Edward Snowden, the "hero" people are talking about,,,

...divulged US secrets to Communist China:

Waiting for those who believe this guy's motives were pure and patriotic to comment on this:

From the Associated Press:

HONG KONG (AP) — For months, China has tried to turn the tables on the U.S. to counter accusations that it hacks America's computers and networks.

Now, former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden may have handed Beijing a weapon in its cyber war of words with Washington.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post newspaper, Snowden claims the U.S. has long been attacking a Hong Kong university that routes all Internet traffic in and out of the semiautonomous Chinese region.

Snowden said the National Security Agency's 61,000 hacking targets around the world include hundreds in Hong Kong and mainland China, the paper reported late Wednesday.

The Post, Hong Kong's main English-language newspaper, said Snowden had presented documents to support those claims, but it did not describe the documents and said it could not verify them. Snowden's comments were his first since the 29-year-old American revealed himself as the source of a major leak of top-secret information on U.S. surveillance programs.

He flew to Hong Kong from Hawaii before revealing himself, and the Post said he is staying out of sight amid speculation the U.S. may seek his extradition.

Some hero.

Somewhat related to Mr. Snowden, former Bush NSA Director, with no need to friend President Obama, has said the Obama Admin has been more transparent than the Bush Admin was.

I guess, in the understanding of many malcontented bloggers on the right, Mr. Hayden is blaming the Bush Admin for these issues,,,

A interesting case. I, like so many others are still contemplating the ramifications of this.

I tend to agree with TAO's thoughts as he expressed them on the preceeding post.

For me a "wait and see" approach is most appropriate.

The more Mr Snowden opens his mouth ('US hacking China and Hong Kong since 2009', NYT) the more it's apparent he didn't finish high school.

When your side isn't on your side anymore, it's time to to stop being loyal to disloyalty, and make a radical move to break up the power bloc holding you in thrall and force reform.

Daniel Ellsberg says he considers Snowden a hero.

Cheney is saying Snowden is a traitor.

It's going to get interesting.

Hero...shmero. What the man did was tell the people of USA what every one else in the world already knew. The documents marked SECRET and TOP SECRET were marked so - to keep the documents away from people of USA, not China. China already knew what USA is up to.

About the only harm done to USA by the release of NSA documents was the harm of waking people of USA from their knowledge of their ignorance. It is clear the people will not be able to claim the people did not know what was going on with the NSA.

Actually Eddie he did get a GED so he did finish high school and did some time in JC.

We consistently permit the federalists to control more of our lives so it should not be surprising this upsets so many people. Where was the MSM in all of this, sidelining it seems.

Is he guilty of giving up U.S. secrets of just guilty of confirming to the world that the U.S. hacks.

He is a hero but he is an opportunist and we have to wait to see what that produces.
