Not one mention of the military men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice serving our country.
The people who still support this deeply sick malignant narcissist need to look within themselves to understand why they tolerate this level of disrespect and idiocy in Trump.
This made me sick to my stomach. That was a normal reaction. Anything else, IMO, is not normal.
"On Memorial Day, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Donald Trump bragged about the World Cup, the Olympics, and the 250 year anniversary of the start of the Revolution: 'Look what I have. I have everything… God did that. God did it.' ”
Disgrace has lost its meaning."
This is a good explanation for why 30+% of the American people continue to support the convicted felon, sexual assaulter, liar, cheat, and fraud:
I posted this earlier today at Dave's site. It's from The Bulwark and is an interesting take on Trump and his rant you shared, about the day when we honor the fallen for their ultimate sacrifice to America and her ideals...
ReplyDelete"This sort of thing [his 2025 Memorial Day Truth Social post] is by now par for the course with Trump, for whom every holiday is an angry Festivus. Happy Easter to “all the people who CHEATED in the 2020 election,” Merry Christmas to “Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada,” happy Thanksgiving to “Radical Left Lunatics who have worked so hard to destroy our Country.” Last Memorial Day, the object of his “Human Scum” invective was the “Radical Left, Trump Hating Federal Judge in New York” who had presided over E. Jean Carroll’s defamation trial against him."
Again, we're left with what would the response to this type of stuff had these quotes come from Presidents Obama or Biden?
I'll just say it... any response that does not register disgust with Trump for this is from someone we should not respect nor should receive the benefit of the doubt as it relates to respect for our military and love of our country.
I can't help but think that the Trump supporters who read his disgustingly inappropriate rants on these solemn occasions are secretly as appalled as we are. The difference is their allegiance is to a deeply flawed, immature, and dishonorable man, not their country. Those folks still haven't come to terms with that truth. And that's why Trump is still the disaster we normal folks are left to deal with.
ReplyDeleteIn any other honorable country, Trump would have been long gone. But there are powerful institutions, organizations, and people who are using him to advance their authoritarian agendas.
Trump may be the useful idiot that powerful organization and people are using Shaw. However, from his history and record it is very likely it is also his beliefs and preferences. They recognized that in him and simply understood how to exploit his narcissism to expedite their authoritarian Christian Nationalist agenda.
ReplyDeleteYour comment seems to be the only logical explanation for why otherwise normal adults have put this functioning illiterate and malignant narcissist in charge of this country.
DeleteBut what do I know. I didn't go to any BBQs yesterday. I sat all day playing with my computer thereby subsidizing the Information Economy with free cloud-serf labour. No holiday/ Dionysia for me!
ReplyDeletePresident of some - Revenge politics - note: a lot of Trump voters affected.
ReplyDelete"Two Trump administration actions have affected Corps funding.
The first is a nearly $1.5 billion reduction in funding for the Corps’ civil works between fiscal year 2024 and the current federal fiscal year ending Sept. 30.
The second is a move by the administration to shift hundreds of millions of previously committed dollars from civil works projects in Democratic-controlled states to Republican-controlled states. The State of Washington
black listed.
Shaw... I'm shocked, shocked I tell ya... to see that not a single right leaning, conservative patriot has stepped forward to condemn or cheer the Memorial Day message from President Trump.
ReplyDeleteI believe they love America and, while occasionally overly focused on petty grievances, have shown true love of country on all the requisite holidays in the past. But this year many of the conservatives who post here and on some of the blogs we read for some reason, had nothing to say about President Trump's own words.
Perhaps Christian martyr and Lutheran Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer who was executed by the Nazis for choosing to publicly oppose their march across Germany and Europe said it best...
"Silence in the face of evil is itself evil"...
in 2010, President Obama decided to skip the wreath laying ceremony at Arlington, send VP Biden and go himself instead to the National Cemetery in his home state of Illinois. While several veteran's groups had no trouble with this, and publicly said so, prominent conservatives found it unconscionable, among them Erick Erickson then of Redstate.com and CNN, mostly speaking for the blogging class. Here's what he wrote...
President Obama "going to Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns has ... everything to do with a Commander in Chief who seems to not like the military showing some basic respect to the men and women, alive and dead, who have actually kept us free..."
Couldn't the same be said about Trump's 2025 Memorial Day Truth Social post? Couldn't it be said that in his post, Trump did not show "some basic respect to the men and women, alive and dead, who actually kept us free"?
While Presidents Reagan and George HW Bush also did not go to Arlington regularly on Memorial Day, apparently it became a grievous sin for Obama to also not do so. And conservative bloggers across the country reacted as expected to Erickson's comments, branding Obama as an America hating extremist devoid of "basic respect to the men and women, alive and dead, who have actually kept us free".
Was it all political? Has conservative love of country and respect for our soldiers been a ruse all along, just something to be used as a cudgel when Dems and lefties don't fall into the conservative line of patriotic American?
I'm not sure, but their silence over a lack of recognition and respect of our fallen soldiers in his 2025 Memorial Day post speaks volumes. Especially when many, including some who've posted here in opposition to Dems, wrote, reposted and shared posts like this back in the day...
Geeez...
@ Dave -I did a post on Bonhoeffer, too...
DeleteIt's hard to fake that which you are not. Trump is simply showing Ametica and the world who he truly is. As are those making up the CULT of MAGA.
ReplyDeleteEVERY Trump voter betrayed our rule of law, our country and the sacrifices of our fallen.
ReplyDeleteAll of this just to inflict their cruel punishments on decent Americans they hate.
When it all goes to hell, they will blame Democrats.
