Convicted felon, Donald Trump, proudly endorsed indicted felon, Ken Paxton for Texas Senate.
(Again, can anyone imagine if former President Obama had been involved in this shameful situation? This is why so many Americans label this disgrace as "White Privilege." Why do these two people get a pass, when we absolutely know Conservatives would be in paroxysms of fury if Mr. Obama did this?)
Ken Paxton beat long-time Republican Senator John Cornyn after Trump endorsed Paxton in Texas's recent primary.
And why not?
Paxton is the perfect embodiment of what the once proud Republican Party has become with Trump as its leader:
Venal and unprincipled.
(As well as a refuge for antisemites, xenophobic isolationists, Nazis, white nationalists, and extreme fundamentalist Christians who do not believe in the separation of their religion and government, as is set out in the US Constitution. Have I left anything out?)
Hmmm. Decisions, decisions. Which way will the good people of Texas vote with these two men?
Stay tuned.
Oh, and there's this disgusting leniency Paxton gifted to a convicted pedophile after he, Adam Hoffman, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young boy:
"A convicted child sexual abuser who received leniency from Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office was released after just 30 days in a McLennan County jail, KWTX reported.
I don't know, Paxton's record certainly rival's that of Tallarico's former "mediocre black man" opponent... jes sayin'!
ReplyDeleteThat has no bearing on anything posted here. It's just your typical way of inserting inane "whataboutisms." Tallarico's Black opponent, AFAIK, was Representative Jasmine Crockett, an intelligent woman, and definitely NOT mediocre.
Delete...and if Tallarico refuses to "judge" his campaign contributors (unless they're SuperPACs), that why should TX voters care what crimes Paxton may, or may not, have committed?
ReplyDeleteThere is NO comparison between what you insinuate and what Paxton was actually indicted and impeached for! LOL! Tallirico must have MAGA worried. Imagine that! The Democrats put up a decent human being to oppose Paxton, and MAGA is going bonkers! I love it!
DeleteYeah, so profoundly satisfying. What's not to love?
DeleteIsn't it cute of Joe Con pretending to have morel standards?
DeleteJoe has no issue with the Criminal President Trump and his pals being pedophiles and rapists.
No criticism of Paxton coddling child abusers, but plenty of deflection.. He's Ok with the Epstein files being heavily redacted for Trump and Republicans, while revealing the names of the victims.
I have very strong moral standards, Dave. Such that I abhor YOUR proposed post-colonialist "ethical" standards (race-gender-religion essentialist SoJus wokeism).
DeleteYes, Joe. And your very strong moral standards are why you support Trump and why you never express any objections to his "very strong moral standards".
DeleteVoter rights, free elections, reproductive rights, fair minority representation, and being anti pedophilia, anti-corruption, and anti-Criminal President are so very post-colonialist "ethical" standards (race-gender-religion essentialist SoJus wokeism).
After all, in MAGA's fascist oligarchy fealty to the Leader along with wealth, power, and cruelty are THE very strong moral standards. This is why everyone with similarly very strong moral standards are required to serve the Leader’s personal vendettas through punitive abuse by law enforcement agencies, and to protect and defend the corruption and crimes of the MAGA Oligarchic Epstein Class.
Wokeism, CRT, and DEI will be neither tolerated nor allowed when the very strong moral standards of authoritarian kleptocracy, white supremacy, and Christian nationalism are blazing their way to make America great.
When you're Reich, you're Reich. Very strong moral standards and loyalty to the Leader were as de rigueur a hundred years ago as they are today.
I haven't denounced Trump's Iran War strongly enough? What planet are you from, Dave? Fair minority representation? Republicans are a minority in 7 of 8 congressional legislative districts. We just got gerrymandered so that we're now a minority in 8 out of 8. How are YOU for "fair minority representation" in Maryland (51% registered Democrats, 25% Republican)?
DeleteWell, well. Look who's whining about gerrymandering now!
DeleteRepublicans are running all branches of government, but still -FJ wants to whine that they have no representation.
Of course we don't expect any admission that Trump wants to gerrymander Black voting districts out of existence. It's OK when Republicans do it, but it's very bad of those Democrats to respond in kind isn't it?
It was all good when -FJ's corrupt, pedophile protecting, Criminal President decided to start a gerrymandering war to keep his weakened party of thug lovers and sex offenders in power. Apparently bending their knees to Trump and his Big Lie won't cut it anymore.
And no, he hasn't denounced Trump's war with Iran enough because he can't denounce the CRIMINAL who started it. Maybe he'll figure out Trump has been lying all along?
Such a pity why more persons of -FJ's very strong moral standards won't support the Trump Cartel, isn't it?
I'm not in the party that tries to get candidates stricken from the ballots. That would be yours. And you lost that election. We didn't prevent you from trying to win it a priori. But hey, now that we are, can I get you some cheese to go with your whine?
DeleteNo one with even a modicum of self respect and a conscience would be associated with the trump or his egregiously corrupt administration.
ReplyDeleteA point I would like to make.
Antisemitism, meaning hate for the Jewish people and their religion as in Nazism and Hitler is unquestionably revolting and needs to be denounced unequivocally. However, disdain for, disrespect for, and revulsion for the actions of the Zionist state of Isreal and its genocide of Palestinians is a righteous position, Shaw.
There are Orthodox Jews and Rabbis in New York who are anti-Zionists and anti-Netanyahu. I don't think people would consider them antisemites. Your point is correct.
DeleteMy friends in Europe are not anti-American, they ARE, however, anti-MAGA /TRUMP . My father and mother were born in Italy. They loved their country, but hated Mussolini.
from Google AI:
DeleteLegislation against Israel is increasingly classified as antisemitism in the U.S. and internationally, primarily through the adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition. The IHRA definition, used by the U.S. government, suggests that denying Israel's right to exist, applying double standards, or using, Nazi-era tropes can constitute antisemitism.
Key Aspects of the Debate:
Antisemitism Awareness Act (H.R. 1007, 2025-2026): This proposed legislation aims to make the IHRA definition, including examples targeting Israel, a standard for reviewing federal anti-discrimination complaints.
Anti-BDS Laws: Many US states have passed laws prohibiting government contractors from participating in the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel, arguing it is a form of discrimination.
Free Speech Concerns: Critics, including civil liberties groups, argue that equating all anti-Israel legislation or speech with antisemitism conflates political criticism with hate speech and restricts First Amendment rights.
The IHRA Definition: While commonly used, some argue the IHRA examples of antisemitism are too broad, particularly those linking anti-Zionism to antisemitism.
Differentiation in Policy:
The U.S. State Department and IHRA guidelines generally hold that criticism of Israel that is similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as antisemitic. However, when such criticism, or legislation based on it, holds Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel or uses classic antisemitic stereotypes, it is classified as antisemitic
Just as patriotic, truly patriotic Americans love their country but hate trump, Project 2025, and the unethical foundations of MAGA.
DeleteHe's still the lesser of 2 evils, Les. Politics is a mug's game!
DeleteMore reason we should not vote for a lawyer. The democrats only put up decent human beings. There is a lot to hate with both parties and neither work for you and me but are sure good at making money for themselves.
ReplyDeleteCriticism of and activism against Israeli genocide of Palestinians, or the financing of and providing weapons for the genocide commited by the Zionist state of Israel on Palestinian is NOT antisemitism.
ReplyDeleteUnderstand that clearly jc.
I'm with you on that. But Christian Zionists are looking to legislate against that znti-Zionism = anti-semitism.
DeletePalestinians ARE Semites, btw.
And just to clarify my position... IMO it isn't a genocide. It's an ethnic cleansing prior to permanently ensuring a Jewish religious ethno-State. PS - the 2 ethno-State solution is NO solution at all.
DeleteWhy would I consider this an ethnic cleansing and not a genocide? Maybe you should ask the Boston Consulting Group?
Deletebtw - Isn't Mitt Romney Boston Shaw's favorite former governor? ;)
The Zionist government of Zionist Israel are evil minded authoritarian bigots. Seeking dominance over the ME Arab geographical region they WILL ultimately lose and lose bigly. As they should.
DeleteAt the end of the day, unless and until a Dem actually, you know, wins a statewide race in Texas, it ain't gonna happen. And anyone placing a prop bet on James Talarico with Kalshi or Polymarket are crazy.
ReplyDeleteThat said, one day it's gonna happen. Perhaps Talarico is the guy. But here's the deal, at least for me... with Paxton at the top of the GOP ticket this year in Texas, win or lose, the idea that the GOP ever believed in what they used to say about private morals and public service was just BS.
The GOP does not and never has cared deeply about morality and only saw it as a cudgel to use against the Dems. I just wish they'd be honest and admit what we all know, and have known for years, to be true.
The $$$ game will be behind Talarico. And as the Massie race proved, $$$ can buy almost anything if you spend enough.
DeleteYeah. I didn’t read your distress when the Republicans throw millions of dollars to ensure that a MAGA wins an election. For example, the accused felon, Paxton.
DeleteGoogle AI:
DeleteIn the 2026 Texas U.S. Senate race, Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton defeated incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in a primary runoff despite being drastically outspent. However, the general election matchup against Democratic state Representative James Talarico presents a massive funding disparity.
The Republican Primary Spending
The Spending Gap: Pro-Cornyn forces (including the incumbent's campaign and allied super PACs like Texans for a Conservative Majority) poured approximately $150 million into the primary.
Paxton's Deficit: In stark contrast, Paxton and groups backing him spent only about $4.5 million on advertising.
The Outcome: Despite being outspent on advertising by roughly $80 million, Paxton won the most expensive primary in U.S. history, heavily fueled by Donald Trump's late endorsement.
The General Election Funding Disparity
The Democratic War Chest: Talarico is one of the highest-fundraising Democrats in the country, hauling in $27 million in the first quarter of the year and over $40 million total.
Paxton's Cash on Hand: Paxton entered the general election phase with roughly $2.3 million in cash on hand, falling significantly behind Talarico’s nearly $10 million in available bank funds.
The National Panic: National Republicans are now bracing for an incredibly expensive general election. Strategists warn that defending the historically red Texas seat could force the GOP to divert an additional $100 million from other competitive national battlegrounds to save Paxton’s campaign.
For ongoing and detailed breakdowns of campaign finance records, track the latest disclosures directly on the Federal Election Commission website.
ps- The GoP (UniParty controlled) isn't going to give Paxton $0.01.
GOP: The shill party beholding to the capitalist class of billionaires (soon to be trillionaires) that has always been willingly to drive capital accumulation to the top 1% of society.
ReplyDeleteNothing, absolutely nothing will change the trajectory of wealth accumulation until capitalism is pulled out of society by its roots and destroyed.
The means and management of production must be equally shared with the collective of the working class. A econimic model that returns a greater benefit of the profit generated by labor back to labor itself.
If this nation is not capable of realizing this soon the seeds of revolution will sprout again. As they should if ignorance continues to rule the day.
Les... the wealth accumulation is the elephant in the room isn't it? Why anyone needs a billion dollars, I don't know. Our Constitution does not name what our monetary system has to be.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't America just say the government takes everything over $500 million and puts it to good use? Perhaps funding non profits, etc that have shown themselves to be good stewards and have effective programs to lift people out of poverty and and help America.
IDK...
A) Return to the Eisenhower years relative to taxation.
ReplyDeleteB) Close 90% of US military bases around the globe.
C) Reduce the military budget to 250 billion per annum.
D) Restructure the penal code and drastically reduce the prison population in America.
E) Remove the Profit Motive from the Healthcare System of American. IE: Eliminate Manage Care.
F) Consider and implement programs as you suggested Dave... to raise people poverty and homelessness. Including a guaranteed minimum income.
G) And finally, blow up the capitalist economic and political system in the USA. Note: See The Capital Order and Escape from Capitalism both by Clara Mattei, Professor of Economics @Tulsa Oklahoma and author.
There's a lot more, but suffice to say the point is if we continue down the present trajectory of modern capitalism/fascism in America we eventually will face the ruination of America as a force for good.
Dave, Why not go further and pay everything to the government and they dole living expenses back. That way everyone can have no reason to achieve anything and no work ethic.
ReplyDeleteThe term non-profit is almost a joke. They rely on volunteers and low paid staff so the CEO can be paid millions. The smaller non-profits rely on cash donations that are tax deductible so everyone pays for the "donation"
CEO, Sloan Kettering $6.979 million, American Heart Assc $4.563 million, Shriners $4 million, American cancer society $2.1 million. (https://www.charitywatch.org/nonprofit-compensation-packages-of-1-million-or-more)
Take the tax deduction away from "charities" reduce the salaries of the non-profit groups and let people give out of charity in the heart not because it is a tax deduction.
Or steal from the rich and give to the poor, oh that what you recommended to start with.
Les had some great ideas especially
A. Reduce waste and corruption and we wouldn't need to increase taxes
D. Open the jails and let the chips fall where they may
E. Provide no reason for research
F. Provide no reason to work
G. Provide no reason to strive for success which is what America was built on
You do understand that the subsidies paid to agra-business, energy companies, ,and other multi-billion dollar corporations and industries are much larger compared to the paltry salaries of nonprofit CEOs, don’t you? Why do you never complain about those subsidies that you, the taxpayer, are paying to the multi-billion dollar corporations? Will you answer that?
DeleteIgnorance supports the capitalist class. IOW: Keep the masses dumb to truth, dependent on the capitalist class for their wages, and just complacent enough they don't revolt.
Deleteskud is the product of facist capitalist. They LOVE people like skud.
Actually Skud, I'm in favor of a tax rate structure that starts at 12% for the bottom rung of earners, with a 20K exemption for all earners. Then the rate are indexed up to 55% for all ppl earning over $5 million. The 20k is the only exemption, because everyone in the same system is fair, a concept you have repeatedly championed. No exemptions, no BS passive income, nothing. You earn, you pay. Period.
DeleteThen we raise the cap on Social Security to $500K and institure a pay/go system for federal expenses again. It worked during both the Clinton and Obama Admins, so it could work again.
This approach would yield a short 2-3 years recession shock to the US system at first. But after a long haul could pay off the deficit, completely shore up Social Security, pay for Trump's requested defense budget increase, and lead to decades of US financial dominance around the world.
It protects the most vulnerable among us, puts everyone from trillionaires to minimum wage earners under the same rules, albeit with higher rates, balances the budget and pays off our loans.
It's not without flaws, but in the face of constant carping from some, at least it's something.
Baby steps are better than none I suppose. BTW, IMNHO there should be no cap on social security taxes.
DeleteAnd skud, check the incarceration rate in the USA and compare it to every other industrialized country on the planet. See what you find. Not that I expect you will. Your conditioning and reified beliefs renders you quite non inquisitive.
ReplyDeleteAnd skud, the invisible hand of the free market is but an illusion and a myth. But it has worked well keeping the masses mesmerized with the lies of capitalism. So skud, you're either a capitalist or highly mesmerized by their BS.
ReplyDeleteMs. Shaw, There are thousands of people who would like to have a paltry salary of six million so I guess it is insignificant for you. Yes subsidies for many industries exist and have fer decades. Many subsidies are designed to keep prices up and many are designed to benefit the public, subsidies for small town airports to help them having air travel. You see subsidies to a solar company so they could close and the owners receive millions as a good thing, others see it as a payoff for donations.
ReplyDeleteLes, the incarceration rate is outrageous because the penalty for a crime are not enforced so the recidivism rate is very high. The free market means even you can participate if you choose to.
Righto bucks. Keep believing! LMFAO
