No, Trump is negotiating and taking the best deal he can get from Congress. Elon wants perfection, and is calling out Congress. Trump and Elon are on the same page. Trump's a realist, Elon, an idealist.
Trump isn't a realist. He's a NOTHING. He has no ideals, no political philosophy, no understanding of how tariffs work, no policies to benefit all Americans, no knowledge of our country's history. He's being manipulated by the oligarchs and plutocrats who are running the country. If you actually believe Trump is anything but a malignant narcissist interested only in enriching himself and his family and a creep who spent his life breaking laws and being an immoral scoundrel, then you're as deluded as the rest of the Trumpian maniacs.
The rest of the knowledgeable world sees him for the greedy lying liar that he is.
Joe... are you saying the best deal Mr Art of the Deal can get from Congress is to increase our deficit over $2 trillion a year? Are you saying that's realistic?
I'm not a big fan of Musk and in this case, his concern seems to be more on how his private companies will fare in this budget. But that does mean he is not correct in his view that the debt will continue to increase under this the OBBB budget bill.
Look no further into the bill than this... if Speaker Johnson is so sure the OBBB will not explode the deficit, why is the GOP including a $5.5 trillion debt increase in the bill?
If the bill will not increase the national debt there will be no need for a debt increase. Speaker Johnson wants that provision in this bill so as to avoid a nasty, public fight to raise the deficit limit coming out just in time for the mid term elections.
The bottom line is this... currently we are spending $2-2.5 trillion more on a federal level than we are taking in. Cutting that difference will crush our economy and lead to untold financial pain, ruin and instability for millions of American families.
We need to increase taxes AND legislate spending caps on the feds.
There is no other way to avoid the disaster Musk sees ahead for the US.
Let's add this to the budget mess the GOP is presenting the American people.
It's being reported by Politico and other outlets that "Trump administration officials delayed and redacted a government forecast because it predicts an increase in the nation’s trade deficit in farm goods later this year, according to two people familiar with the matter."
Trump's own government is predicting how much this will negatively impact the nation's farmers trade balance.
Yet Trump and his team are working to keep this report from seeing the light of day. Because they disagree with it.
Now, some astute MAGA lovers will point out that Trump and his team can be right in their view that the report his Admin is covering up is wrong or incorrect. But if that were to be believed, maybe those MAGA folks will answer us this...
If Trump believes those reports are wrong and farmers will not be negatively impacted, why is his administration increasing socialistic government subsidies to farmers out of concern for their financial state and to lessen the pain?
You see folks, what we have here is a contradiction that exposes the idiocy of the GOP OBBB and their financial policies.
Dave, I agree with what you say with the exception of increasing taxes. Graduated flat tax based on income would be a better answer eliminating All deductions which would punish the wealthier and giving everyone a chance to participate. What we really need is to cut spending much like most do in their lives. I do see trump didn't eliminate the DoE that would cut spending and actually improve education unless you are one who believes spending 120 billion to give away 65 billion and have declining results make sense. Tax and spend needs to end.
Inevitable class of colossal egos
