The Danish Prime Minister warned that any U.S. military action against a NATO ally would effectively end the NATO alliance itself.
Jens-Frederik Nielsen, Greenland’s prime minister, said the country would prefer to remain part of Denmark rather than become a territory of the United States, as Donald Trump continues to threaten to take this sovereign territory of Denmark by force. Unheard of aggression against a NATO ally.

ReplyDeleteSo good morning and happy Friday my fellow PE commentators. It has been a week, hasn't it? I know I'm ready for bed and snacks and it's not even daylight yet.
Greenland: oh the meme's keep writing themselves. I applaud Greenland's official statement. I know on the MAGA propaganda fed side of life they swear every citizen of Greenland is begging the US to take them over. With tears in their eyes too! Ha! No, they know exactly who we are and have chosen their sides carefully and in my opinion, correctly.
Many folks are taking Trumps 'a boat landed 500 years ago' line and running with it. Of course the obvious comparison to our nation who was subject to the colonialism of the time. Mentions of flags comes up a lot (HT Mx Susie Eddie Izzard).
Of course we are laughing and making light but below the surface is the realization that this is not a game, that humans lives will be changed forever based on the words and actions of a orange tinted man baby who never learned to accept the word No!
I've heard this quote used by many wise voices in the LGBTQIA+ community as it pertains to our rights and how we felt fighting for those rights when our friends and loved ones were dying from an illness the government chose to ignore.

I can't move more than a couple of feet at a time without pain but in my meditations? I most certainly am dancing. :)

What's that look like? A person who is kicking "A" and taking numbers.
Results be dam*ed. They want a Patton, a leader of the Big Red One guy in the Oval. A man who hits first, is resolute in his decisions, and broaches no dissent.
Regardless of consequences.
None of this of course resembles at all the "team of rivals" of President Lincoln or the approach of presidents since Carter who relied on "soft power" to guide US interests abroad.
This is pure Trumpism, pure over baked self confidence from a little man commanding the world's super power.

Patton - highly and wrongly admired - his aides polished his brass and shoes while he court-marshalled draftees in muddy foxholes for not wearing neck ties. Failed his first year at West Point and spent 5 years in the 4 year program. The joke there is that his statue with binoculars points toward the library, a building he could never find. Like some other famous people, he was his own worst enemy.

Increasing our imperialistic demands, the president has now determined that any country that stands in our way, including among the list, Germany, France, Sweden, the UK and Denmark, can expect higher tariffs on all goods exported to the American public.

President trump has determined that US citizens now must...
1. Pay Denmark for giving us Greenland. Which tax payers must fund and add to our deficit.
2. Pay higher prices for goods coming from a host of our European allies, until those countries let us "buy" [the president's word] a territory of another country, which a majority of Americans do not want.
MAGA...
If given the choice right now I imagine many Americans would choose Greenland and the EU over Trump, his regime, and his Amerika.
