DEMOCRATS WIN BIG IN TUESDAY'S ELECTIONS

"And if you lose, they are going to say Trump suffered the greatest defeat in the history of the world. You can't let that happen to me!" @realDonaldTrump, 11/4/19

President "No Quid Pro Quo" begged Kentuckians at his rally on Monday night to "You can't let that happen to me!" That is, let incumbent Governor Matt Bevin lose.

Well Kentucky gave a large FU to Trump, upset the incumbent governor and voted for the Democrat.

Andy Beshear (Democrat) has won the Kentucky Governorship, defeating incumbent Matt Bevin (Republican) –– who @realDonaldTrump campaigned for at a rally Monday night.

This is an enormous victory for Democrats and a warning sign to @senatemajldr #MoscowMitch.

IMPEACH THE BASTARD!

The spin I'm seeing the wingnuts put on the Kentucky result was that Bevin lost merely because he was "personally unpopular", so this isn't a harbinger of more bad results for the Party of Trump. But the reason he was so unpopular is that he opposed Medicaid expansion and attacked striking teachers -- that is, that he governed as a Republican.

It's also worth noting that Moscow Mitch is also very personally unpopular. His approval/disapproval numbers are similar to Bevin's.

He's going to have a tough time spinning these results.

And after the Orange Blob personally went down there to beg for votes for Bevin? Tssk tssk. Twitter will be melting over this one.
Congrats also to Virginia for going totally blue in the state House and Senate so they can finally get some sane legislation passed with Republiclown obstruction.
Also, Mississippi Democrats came closer than I would've ever believed, so congrats to them, too!
All in all it was a great day for Democrats and America and a terrible day for Trumpy and his cult followers.

We'll see next November. Hopefully these results are the harbinger of a Trump shellacking next November.

All politicians and both parties spin election results, among many other things. I remember 2016. If the economy stays strong and robust I doubt this November's results will have much of an impact year from now.

In Deep Red Mississippi, Republicans did win the governor’s race.
Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves defeated Attorney General Jim Hood by about five percentage points. The Democrats lost by about FIVE POINTS IN MISSISSIPPI. I know, a loss is a loss, but please consider, The Democrats lost by about FIVE POINTS IN MISSISSIPPI. The South is not out of reach anymore. Wins in Virginia, Kentucky, and a squeaker loss in Mississippi. Our political future gets brighter every day in the South. As crazy as these words sound, Georgia and Texas are within the Democrats reach.

We imagine that the Trump Defense Team (Send in the Clowns) is busy dreaming up new spins..."Kurdish interference", "Kelly Anne's leftist husband", "Kentucky has always been treasonous" and "that whistleblower did it". Meanwhile the GOP eagerly awaits the new excuse in their kneeling position.

Both sides will spin on the results to take credit. Maybe this will force the RNC and the DNC to come up with a better candidate than the ones they have now. DJT and lying lizzy are not the hope and change the country needs. Now we need hope for change.

Seen on a rabid right wing blog: "Beshear was way down until Trump came to Kentucky and campaigned for him and brought his numbers up about 15 points, which is huge.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I read... you're exactly right. "If it wasn't for Trump, Bevin would have been crushed." No thought at all that just maybe Trump is part of the problem. There is some validity to Beshear being a terrible candidate, much like Cruz was in Texas. But even with that, as Lee Arnold said, it's the south and the fact that Dems are even close should scare the pants off the GOP.

If they lose Texas, or Florida, it's over for a generation for the GOP.

But we will see. Stranger things have happened and I for one am still sticking with my belief that if he is in office, Trump will win again. After all, "I'm going to make the economy even betterer" is just not a compelling message.

I must say, and give full credit where credit is due iRTSYDHT, tRump is the world champion bullsh*t*er and con man.

What is astounding is the number of 1/2 wits who buy his bullsh*t.

And yes... I did in fact get the Kentucky candidates criss crossed. I was tired...

Rev, The GOP said the same thing about the dems when Jimmy got trounced. People forget and hate the current person in office, of course except for the swell guy. It is like airlines when people say I will never fly x again until y screws them up then back to x.

I don't think trump will win so we differ in that opinion. I am just trying to finding an acceptable alternative and lying lizzy ain't it.

skud, back up your name-calling Senator Warren with facts or your comment calling her "lying lizzy" will be deleted.

Also, how sad it is to see a grown man emulate a 10-year-old minded malignant narcissist. You've stooped to calling people names just like the Idiot-in-Chief. I guess Trump DOES inspire his cultists.

Dave Miller said...

Well guys... I'm not a Warren backer, primarily because I don't think she can win and she's not talking much about fiscal responsibility, something important to me. It's amazing that in a "booming economy" our deficit is climbing. As it did during the Clinton Boom, or Bush the Elder Boom, we eschewed tax cuts and got ourselves a balanced budget.

They cycle has historically worked like this... good times, deficit goes down as cash in on higher taxes. bad time, deficit grows as we add incentives/tax cuts to the mix.

Trump has blown this up and don't think Warren will be much better on that front.

Skud, as for the GOP disgust with Carter, let's remember that he was about as moral a man who has been president in our lifetimes. Yet the GOP hated him. While calling for morality in office. Interesting turn of events isn't it?

But when
BlueBull call the President the Orange Blob you were silent!
How comes? Double Standard!

Les Carpenter said...

Fiscal responsibility is no longer a concept or principle valued by EITHER party. Who wasit that said some time ago, we're all Keynesians now? I think it was Nixon but I'm not sure.

Anyway fiscal responsibility is cutting taxes during a stagnant or recessionary economic cycle and RAISING taxes during economic expansion and low unemployment.

Fiscal responsibility is about finding a balance between economic boom and economic slack times. This requires discipline, commitment, legislative and managerial proficiency, as well as the honesty and integrity to tell the TRUTH. All things severely lacking since 1980.

Les Carpenter said...

Dave,I note that Carter was a conservative southern democrat. He was the last Chief Executive that actually had concern over fiscal RESPONSIBILITY. After the 1980 election fiscal responsibility pretty much flew out the window. With just a brief return during the later year of Clinton's administration. Fiscal responsibility has been relegated to the ash heap of history I'm afraid.

Shaw Kenawe said...

No double standard, Liz. BlueBull was expressing the truth.
