Right as the pigs start to fly.

The people of California do not object to the higher standards. Not a single auto executive is standing with the Admin on this. We've heard no politicians outside the admin advocating for this. It truly is a solution in search of a problem.

For almost 50 years the Feds have set a baseline of standards and allowed states to develop more stringent policies, if they so choose. And for 50 years, the system has worked and as a result, especially in California, the air is substantially better. I lived through the years in So Cal where we could not see the mountains on a clear summer day because of the pollution.

And serving and working in Mexico, all I have to do is visit the capital there to be reminded of what it looks and feels like. burning eyes, grey skies and pain trying to breathe.

Why on earth would anyone want to return to those days?

Why would a political party that supports states rights and for years has called states the "laboratories of democracy" not stand up and cry foul right now? Remember, it was GOP President Nixon who founded the EPA.

Is that trump's goal? First, the party that has touted "family values" for decades, cast its lot with a thrice-married lout who cheats on each of his three wives. The evangelical Christians, particularly, have thrown their support to Trump who is literally the human embodiment of each of the Seven Deadly Sins. Can you imagine a better example of lust, greed, gluttony, sloth, envy or pride -- much less all of them in a single person? Those seven traits literally encapsulate the entirety of Donald Trump's persona. And now, the coup de grace -- the party whose battle cry for the past half-century has been "states' rights" is trampling on the rights of the state of California. At the same time, this "party of business" has disregarded even the preferences of businesses. No one wants this rollback -- not the people, not the business community. It serves absolutely no purpose other than to take away an Obama accomplishment -- and if it contributes to the demise of humanity, too bad. What does the GOP even stand for any more, other than the wrath of its president over his injured pride, driven by his envy toward his predecessor, who was his superior in every way? When will the Republicans stand up to this narcissistic bully? He is despicable.R.D.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1883838569462983439.post-17973513769015515952019-09-17T22:39:10.511-04:002019-09-17T22:39:10.511-04:00RN I heard it's too close to call.
