If the current admin had been an enemy at the gates or worse, a Dem! everything done from the mass illegal firings of dedicated civil servants to destroying historical buildings would be presented by big media as an act of war. Destroying allied relationships which have taken decades to iron out? Decimating our emergency response services? Hitting our infrastructure where it will do the most damage... Yeah, all things I would have done had I been an invading force.

The young ones are correct in viewing our country as already in ruins. Those who mock politicians (looking at you Democratic Party) for the never ending need to spin every story that everything could be fine if we would just vote blue are on the nose with their accurate takedowns.
Honestly, there is no recovering what once was. That time is gone. Now we need to look for the warriors called to defend our ideal - a Constitution written for the people by the people. I suggest those who have a touch of whimsy in their bio. Epic warriors, brilliant humans who know exactly what is most important.
When I was a kid there was a hand game we played. We'd intermingle our fingers and hold our hands knuckle to knuckle. Here's the church, meaning the building. And inside were all the people with the message telling me a building is only a building. The place becomes sacred based on what we put inside.
Maybe all this we are experiencing here/now is exactly what the country needs. Honestly as I see it if the same old type of leaders were to be at the helm when the Earth decides to do their song and dance number in the upcoming Apocalypse End Times Show and Review humanity wouldn't have stood a chance at survival.
Anyhoo, in my opinion no matter who wins the upcoming elections those who were asleep are now awake. We may yet still prevail.
Perhaps Jefferson was right. From time to time democracy need be refreshed with the blood of patriots. A paraphrase, not a quote, but the message is Intact.
Perhaps it is time for the 2'nd American revolution. Hopefully it will be bloodless. But given the right fascists propensity for violence who knows.
I have but one word to accurately describe the current reality of America and how many feel: EMBARRASSED.
