That said, one of the lessons of K Pop: Demon Hunters is that if old protections don't fit the here/now then the old must be replaced with new protections. And the movie did it with a soundtrack that is infectious.
Our claims of liberty and equality for all never applied to all. Too many humans slipped through the cracks or even worse were tossed into those cracks because only males of a very pale hue were historically allowed access to levers of power.
We must do better because we know better.
Again I know it's bad out there and it doesn't help that MAGA is just full of themselves. They take joy from our anger and dismay when immigrant grandparents, parents, and children are yanked from their lives and deported to places unknown, throwing their work, money, and time invested in becoming a citizen into those aforementioned cracks. And creating new enemies as the teaching stories predict. You think a kid terrorized in Chicago will ever recover from that trauma? Plays have been written over less transgressions.
The French have some very good advice for us. WeThePeople need to protest every day to bring about change. With so many out of work either through the DOGE firings or our government shutdown that day may be closer than anyone can predict. Add in the ripples of restaurants losing customers, hospitals closing, and retail sales stalling; the costs will add up quickly.
Side note: I'm not saying things aren't going to get worse. It is the nature of a bully and dictator (paging S. Miller, 5 minutes to curtain) to escalate every situation and worse is the only speed they know. However, the raid on that building in Chicago is attracting unexpected attention.
What do I mean? Follow the money, always follow the money. It's weird how the buildings raided by ICE in both Aurora, Colorado and Chicago, Illinois were both owned by slumlords facing foreclosure or fines by their respective cities but once ICE raided the place and removed all the occupants each property was quickly sold off to developers, almost as if by magic.

I am for making the government more efficient and that will probably result in a smaller government workforce. I thing we should start with congress and cut the senate and house in half but not sure that would work. Just like term limits and not profiting from inside information which is protects by the protected crooks act.

I did not write that healthcare would be "cut," I wrote that the CR "...threatened and endangered healthcare coverage." And THAT is TRUE. Under the CR, healthcare premiums would double, which in many cases, would be unaffordable for millions of Americans, so they would lose their healthcare.

Bondi was Florida's AG when Epstein & Maxwell were running their sex-trafficking/rapist business out of Palm Beach. When a massive child sex ring was taking place in Florida, Bondi did NOTING to pursue Epstein or his co-conspirator Maxwell. Even after the Miami Herald released a bombshell report in November 2018 that “identified about 80 women who say they were molested or otherwise sexually abused by Epstein” involving a “cult-like net of underage girls” recruited in various parts of Florida--Bondi did NOTHING! If a newspaper like the Miami Herald could find that out, certainly Bondi as AG had even more resources to investigate. The investigation into the Epstein sex-trafficking ring was initiated by prosecutors in New York.
Why didn't Bondi investigate child the sex-trafficking/rapist business in Palm Beach? Can you answer that?
In 2011, Bondi happily accepted Trump's $25,000 "contribution" to her re-election campaign when she was serving as attorney general of Florida. Her office declined to investigate allegations of fraud against his for-profit school after receiving that "contribution" from Trump.

ReplyDeletein every single southern state, insurers are asking for at least 29% increases in premiums. What will happen, as MTG has pointed out, is many, unable to afford the increases will choose to forgo insurance.
None of this per se is connected to the requested increase in the debt, and the GOP has said they will negotiate with Dems about this after a clean CR is passed. However Speaker Johnson has poisoned the well by lying in the past, as explained by some of his own party's members.
So should Dems trust a GOP leader to actually negotiate when there are those within his own party who don't trust him?
One last thought for the Skuds of the world. As Minority Leader McConnell was happy to point out as he gummed up the workings of the Obama Admin, one party controls all the levers of power, the GOP.

DeleteMust we wait for Trump's policies to affect his MAGA supporters before they all wake up to what he's doing to us? MTG (good for her in this instance) is talking about how people's healthcare premiums will double or more if the CR is passed without the changes the Dems want in it.
She's upset because this will affect her family. The soy farmers complained about Trump's tariffs because they lost their markets -- Trump's policies affected their pockets.
Do I understand this correctly? The only time our fellow Americans will speak out against draconian laws and policies by the Trump administration is if affects them?

Bondi put forth several hours of "I know you are but what am I" level discourse, acting like a middle school brat while attempting to evade and cover up real questions of corruption in the administration.
This is the Attorney General of the United States of America. We should expect more than pre-teen childish behavior.
