I do, however, believe that what they did accomplish in a very, very red district was notable. I've said that Ossoff winning in Georgia 6 would have been like Mike Pence winning in Cambridge, Mass.! That Ossoff came as close as he did is remarkable.

I read Nate Silver's analysis of the Georgia special election, and he had THIS TO SAY.

Anonymous @6/21, voter suppression and making it harder for minorities to vote is problematic with the Republicans. I don't know if that had a major role in Ossoff's defeat.Shaw Kenawehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08637273000409613497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1883838569462983439.post-12734715454715242992017-06-22T01:55:29.386-04:002017-06-22T01:55:29.386-04:00

That's usual...The republicans probably cheated. That's usually how they win. Either by gerrymandering or voter suppression or making it more difficult for minority voters to vote. The Rethugs are dirty and they always cheat even with Russian help they cheat. I know the popular logic...Shaw... let me disagree.

I know the popular logic out there is to say exactly what we are hearing from guys like Leonhardt and the WAPO's Jonathan Capehart, but really?

The Dems spent millions and still got beat. And again, they were tone deaf. Ossoff was not a resident in the district where he was running and dismissed any criticism of that from the GOP. In what world is that smart?

In the same world where the Clinton campaign dismissed entreaties from Bill Clinton to go to Michigan and Pennsylvania. In the same world where the Obama Admin offered help getting out the evangelical left and were rebuffed. And in the same world where the DNC decided they needed no help to repel Russian hacking.

The Dems right now are arrogant and believe they have a "right" to win elections without doing the hard work of actually articulating a vision for the future of America as opposed to a vision against whatever the GOP wants to do.

For 8 years we railed against the GOP for being not for anything, rather, being against Obama and now the Dems are doing the same thing.

I am disappointed the Dems lost what really were, given Trump popularity, winnable seats. But unless and until the party accepts reality and begins to once again work hard for the vote, they will continue to flounder.Dave Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16777087329254991970noreply@blogger.com
