JUST A NOTE OF INTEREST:
I'll be gone for most of the week with my French family. They arrived Saturday and told us that their friends asked them why they would choose to visit the US now. They've been visiting here for over 40 years, and this is the first time anyone has questioned them on why they'd come to the US. Note: This is under the Trump regime.
Also, they were very careful to delete ANYTHING they had on their phones that would have hinted of anything anti-Trump. And here's the worse part: They told me they rehearsed something to say if the customs people asked why they were coming to the US.
This never, never happened in all the years they've been visiting me in the US.
Trump has done this and the people who support this authoritarian criminal are complicit in what has happened to this country.
They will live to regret what they've done. History guarantees that.
These days the only visitors they like are white Afrikaners. Back in my day I gave a lab tour to some French Interpol officers. They nodded and smiled and when the tour guide left, he told me they didn't speak English!

ReplyDeleteI've read too many news reports of what happens to visitors to the US, the illegal holding, the lack of any explanation, the failure to allow lawyers and family any contact with the one being held. I'm beyond glad your family was able to clear customs. That said I won't be able to really relax until I know they are home safe in France, just saying.

ReplyDeleteAnd everyone here, except Skud and -FJ/JC/Thersites is a thought criminal. We do NOT love Big Brother. We are the "enemy within" according to Trump.

"We have some very bad people, we have some sick people, radical left lunatics. And I think they're the -- and it should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard or, if really necessary, by the military," Trump said. "Because they can't let that happen."
When a criminal neo-Nazi dictator calls you the enemy within, you're not paranoid. You're a target.
