Good question.

 BREAKING NEWS:

Occupy Democrats @OccupyDemocrats

Officials announce that they pulled ex-Trump campaign Chairman Paul Manafort from a plane and revoked his passport as he tried to flee to Dubai after the US Senate declared him “a grave national security threat” over his Russian ties.

Michael Beschloss @BeschlossDC

Why was Judge Jackson being asked, “What faith are you, by the way?”

Senator Lindsey Graham questioned Judge Jackson on her religion. Why did he do that? It's not even legal to do that during a job interview, so what was his motive in doing so yesterday?

"The No Religious Test Clause of the United States Constitution is a clause within Article VI, Clause 3:

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States." It immediately follows a clause requiring all federal and state office holders to take an oath or affirmation to support the Constitution. This clause contains the only explicit reference to religion in the original seven articles of the U.S. Constitution."

I don't recall Graham asking Amy Coney Barrett any questions about her religion during her confirmation hearing. I don't recall anyone calling for Amy Coney Barrett's LSAT scores either.

But Judge Jackson was subjected to this nonsense during her nomination process.

I wonder why.

Found this on Twitter, and it made me spew coffee all over my desk:

No need to wonder. In a word, racism. As well as the delusion that we are a Christian nation.

Ole lindsay graham lost his moral compass when Senatorm John McCain passed away.

After all of these reveals how can ANYONE in the Senate support her? If they do it will It would TRULY show their true RED COLORS.

N.i.m.n.

Judge Jackson has plenty of support in the Senate, enough to get her on the SCOTUS. Apparently you are the victim of propaganda put out by the real Reds. (Tucker "I'm on Russia's side" Carlson?)

Tell us all why you believe these organizations "show their true RED COLORS."

"In a letter sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday, the International Association of Chiefs of Police urged senators to confirm U.S. Circuit Court Judge Jackson to the high court.

NATIONAL FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE: From our analysis of Judge Jackson’s record and some of her cases, we believe she has considered the facts and applied the law consistently and fairly on a range of issues. There is little doubt that she has the temperament, intellect, legal experience, and family background to have earned this appointment. We are reassured that, should she be confirmed, she would approach her future cases with an open mind and treat issues related to law enforcement fairly and justly. We wish her well as the confirmation process begins."

Tell us why you believe police organizations are "RED?"

I can't help but suspect this anti-constitutional, un-American "Republican Religious Test" is applied in hopes the nominee will admit to being an atheist or Muslim.

That's all they'd need to demonize and dismiss a Black nominee.

As Lee "Willie Horton" Atwater said of the Southern Strategy, "Y’all don’t quote me on this. You start out in 1954 by saying, ‘Ni**er, ni**er, ni**er’. By 1968 you can’t say ‘ni**er’—that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states’ rights and all that stuff."

Updated to 2022, you can’t say "ni**er"—that hurts you. Backfires. So say stuff like "Atheist", "Muslim", "BLM, "Antifa", and "CRT".

Simply another spouting of otherism and racism by a deluded fool. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Here's one of the Mother Ships geezers telling us what he thinks of Judge Jackson (it's always about race):

Mustang:"Doesn’t it serve the interests of the American people to have Kunta Kinte on the Supreme Court bench?"

That poor excuse for a human being sees Judge Jackson only by the color of her skin, the very definition of racism. But whose surprised, that blog is filled with low-intelligence yahoos proud of their racism and the first to tell ya how Christian they are.

At least we know Judge Jackson would wipe the floor with that a$$hole if he ever had a chance to debate her. and he probably knows that too, that's why he's so envious and has to show his white supremacy by calling her Kunta Kinte -- those knuckle draggers never got over the fact that an African-American lived for 8 years in the WHITE House.

Projection?

Likely, as Senator Lindsey Graham shows everyone his racist core:

Senator Durbin: “Allow her to finish, please.”

Graham ignored this and said to Ketanji, “If you’re on the internet trolling for images of children in sexual exploitation. So you don’t think that’s a bad thing. I think it’s a horrible thing.”

Durban, “That is not what the witness said, and she should be allowed to answer this question once and for all.”

Calling Republicans vermin only insults rats and cockroaches.

Dave D., I can fully understand your anger after reading that exchange with Sen. Graham, but I don't want to sink to the Trumpers' level of calling them "vermin" or "cockroaches." There are Commenters on the Geeez blog who call Muslims and other people they don't like "vermin," and that's what the Nazis called Jews. I don't like it.

Lindsey Graham is a moral coward. In July 2015, when Graham was a presidential candidate, he called Donald Trump, then another presidential candidate, a "jackass" for saying that Graham's close friend, Senator John McCain, was "not a war hero."

Sen. Lindsey Graham said it’s time for Republicans to rebuke presidential hopeful Donald Trump, urging his party to tell Trump to “go to hell.”

“You know how you make America great again? Tell Donald Trump to go to hell,” Graham said on CNN’s “New Day” on Tuesday, picking up on the GOP front-runner’s famous slogan, “make America great again.”

"The South Carolina Republican was responding to Trump’s statement released Monday calling for the U.S. to ban all Muslims from entering the country."

“He’s a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot,” Graham told Alisyn Camerota. “He doesn’t represent my party. He doesn’t represents the values that the men and women who wear the uniform are fighting for. … He’s the ISIL man of the year.”

Those are strong, heartfelt condemnations of Trump, BUT FAKE, because Graham went on to kiss Trump's prodigious arse and grovel at his feet after he was elected!

Graham is a moral coward and his words on ANYTHING are not to be trusted.

IMO, Graham is a failed human being, not worth listening to on anything.

Republicans can't help but show their true racist colors when dealing with such a talented, smart and effective judge as Jackson so clearly is. The jealousy these rat faced bastards have eats them up as they know they will NEVER achieve even a fraction of that achieved by Judge Jackson. Republiscumbags continue to disgust me in every way.

Thank you Brandon! said...

We're never going to find out if KBJackson likes beer, are we.

Mike That's the answer Graham deserved.

TYB, What a comparison between Kavanaugh's and Jackson's hearing, eh? Kavanaugh was a slobbering crybaby, and KBJackson was a model of gracious deportment.

BluebullAmerica You should see the remarks the trolls have been leaving in comment moderation. Judge Jackson was a star, and the trolls are butt hurt! LOL!

Herd Ringer She certainly DID keep her cool, unlike the unhinged Graham and Cruz clowns.

Afrosheen- adverb/ adjective: A phrase you call someone who is both Ghetto and acts crazy like Charlie Sheen at the same time.

She has done an amazing job of answering questions or jenspeak. Unlike kavanaugh and barrett the questions to jackson have been about her performance as a judge and her opinions on civil authority. She was great on avoiding the define a woman for which she is. There has been no calling her a racist for having a white spouse and no investigations into her college years. Just shows that it can be a civil process if allowed to be as long as it is not a conservative appointment.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skudrunner, your snark and total disregard of what happened during the hearings is duly noted.

Judge Jackson has the support of the Fraternal Order of Police and the International Association of Chiefs of Police, so the Trumpublicans' claim that she's soft on crime is b.s. Do they really believe those law enforcement organizations would support a judge "soft on crime?"

She received the highest marks from the ABA (the same as Justice Barrett) and everyone who knows her and worked with her has given her the highest acclaims.

What is "jenspeak?" Never heard of it.

Why do you bring up her husband and race? And maybe there was no need to "investigate" her college years because no one came forward with accusations of sexual misconduct!

If you're referring to Justice Kavanaugh, I remember how he cried, pouted, yelled, and said he liked beer! His utter lack of self-control and dignity was appalling, but the deal had been made, and so he's on the court.

None of those histrionics were apparent during Judge Jackson's hearings.

One last thing. Your friends over at the Geeez blog referred to Judge Jackson as a "Afrosheen." Do you know what that means? It's a racist term that means a crazy black person from the ghetto.

One can disagree with Judge Jackson's rulings or methodology, but those creeps ALWAYS insult a black person with racial slurs when it's someone not in their tribe. But racists gotta racist, I guess.

Skud's notion of "civil process", Exhibit A:

Senator Durbin: “Allow her to finish, please.”

Graham ignored this and said to Ketanji, “If you’re on the internet trolling for images of children in sexual exploitation. So you don’t think that’s a bad thing. I think it’s a horrible thing.”

Durbin, “That is not what the witness said, and she should be allowed to answer this question once and for all.”

Horrible people say horrible things.

I said nothing about her qualifications just the fact that she is being treated with respect unlike the treatment of kavanaugh, barrett, bork and thomas. If you do some research you may find that they were treated with a great deal of disrespect. Barrett was accused of being a racist because she adopted black children, but I think you knew that and you are aware of jenspeak or give no answer to a question and just spin it.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skudrunner "she is being treated with respect"

The millions of viewers who watched the hearings and I disagree with that statement.

Judge Jackson did not evade any question. Marsha Blackburn's ridiculous question asking for a definition of "woman," had no place in a hearing on qualifications for a judge to sit on the SCOTUS. What on earth was Blackburn thinking.

skud: "Barrett was accused of being a racist because she adopted black children"

As far as I could find in my research on that, it was on person, a professor at BU. One person.

Josh Mandel, a Republican running for US Senator from Ohio said he opposes Judge Jackson for SCOTUS because “she’s an abortionist. She supports the murder of innocent children.”

That's one person also. Are you going to always pick out the craziest of crazies to represent what everyone thinks? It appears you do by your quote above.

No reasonable person would EVER say Justice Barrett is racist because she adopted two Haitian children. Citing that one exception does nothing for your attempts to bothsiderism on Judge Jackson's hearings.

For the 1st 127 years when only white Christian men were allowed to be Supreme Court Justices, there were zero confirmation hearings. Confirmation hearing was invented for the 1st Jewish nominee. -- Lawrence O'Donnell

"...in 1916, President Woodrow Wilson picked his aide Louis Brandeis for a spot on the court.

Lucas Powe, a professor of law and government at the University of Texas, explains what happened next.

Professor LUCAS POWE (Law and Government, University of Texas; Author, "The Supreme Court and the American Elite, 1789-2008"): Brandeis was a spectacularly controversial nomination. First, he was the first Jew ever to be nominated for the court, and there was blatant anti-Semitism there.

Second, he'd been a very successful lawyer. And after he got really rich, he became what seems to be the first public-interest lawyer in American history, and he started to take on corporations that formerly he would have been taking money from as their advocate, and thus he made a lot of enemies. And former President Taft, Harvard President Lowell, former Attorney General Wickersham, former Secretary of State Elihu Root and several former presidents of the American Bar Association all opposed his nomination.

Mitch McConnell shows us how to lie, and then say you're a bigot in different words:

"I went into the Senate’s consideration of Judge Jackson’s nomination with an open mind.

But after studying the nominee’s record and watching her performance this week, I cannot and will not support Judge Jackson for a lifetime appointment to our highest Court."

Maybe he thinks she's only 3/5 qualified?

(McConnell voted to confirm Judge Jackson to the federal bench.)

The American Bar Association rated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson "well qualified" for the position of Supreme Court Justice.

If only her husband had tried to overturn the election...

skudrunner said...

Why are we even having this confirmation hearing. She will get the job so why spend millions giving both sides time to preach from their pulpit. there is nothing in her past to disqualify her from the position and ALL justices are partisan.
