Vice President Vance accused ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos of caring about a “fake scandal” regarding White House border czar Tom Homan on Sunday.
Stephanopoulos, during Sunday morning’s edition of “This Week,” asked Vance whether Homan kept or returned a reported $50,000 bribe. Vance deflected, saying the media is “going after” Homan “because he’s doing the job of enforcing the law.”
Armand Domalewski:
There is absolutely zero chance JD Vance would describe a Biden administration official accepting a $50,000 cash bribe in a paper bag as "fake scandal"
“There is absolutely zero chance that a man who took $50,000 in cash in a paper bag from an FBI agent on camera would have been appointed to any position by any other president.” — George Conway
George would never say or report anything that was not truthful so I believe what he reported. I do remember him reporting on the pass through bribes from hunter to joe and family.
ReplyDeleteTrumps biggest fault is he is a narcissistic jerk who unfortunately gets things done and won't let anyone forget it.
No matter how hard the democrats try to stall trump from doing anything they just make themselves look foolish.
Accomplishments:
Stop the surge at the border, the same one thing biden said he couldn't do, Round up and deport illegals,
Put equal tariffs on countries who impose them on the U.S.,
Take a stand to protect American citizens,
Reduce regulations that punish American Businesses and serve little purpose, Get NATO countries to pay their FAIR SHARE,
Brokerage a peace deal in a conflict biden started.
What have the democrats done to help the American people.
Shut down the government because they can't have a couple trillion to waste and they refuse to allow time to negotiate.
I remain a non trump supporter but sure am glad he won instead of the author and chief oh woe is me, took over that title from -H-. Lose then write a book why none of it was your fault.
skud, it grieves me to read what you wrote and to understand that you have given up your American values and ideals for what YOU think is "getting things done," without any regard for what Trump and his administration is doing to the rule of law.
DeleteHow quickly you have ceded your liberty to an authoritarian! You don't see it, I'm sure, but YOU are exactly the sort of person Trump, the Heritage Foundation, and the rest of the anti-democratic, anti-American authoritarians were counting on to look the other way as they dismantle our county's norms.
Apparently you see nothing wrong with Trump disregarding the separation of powers as he uses Congress as a rubber stamp and allows those weaklings to grant him his every anti-democratic edict.
I'm still counting on those Americans who care more for preserving our democracy than you do to resist the evil that is happening daily.
If Mr. Shaw Kenawe were alive today, he'd be proud of his alma mater, MIT. That Institute DID NOT give in to Trump's authoritarian demands!
Delete"The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has rejected a Trump administration proposal which detailed policies to follow in exchange for preferential access to federal funds.
In a letter to US Education Secretary Linda McMahon, MIT's president Sally Kornbluth said the proposal would "restrict freedom of expression" on campus and was inconsistent with the university's core values.
Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Texas were also approached by the administration to sign the deal.
It would see universities cap foreign admissions, restrict university leaders' comments on political events, and adopt a binary definition of gender.
"...restrict university leaders' comments on political events..."
Skud, do you know anything about how authoritarians take over a country? Do you?
One way is to control universities by imposing restrictions on what its leaders can say about the government and telling them what they can and cannot teach.
The Trump administration is actively working to influence and impose control over colleges and universities through a mix of executive orders, funding conditions, and threats of punitive action.
If you don't understand where this is going, I'll let history tell you, skud:
"Fascist governments took control of colleges and universities in Italy and Nazi Germany, systematically dismantling academic freedom and restructuring institutions to serve state ideology. Control was achieved through purges of faculty and students, the imposition of loyalty oaths, and the radical revision of curricula to conform with fascist doctrine."
Skud's idea of "getting things done":
DeleteThe director of the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion has just been laid off.
Skud's idea of healthcare is "get sick and die".
I almost saw an authoritarian regime take over in 2021 so yes I do know. I am glad the universities reject federal funds because all taxpayers should not be saddled with the expense of paying for rich kids and foreigners higher education. Let the rich universities cough up some of their endowment money instead of accepting money from a government the protest against. It would be nice to see universities allow unrestricted comments on political events but that is just not the case.
ReplyDeleteI have not given up on American values, just the opposite. I support the American dream of work hard and prosper, respect authority and obey the law. Unfortunately many on the left believe in riot if you disagree and the system is rigged so why try.
I don't care for the language or actions of trump but he has accomplished a great deal in eight months. His methods can be crude and his attacks can be malicious but his results, so far, have been impressive. If the gaza agreement holds it will be quite an achievement and 20 hostages released is more than most people expected.
Why are governors so opposed to NG troops protecting their citizens. It must be an admission that they have failed and makes them look bad. I know Chicago is a very safe city unless you are black and live on the south side. Murders are down which is great unless you are one of the 50 shot and seven killed over labor day. Something has to be done and it isn't being done by the mayor.
We have seen more from kamala in the last month than the previous four years. Must be a lot of money in blame everyone but me book tours.
Trump may not be a nice guy but he is getting things done in a non conventional way. Lets see how long the schumer shutdown lasts.
skudrunner
Delete"I almost saw an authoritarian regime take over in 2021 so yes I do know."
No, you do not. There was no "almost saw an authoritarian regime take over in 2021," and saying so doesn't make it the truth, what you wrote is partisan hackery, because you didn't give any link or evidence for that statement.
skud: "I am glad the universities reject federal funds because all taxpayers should not be saddled with the expense of paying for rich kids and foreigners higher education."
That statement shows that you have no idea what federal funding of American universities is about. Your statement shows your erroneous assumption that federal $$$ goes to "rich kids and foreigners higher education?" Really? That statement shows you know nothing about it, but it didn't prevent you from having an opinion on it.
The federal-university research partnership was formalized after World War II to promote scientific discovery for the public good. In return for this funding, universities contribute to the advancement of knowledge by producing publications, sharing data, and educating students.
"Federal funding of universities fuels scientific discovery and innovation, supports national security, and provides students with access to higher education, all of which benefit the nation by strengthening its economy, global competitiveness, and technological advancement. This funding supports everything from basic research and development across various fields to student aid, creating a mutually beneficial partnership between the government and universities that has driven breakthroughs in areas like medicine, technology, and engineering.
Research and innovation
Drives groundbreaking discoveries: Federal grants have funded research that led to major innovations, such as the space race, military technology, drone technology, and new medical treatments, including some for diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
Supports infrastructure: It helps universities build and maintain the state-of-the-art labs and facilities needed for cutting-edge research, contributing to America's status as a global leader in research and development.
Fosters economic growth: The innovations and technologies that come from university research create new industries and jobs, boosting the national economy. "
skud: "I don't care for the language or actions of trump but he has accomplished a great deal in eight months. His methods can be crude and his attacks can be malicious but his results, so far, have been impressive."
You completely disregard Trump's lawlessness in undoing decades of progress in this country, because you think he's accomplishing results?
Here's something you may have missed when you studied history (if you studied it at all, and sometimes I do wonder.):
The Italians and the Germans in the 1920s and 1930s we also impressed with their fascist leaders, Mussolini and Hitler. A lot like what they did.
Accomplishments while breaking the law are meaningless. You're in the minority, BTW, in admiring the proto-fascist president and his administration.
History will not be kind to Trump nor those who continue to support what he's done.
skud, and millions of MAGA choose to give up their agency to an insurrectionist, a malignant narcissist, a pathological liar, a "man" w/o values, an authoritarian, and a vindictive as*hole who is experiencing declining cognitive functionality.
ReplyDeleteBut hey, for skud and MAGA that's the character they admire and see as successful.
They don't know history, or worse, they do and don't care, as long as Trump's regime doesn't affect them personally.
DeleteI'm done with reading Skud's fascist and racist bullshit.
ReplyDeleteThis is what he praises as "getting things done":
Women have lost their reproductive freedom. Regurgitating Trump’s Big Lie about “massive voter fraud” as their justification, Republican states are enacting sweeping voter suppression laws and targeting minority districts for gerrymandering. They know they must cheat to win so they’re doing everything they can to dismantle what we have left of a representative democracy.
Out of sheer spite tens of thousands of Americans have been summarily fired from their jobs without cause.
Universities, law firms, media corporations, billionaires, and even museums are being bullied, bribed, and blackmailed into submitting to the Criminal President Trump’s dictates.
Secret police are unleashed into communities, abducting and incarcerating non-violent immigrants, while terrorizing citizens, non-citizens, and zip-tied children. Even American citizens have been scooped up in their fascist frenzy. Remember their LIE about just going after the “worst of the worst”?
Tens of thousands of non-violent immigrants are suffering the severe and intentional cruelties of detention and family separation.
The Criminal President is deploying the military to occupy cities over the objections of mayors and governors. They are justifiably concerned that the secret police and troops will be used for election monitoring and voter intimidation.
The Criminal President has ordered extra-judicial killings on the open sea, as only dictators would do.
The insurrectionist Criminal President follows Hitler’s playbook, demonizing all who oppose him politically or ideologically as “communists” and the “enemy within”.
Anyone who approves of this is evil and can go to hell.
I'm done wasting my time citing facts. He won't read, acknowledge, or accept them anyway. Good faith dialogue is impossible with authoritarian personalities.
Ms. Shaw, A lot of your response is correct and I have no argument with. We look at issues from a different perspective. I view most things from results and you view them from feel good.
ReplyDeleteGranted a significant number of college funding fuels discovery and innovation. When something is invented does it remain the property of the university to profit from. Most prestigious universities have large endowments, harvard 53 BILLION , MIT 24 BILLION. They have the funds to pay tuition for the underprivileged and a lot of the rich kids yet they want the taxpayer to pay so they don't have to.
Why don't we match funds for trade school education because those are the people who can be self sufficient immediately vs an art major who may never pay off their debt.
What undoing of progress in the country. Mandating covid shots for military or be fired, spending billions on charging stations that were never built, mandating everyone must pay for health insurance or be fined.
You are correct that I will always support someone who does something for the country. The previous president did more to set back progress for the majority than any president in history. He made the swell guy look like he wasn't a special interest president and that is tough to do.
Skud: "We look at issues from a different perspective. I view most things from results and you view them from feel good."
DeleteCorrection: You look at things from results, whether laws are followed or not.
I feel good about results when a POTUS follows the law and doesn't use the military to terrorize my fellow American citizens. That is how a majority of AMERICANS "feel."
I hate to think that you'd have been cheering on what the authoritarians/fascists in Italy & Germany did to "get results," but your statement on the Trump regime and its "results" lead me to the conclusion that for you, "the ends justify the means," and you don't care if Trump is following the Constitution so long as he gets results. Non-democratic tyrants agree with YOU.
By your words, I understand that you support authoritarianism, a political system that prioritizes state authority over individual freedoms, and a system that wants to control the population in order to maintain order.
You and I know that is NOT American. Why do you support it?
skud: "The previous president did more to set back progress for the majority than any president in history."
DeleteThat, of course, is false. It's your politically biased opinion, and it is wrong.
Here are facts to back up the fact that what you wrote is false:
"The Biden administration passed major, long-lasting legislation, including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act. These bills aim to invest in infrastructure, domestic semiconductor production, and climate initiatives.
Economic recovery and job growth:
The economy added a record number of jobs during Biden's term, and the unemployment rate reached a 50-year low. His administration credits the American Rescue Plan and other policies for a strong economic recovery post-pandemic.
Foreign policy and alliances:
Biden received praise for restoring American leadership on the world stage, rallying NATO allies to support Ukraine against Russian aggression, and strengthening alliances to counter China.
Healthcare and veterans' benefits:
The administration expanded access to affordable healthcare through the Affordable Care Act and passed the PACT Act, which significantly expanded benefits for veterans exposed to toxic substances.
Labor support:
Biden was regarded as a pro-union president, famously joining a United Auto Workers picket line in 2023. His administration focused on strengthening unions and promoting labor standards."
Biden wasn't perfect. Like all presidents he was weak in some things and strong in others.
But he WAS NOT a convicted criminal who sexually assaulted women and who partied with notorious child sex traffickers and rapists, Epstein & Maxwell.
Try, skud, to look not ONLY at results but also at the method. If the method to acheive results is ethical then any differences can usually be ironed out and we move forward.
ReplyDeleteWhen the method, regardless the results, are not ethical and in line with the Constitution and accepted law then the dynamics change and become more problematic. Forensic ethical behavior and respecting the rule of law becomes secondary the society sets deer on the path to where we're at today.
The MAGA and Christian Nationlist trajectory of our nation is, regardless of beliefs, the path to less liberty, fewer freedoms, fewer human rights, a more testosterone driven might makes right mentality, greater othering and separation of people, less compassion and empathy, increase in I got mine screw you mentality, as well as increased social unrest and a decrease in overall happiness.
If you would simply lay down the conditioned responses and seriously look at all alternatives and understand how they actually work rather than accepting the canned con versus progressive illusion (in really it is an illusion built on self interests) things start to shift. And once you see it you cannot unsee it.
I've been a conservative republican, a libertarian, and an independent. Each time I actually looked and questioned I found my perspective changing. The result of increased information leading to a greater and a more thorough and complete understanding resulting in the shift. Today, the result of continuing to educate myself, turning off the 24/7 social media distractions, and realizing how very much alike all of us humans are regardless of geography, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation has brought me to a place where political tribes have become poison in my view. Both the Red and the Blue. Not because of they are bad per say, but because NEITHER party or our capitalist system is representing and working for the deep needs of a diverse and troubled society.
Without a deep sea change and refocusing of priorities in both parties this nation is doomed to regression and becoming an ex light in the world and just another struggling and declining nation.
Be part of the solution skud rather than continuing to be part of the problem. That requires opening the mind and letting go of reified and often outmoded beliefs and conditioning.
If not skud, then I'm with Dave.
Start here skud.... and keep going. You'll never come to an end if you do. Unless the mind closes and stays shut tight.
DeleteThey Deciphered the Code of Reality (Full Breakdown)
Mid east will not be cured. Even Trump knew of the 2000 years of war in the
ReplyDelete'Holy Land'. Back in the day when Menachim Begin was the terrorist turned
peacemaker, he met with Sadat and a 'lasting peace' was achieved. Sadat was assassinated. Begin lived a long life, elected even after Golda Meir (the Kamala Harris of Tel Aviv?) Scud should peruse the list of Israeli assassinations on Wiki - keep him occupied for several hours, then consider why Bibi has been charged with war crimes by the international tribunal.
The short peace will last a little longer than we being informed that Biden and Obama were the worst presidents. Betcha even scud thinks Trump should stick to his notes?
