Day 3 of the DNC Convention: Unity

Unity

President Obama gave a speech for the ages.

 PM Carpenter:

 "Last night: thematic genius

The unifying theme of last night's speeches was striking. Here was the modern Democratic Party, in its most left-leaning phase since 1972, making profound appeals to authentic conservatism. After Bernie Sanders' stabs at a leftist "political revolution," the party came together and offered itself as a conservative-progressive solution, much as it did under the tutelage of FDR.

Under President Obama's ingenious guidance, the Democratic Party has again grown up. It's holding true to its progressive credentials and aims while appealing to the nation's genuinely conservative instincts, because — like it or not, Bernie-or-Busters — that is where the American electorate is. The conservative-progressive, or progressive-conservative, theme (viewer's choice) was unbroken throughout the evening.

Former Republican and permanent billionaire Michael Bloomberg subordinated all ideologies and opted instead to portray the Republican Party's millionaire nominee as both insane and a world-class charlatan. "The richest thing about Donald Trump is his hypocrisy," said Bloomberg, adding, “Trump says he wants to run the nation like he’s running his business. God help us!"

His is a "record of bankruptcies and thousands of lawsuits and angry stockholders and contractors who feel cheated and disillusioned customers who feel they’ve been ripped off." Trump is a fraud, as is his self-proclaimed "conservatism."

  1. It was a magnificent speech by our President. I'm going to miss this great man and his wonderful family. He's by far the best president of my longish lifetime, so far. Thank you for everything you've done, President Obama. Can you imagine how much better off our nation would be today if the useless right wing had done anything other than obstruct and act stupid and racist?

  2. What was Hillary thinking? Hillary had a chance to pick the next President in 2024 and beyond and she picks Kaine? Mrs. Cankles picked him in an attempt to garner the evangelical vote. Which might have worked in the Republican party but the party that has nothing but disdain for those of faith? I think it might backfire.
And you know, I'm getting Sick and Tired of hearing American candidates speaking Spanish to apease these these illegal immigrants that can't Speekie English!

  3. A cretinous troll left this pile of idiocy in the comments, and it needs to be answered because I've seen this rot published around the internet:

"As for Michelle's comment about " wakeing[sic] up every day in a house built by Slaves"
The bottom line is slavery was the norm in many parts of the country back then. You can't judge the actions of people who lived 200 years ago based on today's moral standards. It was what it was."

I suggest that this troll read a history book, because if it did, it would learn that one can certainly "judge the actions of people" who lived 200 years ago.

Many western civilization abolished slavery and the slave trade because it was and is inhuman. Denmark, Britain, The Netherlands, Sweden, Portugal, France, for example, stopped the slave trade before the U.S. did. Vermont, an independent republic after the American Revolution, abolished slavery in 1777. Massachusetts abolished slavery in 1781. Other states that abolished slavery before the Civil War:

EXISTING STATES (and when it was abolished):

    Pennsylvania in 1780
    New Hampshire in 1783
    Connecticut in 1784
    New York in 1799
    New Jersey in 1804

NEW STATES THAT NEVER ALLOWED SLAVERY:

    Maine
    Michigan
    Wisconsin
    Ohio
    Indiana
    Kansas
    Oregon
    California
    Illinois

So yes, one can judge the actions of people who continued to hold slaves because there were millions of people who acknowledged that slavery was wrong, inhumane, and horribly degrading to the people held in slavery and to the people who practiced it.

  4. Well "Ted," I suggest you stick your fingers in your ears whenever you hear Spanish being spoken, because Spanish is America's second language, and a beautiful language, too. People were speaking that language on this continent long before the Anglo-Saxons arrived.

And if you had half a brain, but like most Gooper trolls, you don't even have that, you'd understand that many, many, many LEGAL people speak Spanish. You come off sounding like an ignorant racist. The GOP seems to attract them these days like flies to a pile of crap.

Hay días tontos y tontos todos los días
