Interesting viewpoint. I must say that religion has never inspired any feelings in me other than feeling threatened and frustrated, but what he says about awe and kindness may be more applicable to the greater number of atheists who grew up religious and later broke away from it.
Whatever feelings astrophysics inspires in people, at least those feelings aren't tied to unverifiable supernatural claims, nor are they the product of a system which ultimately evolved to control people.

Yes, Infidel753, those were my thoughts when I found this video. Science inspires awe based on verifiable facts. That, to me, makes it wonderous.
