The problem is that knowing the "ins and outs" allows the long-term politicians to figure out how to line their pockets from special interests, lobbyists, corporations instead of serving their constituents, and the longer they stay in office the richer they become and they don't want to give that up. That's why terms limits are essential to getting the lawmakers to pay attention to us, and not their long-term enrichment.

There are some dedicated lawmakers, but in order to reach the heights of political achievement, such as becoming the POTUS, a US senator or representative, a candidate has to raise millions and millions and then she/he is beholden to those rich people who contribute, not to us lowly $25 contributors.

Money corrupts everything, and IMO, we have a corrupt system of government.

Shaw Kenawehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08637273000409613497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1883838569462983439.post-89584033947180859802016-10-06T16:03:30.874-04:002016-10-06T16:03:30.874-04:00So here's my thinking... everyone seems to dis...So here's my thinking... everyone seems to dislike "Professional Politicians". As the Dallas Morning News, which last endorsed a Democrat before World War II, wrote in its endorsement of Clinton last month, "Her errors are plainly in a different universe than her opponent's." Some newspapers are also endorsing much earlier than usual, rather than waiting until the final week or two of the campaign. The Chicago Sun-Times, which reversed its 2012 decision to stop making presidential endorsements, explained in its September endorsement of Clinton, "The best way to avert a train wreck is to wave a warning flag as soon as possible."

Trump received four endorsements in the primary season, from a small California paper, the New York Post, the conspiracy-peddling National Enquirer, and the New York Observer, which is owned by Donald Trump's son-in-law and top campaign adviser, Jared Kushner. But he has so far received zero endorsements in the general election. Even Gary Johnson, the zany Libertarian Party candidate who has struggled to answer basic questions about international affairs, has managed three major endorsements."Shaw Kenawehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08637273000409613497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1883838569462983439.post-3942929349826815922016-10-06T15:21:52.663-04:002016-10-06T15:21:52.663-04:00In addition to that, Dave, no major newspaper has ...In addition to that, Dave, no major newspaper has endorsed Trump, and many major newspapers that traditionally backed conservative/Republican candidates have endorsed Clinton.

Some papers have broken with decadeslong tradition to avoid backing Trump. Here's a running tally of major newspaper endorsements -- none of which are for Trump.

A Running Tally of Newspaper Endorsements in the Presidential Election
Some papers have broken with decades long tradition to avoid backing Trump.

Some of these newspapers acknowledge Hillary's problems, but they all agree that those problems pale in comparison to the disaster that is Trump.

And yet the usual far right wing blogs are still stubbornly pro-Trump?

Blind partisanship is a failing in itself. Many principled Republicans and conservatives have stood up for decency and love of country. Those who still support Trump IMO do not care for either.

Even Bill Weld, the Libertarian vice president candidate, is urging people to vote for Hillary, whom he has said is eminently qualified to be president, because he understands that Gary Johnson can't win, and Weld said he'd work to get Hillary elected.

It says a lot about how crazy the GOP is that they fell for a charlatan like Trump when they could have put up any other candidate who, at this point, would probably be giving Clinton a difficult time in the polls.

But a combination of Trump being egregiously unfit for the office of the presidency of the United States and the fact that President Obama's favorability numbers are edging toward 60% is pretty good evidence that a Hillary victory, at this point, is looking better than it did 4 weeks ago.

RealClearPolitics gives her a 72% chance of winning, and if the election were held today, it would be an 82% change of winning.

Shaw Kenawehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08637273000409613497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1883838569462983439.post-63303766138648669572016-10-06T14:21:47.139-04:002016-10-06T14:21:47.139-04:00President Obama is beloved by the American people ...President Obama is beloved by the American people -- and I mean the people who have moral grounding, not the ones who brag about "family values" and then passionately support a man who cheated on Wife #1 with Wife #2, and who cheated on Wife #2 with Wife #3, and who openly bragged about sleeping with other men's wives, and who once proudly stated that he doesn't really respect women (as if we couldn't figure that out ourselves).

The "family values" people have thrown their support behind a man who mocked a disable journalist and, just recently, someone who was dealing with pneumonia, his opponent, Hillary Clinton. Trump mocked a POW because he was captured, and he insulted a Gold Star family. None of these appalling failures in moral and human decency has had any effect on the people who claim to be virtuous and who complain about the country's morals and values going to hell, who call the 1960s "the SICKsties," but who have turned a blind eye to a man who is a walking, talking, living moral and human decency disaster.

I've seen people blinded by partisan loyalty, but the people who still support the man who calls women "pigs," and "disgusting" and who has no knowledge about our Constitution are a special breed who have sold their souls to an unapologetic narcissist and ignoramus because they want their political party to win.

They love their political party more than they love America.
Shaw Kenawehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08637273000409613497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1883838569462983439.post-62543243138430965942016-10-06T13:36:29.398-04:002016-10-06T13:36:29.398-04:00Shaw... then there's this... a list of former ...Shaw... then there's this... a list of former GOP Congressmen who are convinced that the Donald will be a disaster for the US...

Steve Bartlett (R-Texas), Bob Bauman (R-Md.), Sherwood Boehlert (R-N.Y.), Jack Buechner (R-Mo.), Tom Campbell (R-Calif.), Bill Clinger (R-Pa.), Tom Coleman (R-Mo.), Geoff Davis (R-Ky.), Mickey Edwards (R-Okla.), Harris Fawell (R-Ill.), Ed Foreman (R-Texas, N.M.), Amo Houghton Jr. (R-N.Y.).
