that case in a court of law. Yet not a person has stepped forward to do so.

Tell us why the Trump Admin is not making that argument in court, as opposed to the afternoon news and opinion shows?

  4. Shaw... here's shameful... just this afternoon, sounding powerful and truthful, asserted that Congo has emptied their prisons of all their violent criminals and sent then to the US.

That is 100% patently false. Yet his supporters will lap it up.

    1. Tren de Aragua wasn't formed in the city of Maracay in the State of Aragua. It was formed in Tocoron Prison in the State of Aragua. The train was never completed, but the gang's criminal activities now make far more money than a completed railway line would have ever collected.

    2. "There's no credible evidence that Venezuela emptied its prisons and sent prisoners to the United States.

The claim originated from a Breitbart News article citing an unnamed source within Customs and Border Protection, without providing any substantial evidence.

Fact-checking organizations like PolitiFact have debunked the claim and found no corroborating evidence.

Experts on Venezuela have stated that such an action is highly unlikely due to the Venezuelan government's limited control over its prison system and its efforts to encourage Venezuelans to return to the country, according to The New York Times.

The Venezuelan government has, in fact, been focusing on initiatives to encourage Venezuelan migrants to return to the country.

There is no evidence to support the claim that Venezuela emptied its prisons and sent prisoners to the United States. The claim is based on a single, unsubstantiated report and has been widely debunked."

    3. Sure, don't post my tren de aragua post that proves it.

  5. Who is supposed to provide the evidence you speak of. It certainly isn't the press because they have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are either totally incompetent or totally liars or both.
So where is proof that the statement in breitbart is not correct.

What trump needs now is to announce he has cancer and then, like david axelrod proposed, Biden discussion should be ‘set aside’ after cancer diagnosis.

    1. The NYTimes for example is often treated as the gold standard for a reason.

They have an integrity policy, which they post publicly, discuss openly and modify openly.

They issue Corrections, sometimes 50 years after the printed error
They cite sources, usually by linking to them, or by citing specific people by name.

When you check on those sources, they agree with what the article said.

They also tend to agree with the total characterization.

Bias on the other hand is a poor measure. Left/right bias is flawed in part because left and right can be defined fiscally, socially, or by party, and the political spectrum is far more complex. The truth also simply has winners and losers: If a candidate lies, a publication should not be called biased or unfair for noticing. What matters is the publication’s clear duty to the truth.

So: Let’s measure Breitbart. Do they have an integrity policy? No. Can’t modify it openly if they don’t have one, so another point against.

Do they issue corrections? Here’s a (false) article that remains on their site uncorrected, not even a note from the Editor. It is one of many. However, they do issue the rare correction. Bizarrely they seem to be mostly when they’ve upset another far-right website.

The rest - citing sources, being very specific about it via links and specific people you could follow up with, and agreeing with those sources’ total characterization - are reflected on well by looking at this fact-check of another false story on Breitbart. The article pretends the date is years different from the original article, and asserts multiple facts that are disputed by the original article. They do at least link to a source this time, but it’s common to find articles where they do not.

Conclusion: As news sources go, they’re somewhere around the bottom of the barrel. There are sites out there that have only false stories, so, they’re not the bottom. Just, very near it.

  6. Breitbart is the only site that reported this. Breitbart has reporters, just like the press. You said the press has "proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are either totally incompetent or totally liars or both."

Breitbart News does not always report the truth. It has been criticized for spreading misinformation, promoting conspiracy theories, and making false claims. For example, Breitbart News has been accused of promoting the "birtherism" conspiracy theory about Barack Obama's birthplace and the debunked Pizzagate conspiracy theory.

Breitbart News has published a number of falsehoods and conspiracy theories, as well as intentionally misleading stories, including a story that the Obama administration had supported ISIS during insurgency against the Syrian regime.

PolitiFact searched the websites of the DHS Office of the Inspector General, DHS and CBP and found no public reports or mentions of Venezuela’s government releasing prisoners and sending them to the U.S.

Politifact also reached out directly to DHS and CBP asking whether the report existed and whether we could have a copy. The department and agency did not provide an on-the-record response confirming or denying the report’s existence.

  7. skud always talks about covering up Biden's failing cognition, but has nothing to say about the mentally ill man currently in the WH. Who's in charge. If it's Trump we're headed for disaster:

    Today:

    His response:

"These are all very blue states that I don't really believe had honest elections. I think I would've won California, I would've won New York. I even think I would've won Illinois."

Trump claims he could have won California. Democrats hold a significant lead over Republicans in voter registration. Approximately 45% of registered voters are Democrats, compared to roughly 25% who are Republicans. This indicates that there are nearly twice as many registered Democrats as Republicans in California.

The New York and Illinois claim is equally insane. Trump has lost his mind. The Heritage Foundation is probably in charge of this country, certainly not the mentally ill Trump.

  8. For him to claim he would have won Calif and NY he is way delusional because Calif is so far out of control they will never convert to rational thinking. They did that once with RR but have since reverted back to only the rich thrive. Now they will have kamala for governor and just go further left ignoring the middle class. If you took away the coasties Calif is conservative but the population is concentrated along the coastal cities and they are BSC.

    1. California has the 4th largest economy on the planet. You trash it because it’s a liberal state, and that’s all you’ve got. Like every state, it has its problems. But unlike many of the red states — run by Conservatives, it gives more money to the federal government than it takes.

A state that is “ out of control,” as you put it, would not be able to be the FOURTH largest economy in the world.

“California’s economy is growing at a faster rate than the world’s top three economies. In 2024, California’s growth rate of 6% outpaced the top three economies: U.S. (5.3%), China (2.6%) and Germany (2.9%). California’s success is long-term –the state’s economy grew strongly over the last four years, with an average nominal GDP growth of 7.5% from 2021 to 2024.

With an increasing state population and recent record-high tourism spending, California is the nation’s top state for new business starts, access to venture capital funding, and manufacturing, high-tech, and agriculture.

The state drives national economic growth and also sends over $83 billion more to the federal government than it receives in federal funding. California is the leading agricultural producer in the country and is also the center for manufacturing output in the United States, with over 36,000 manufacturing firms employing over 1.1 million Californians. “

“Out of control?” Sounds damn good to me.

  10. And several of its large cities have a thriving middle class.

“Despite a steady decline in the middle class across the majority of the U.S., a handful of cities have begun to see the opposite. According to a new study, California in particular has several cities where the middle class appears to thriving.

MoneyGeek analyzed over 600 cities in the U.S. and found that the middle class is growing by 40% in those cities. Five California cities finished ranked in the top 10 of cities that saw the most growth since 2018.”

You seem to have a lousy opinion of California based on faulty information, since the research I did shows your opinions about the Sunshine State are all wrong. It’s obvious to me that you have a poor opinion of California only because it’s run by liberal government, which,BTW, is doing a darn good job. And that’s not just an opinion, it’s a fact.
