Questions, questions, questions...
Since Grey One talks sass likes questionnaires, here’s another five.
Again, as before, five simple answers is the cost of discussion admission.
1. Should the US be paying money to people found guilty or who have pleaded guilty to beating US Police Officers and defacing the US Capitol on Jan 6?

Again, as before, five simple answers is the cost of discussion admission.
1. Should the US be paying money to people found guilty or who have pleaded guilty to beating US Police Officers and defacing the US Capitol on Jan 6?
2. Is it unpatriotic and/or un-American for people in the US and Congress to push back against a president’s agenda?
3. If a politician votes with his or her party over 90% of the time, should that party attack that person for disloyalty? I’m thinking Rep Massie and Sen Fetterman here.
4. Should the US government provide an official US Federal Voter ID card to all citizens of our country on their 18th birthday, free of charge and demand use of that card as the single, mandatory ID to vote in our country?
5. Would you support a 20 year term limit for justices of the Supreme Court?
My answers?

BTW... I'm beside myself these days. Why are building warehouses in the US to house hundreds of thousands of immigrants? Are we going to put them there? How much worse politically can the Iran War go? $1.7 billion!!!??? A president tweeting AI photos of himself with aliens, as a super hero and more all night long? A Sec Def openly campaigning against a Republican for wanting to support Ukraine and believes the Epstein files need to be released as per the law the president himself signed?
Dave,
ReplyDeleteEasy Answer
1. No, they should be sentenced and given the maximum jail time or assigned to a crew cleaning up national parks since they profess they are patriots
2. No, Right to protest by anyone for as anything as log as it is peaceful
3. No, 90% at least shows they have a brain which for most politicians is questionable
4. Yes, and that same ID could be used to cash a check or use a bene card but not board an airplane
5. Yes, but also have term and age limits for congress critters. We have been shown for the last three administrations that the decision making ability suffers with advanced years. If a pilot can't do his job after 65 why should a congress critter be deemed competent.
As a side note to your side note
Why don't we enforce our immigration laws and move the non invited border crossers out of the country until asked to enter.
What are we trying to achieve in Iran because the message is blurred. Are we trying to prevent nuclear weapons, protect their citizens or add Iran as another state.
Trump gets more embarrassing every day with his self promoting. Soon we will have the trump statue of liberty to go along with the trump watch and trump dollar bill.
I don't care about the epstein files because all they do is to show the rich and powerful doing things they shouldn't but they deserve to be exposed so release the files and move on.
Skud: "I don't care about the epstein files because all they do is to show the rich and powerful doing things they shouldn't but they deserve to be exposed so release the files and move on."
DeleteThose things that the rich and powerful did were the abuse, assault, and rape of children, all documented in the Epstein files, and for which Ghislaine Maxwell is in prison -- the only person who has been held accountable for those heinous crimes against children and others. I don't think you'd say you didn't care about someone committing grand larceny or manslaughter, so how can you dismiss what was done to children?
Why isn't the Republican Party holding people who committed those unspeakable crimes accountable? What kind of a country are we to let rich and powerful people get away with criminal acts?

We are on the verge of a government sanctioned lawless society. The direct result of trump and his MAGA.scam.
Lots there Skud... The Trump Admin has not said why we need all those immigrant detention centers in the US. Since the Trump Admin has said the "border is closed", they are not for illegal crossers. Also, since we are only accepting asylum claims from white South African ppl, it's not for them. Maybe you know something I'm missing.
ReplyDeleteTrump said we needed "Total Surrender" from Iran. It looks like something changed. Here's a tell... After Iran agreed to the JCPOA under Obama, we released $1.7 billion of Iran's money we had frozen here in the US. Conservatives where beside themselves saying Obama just gave money to terrorists. Will they be saying the same if and when Trump does the same?
Regarding Trump... Here's what one blogger wrote... "I think of Trump more of a pacifist than a warmonger. And yes, he’s a businessman, and lets logic not emotion guide him." Here's our problem: If people believe this, and think they are sane, how do we as a country survive?
Epstein... The law requires all the files to be released. The DOJ and even the President are violating the law every day they refuse to do so. Why are you and people like you, formerly "Law & Order" conservatives demanding action? If Trump had no desire to follow the law, why did he sign the legislation into law? Release the files, all the files and let the chips fall where they may.
BTW, I don't understand your comment on number 4.
Les... I went with 20 years to span more than th max 2 presidents can serve so as to somewhat insulate the SCOTUS from some of the politics of our system.
Actually Dave, until we finally recognize, accept, and change the exexploitation and coercion that is built into the global capitalist system (by design) nothing is going to change the worsening reality of our times.
ReplyDeleteWhich is why the answers may be best found by joining the American Communist Party and actively working for real economic ans political change through truly democratic processes.
The demonization of Marxist economic principles is a direct result of the fear it illicit in the ruling capital class.
Same answers.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, an enforceable code of ethics for the Supreme Court with a clear path to impeachment of the worst offenders like Alito, Roberts, and Thomas.
Oh Dave Miller, you made my day I feel so seen right now!
ReplyDeleteTalked with my mom about the answers so short answers first:
1. No
2. No.

5: SCOTUS At first I was with Les, kindof as I was in favor of a 16 year term but then mom and I got to talking and I came around to her way of thinking. Twenty years is five presidential terms of office meaning at least there will be three presidents. With a shorter term there is the potential that a sitting judge would only preside under two presidents. Which is what Dave Miller said above. Great minds and all that. :)
3. I said no but it's complicated. If a congress critter votes with their party most of the time but votes their conscience when things get real - if their conscience aligns with my ideals then I have no trouble. If, like Fetterman, they say they are one thing but turn out to be something else? Then attack away. Fetterman has been on the wrong side of so many ethical issues that in my mind he's become the poster child for the no confidence vote here in the states.
That said it is the right of all citizens to have their own opinions about everything. I would not hamper that right.
4. And here's where our conversation got spicy. Neither mom nor I believe in just giving important things away without some sort of accountability as humans historically place no value in things provided sans cost. For a key example of this Google the mosquito net giveaway back in the day. Opened my eyes for sure.
That said, I'm not talking about charging folks for the Voter ID but instead to require citizens to attend classes teaching them that voting is a privilege, honor, and a responsibility required of each of them. Citizens forget too easily that if we want a better country we have to be better citizens.
Questions answered, on to the sidebar conversations:
Dave Miller: all those detention centers are for people like me and eventually you (you being a Christian but the WRONG sort of Christian, amirite?). Those detention centers are like hotels - empty beds mean no monies coming in. And, somebody has to provide necessary manual labor to keep the current capitalist machine moving.
Although, now that I think about it you are smarter than the average bear. I suspect your question was more about getting others to think and less about you not knowing the answer.
Concur Dave Dubya - enforceable code of ethics for everyone. I feel like Oprah - you get an ethics code and you get an ethics code!!!
skud said "I don't care about the epstein files because all they do is to show the rich and powerful doing things they shouldn't but they deserve to be exposed so release the files and move on."
Well, I guess you told us how you feel about the topic. Tell me you know NOTHING about having your power, your agency ripped from you before you even knew what it was without saying the words.
I'll give you credit for saying you support the files being released but your final words betray your soul of an abuser as you mirror the words of Trump: just move on. Sure Jan, I'll move on when my abusers have paid for the potential they stole from me. Yes I survived but I'm not the person I was before. No one is skud. No one. It is the main reason I live this motto: It's not all men but it was always a man.
Sass... yep, I'm mostly the wrong type. The type that believes in compassion, there but for the grace of God go I, love one another, etc... and none of the weasely imprecatory prayers [look it up].
DeleteDave, Because boarding an airplane requires other verification and does not require citizenship.
ReplyDeleteOne of the problems with the funds released to Iran is they refused to permit inspection of their facilities as part of the deal. The trump deal is like shifting sand, you don't know where it is going and changes minute by minute depending on which way the wind blows. He proposes something then changes his position at the snap of a finger. He defines what is legal by the way he feels at the time which makes no sense but neither does he.
You mix conservatives with republicans and they are not the same so will republicans support him, probably, will conservatives of which I am one, not necessarily. I am a fiscal conservative and a social liberal so I have no allegiance to either party.
Hiding behind dual klabels that comfortably allows for both siderism, skud.
DeleteLes, Please add a third tier or label for me, Rabid Capitalist
ReplyDeleteGrey, I am all for releasing the files, expose all involved and if they are found guilty of committing a crime throw them in jail. I would like our critters do their job of running the country. On second thought they are incompetent to run anything so let them make the epstein files their whole focus.
