Western civilization would be a good idea, as the quote misattributed to Gandhi implies. But that goal is always beyond reach as long as white nationalists, racists, oligarchs, and authoritarians keep subverting our culture, decency, compassion, and civil order.
And as long as there are citizens in this country who believe people like Trump are good examples of American excellence in character, intelligence, and ability, we will never reach that goal.
Trump has set us back decades in the world's eyes, and it may take decades for us to recover from his destructive deeds -- if ever.
As we have witnessed events since the Imbecile Toddler descended that elevator in 2015 it has, for me at least, become increasingly difficult to believe this nation will ever recover from the destruction caused by the marauding narcissist and his legions of brown shirt morons in congress and the courts.
The absolute horror of all of this, is that everyone knows what a terrible, horrible, miserable human being Trump is, even the people around him and the Republicans in Congress know this. And yet he’s still the head of this government. It is an astonishing thing to contemplate.
Absolutely True. My paternal grandmother grew up in Minnesota and is no doubt smiling from somewhere in the stars.
ReplyDeleteObviously, you've inherited Minnesota Nice from her! Lucky!
