There's more to eating healthy than apples and exercise and the gym isn't exactly fun. But if you stick with it for the long haul the results in terms of personal appearence and HEATH benefits are HUGELY satisfying.
Cynics will always find a way to cavil even at something as inoffensive as encouraging healthy eating and exercise. And of course the right-wing blogs will start aiming sarcastic insults at Mrs. Obama over this, just as they do with everything she does that gets any attention. But it will have a good effect regardless. I'm just glad she clearly has a thick skin and the ability to have fun.
This raises another issue (though a minor one) with the possibility of Chris Christie becoming President. Is that the kind of role model we want to put in front of young people?

ReplyDeleteWell of course we know that.
ReplyDeleteWhat this is about is symbolism.
The athletes, whom kids look up to, are saying grab the apple and the water instead of the chips and soda.
And Mrs. Obama rocks.
Amazing, beautiful woman.
ReplyDeleteSymbolism indeed. Reminds me of Just Say No.
ReplyDelete"Just Say No" was never this much fun.
ReplyDeleteI suppose you have a point.
DeleteI'm just depressed it wasn't a beer summit...
