ReplyDeleteI mean, their religious views are black and white with no room for anything in the middle. They have compassion for folks who worship, hold political views, and look like them but no one else. They lack curiosity about the world around them. And most importantly, if an issue doesn't affect them directly then the issue is of no concern to anyone (they are incorrect but they won't accept the concept until the issue affects them).
Ensuring sexual predators are held to account is an something I care about deeply as do other commentators here. That our trolls do not I used to take almost personally because my logic could not sway them. Now I know they are born that way and can't help their callous ways.
Still don't want those kinds of folks anywhere near the levers of power but since they are currently in control I've strapped myself in because the train never goes where the authoritarians or theocrats thinks it goes. Think sowing the seeds of their own demise kind of outcomes. Yep, strapped in with lots of cushions because the crash will be epic.
I know, I'm making light of what is dead level serious but that's how I deal with things that are too heavy. It's a coping technique I picked up when dealing with the last years of my husband's life. Cancer is so ugly at the end so gallows humor got the both of us through.
Since none of us has any control over the events affecting us (we actually have less control than we THINK we have) it makes sense to simply accept we have no control (until conditions and circumstances change) and travel with like minded folk and do whatever your comfortable doing to try to facilitate the changes many seek.

Resistance does not mean one is unpatriotic. Quite the contrary, it means you love your country enough to want to make it better for all. Nothing is more patriotic than that.
As for religion. A personal choice. The government and the educational system should both be totally silent on religion. Period. Full Stop .
The sooner tRump and his fawning power Hungary sycophants in the government are gone the better. Given what we're seeing from MTG perhaps the MAGA wall is cracking. Maybe the people are beginning to wake up and things will start shifting in a responsible direction.

We may reasonably doubt the fraudulent, multiple indicted, convicted felon, obsessively vengeful, insurrectionist, and Criminal President Trump will be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. Also, it’s not lost on the Nobel Committee that he praises dictators, pardons thugs, orders extrajudicial killings on the open sea, sends the military to occupy Democratic cities over the objections of mayors and governors, accuses the political opposition of being the “communist, terrorist enemy within”, orders Black representative districts to be eradicated by racist gerrymandering, and weaponizes the Justice Department for his personal retribution against public servants who honorably performed their jobs.
Also, Trump's LIE that climate change is a "hoax" won't win any Nobel prizes either. History will judge him for that alone.
The list just keeps getting longer.

You can't see it, of course, but Trump IS among the more authoritarian regimes where democracy is in retreat.
Tyrants do NOT deserve the prize, and the Nobel Committee knows it.

It’s a start but there are so many parts of the plan that need to be agreed on before peace can be proclaimed by Trump or anyone.
