Andrew Chopivsky
AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE - Back in 2003 my friend Michael was a journalist with TIME Magazine. He was in a Humvee in Iraq. He was there to report back to you on the war.
Michael's wife worked with me. There were several times when they were over at our house and we talked, we ate shrimp, we laughed, and we drank too much. We attended several events together. Michael and Judith traveled to New York to attend our wedding. Michael is an award-winning investigative reporter and book author. He had been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
Back to the Humvee. Michael, an accompanying photographer, and several soldiers were in a Humvee when a grenade was tossed into it. Michael grabbed the grenade and started to toss it out the window when it exploded. Michael got shrapnel in his chest, in his arm, and he lost his right hand and lower part of his right arm. He took the brunt of the explosion and saved three lives.
I thought you might want to meet one of the enemies of the people.
The American people are the enemy of their own democracy.
ReplyDeleteI disagree, Anonymous. A certain segment of the U.S. population saw exactly the kind of cheating scoundrel DJT is and decided that sort of character would make a great president. They believed his b.s. promises: Wall. Mexico. Pay., which he has not and will not deliver. They belived that a man who cheated on all three wives, and humiliated his 3rd wife by shagging a porn star and a Playboy playmate just after Melania gave birth to his 5th child --THOSE "American people" saw nothing wrong with putting a lying cheat in the Oval Office if it got them tax breaks (the majority didn't -- only the 1% made out well, because the tax breaks for them are permanent.) Also, they betrayed America just so they could piss off liberals, when it is THEY who will be remembered for their cultish support of a monumental charlatan.
ReplyDeleteA majority of Americans reject the lying worm and our western allies know him as a lying buffoon who has humiliated America.
So, no. Not "the American people," the American people who voted for and continue to support Trump: The Cultists.
Well said Shaw.
ReplyDeletetRump and his supporters are indeed enemies of our democratic republic and the values that MADE AMERICA GREAT.
That certain segment was large enough to elect him president. And Americans had plenty of evidence through the primaries to know what kind of scum liar he was; if his history of the previous 40 years wasn't enough.
ReplyDeleteThen apparently, millions of Americans were persuaded by false propaganda from all sorts of origins. Why do you think political advertising has been such a big part of campaigns over the centuries and amounting to multi-millions of dollars? Because it works and gullible Americans can be sold anything from spray on hair to Donald Trump.
Sure, Republicans had the edge with gerrymandering, but Democrats have had that same edge in our political history. Cry all you want about the Electoral College, but it is the mathematical formula America has used since the beginning of the country to elect our presidents, and yes, their is a certain strategy to making sure a party gets that EC edge. It's no surprise that at some point a candidate that did not win the popular vote would win the election, and it's not the first time that has happened.
If you are looking for blame as to why Trump is president look to the American people, not Putin. And vote tampering has also been going on (besides just political false propaganda) all through American political history, and in fact, has been much worse in our earlier elections than it is today.
The fact that Trump denies Putin had anything to do with tampering in our elections just proves what a money grabbing traitor Trump is. It is not the main reason Trump won the election. Trump got 48% of the vote, so did Bill Clinton.
P.S.
ReplyDeleteTrump supporters ARE Americans, deal with that.
Anonymous, I know that Trump cultists ARE Americans. In any given population there will always be gullible, easily fooled people. There's an old saying attributed to A. Lincoln, but not proved that addresses one of the reasons Trump was able to get elected and why now a majority of Americans reject him:
ReplyDeleteYou can fool all of the people some of the time; you can fool some of the people all of the time; but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
We've always had scoundrels running for and attaining political office. We're human beings who are flawed and who, on a regular basis, refuse to see what's in front of our noses. That explains some of what we're dealing with where Trump is concerned, but not everything. Trump, IMO, is an outlier and an especially malignant politician. He's a morrally diseased human being who is damaging America, and it will take us a long time to undo what he has done.
Shame on the GOP and the cultists who continue to support Trump.
The American voter wanted hope and change from the traditional politician who's only talent was to promise to work for the people and instead they work for themselves and the party. Our political system has been corrupt from the day we became a country and for decades we have allowed our elected elite free rain to pillage for their own gain.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately this change has not gone well because of the massive ego of orange hair and his need to strike back. I think there is a base that supports him and I think there is a base that supports what he is trying to accomplish.
I would add Ms Shaw that shame on the democrats for promising the nomination eight years earlier to such a flawed and unlikable individual that she lost to a yellow haired bully.
You're amazing skudrunner. Your attempt to deflect responsibility for The Great Orange Turd onto democrats and HCR is, to say the least amusing.

ReplyDeleteLess, anything worthwhile to say or just typical insults.
ReplyDeleteOrange is a one term president then we can get a fiscal conservative who is not an ass. The loss of seats is expected in mid term is will be interesting to see if this election will be equal to or higher than BHO's mid term shellacking.
Name is spelled Les BTW.
DeleteIf correctly pointing out your attempt at deflection and referring to it as amusing to me is considered an insult please accept my apology.
We will never again see a real fiscal conservative in my never humble opinion skudrunner. Neither the Republican party or the Democratic party is focused on debt reduction or actually reducing annual deficit spending. Both Democrats and Republicans increase the national debt and accept deficit spending as the normal and find it completely acceptable.
Having said the above I note that federal spending, deficits, and debt explosion really took off during the Reagan administration and it has been downhill every since. Note also 4 of the last six presidents has been Republican. Or put another way 26 of the last 38 years have been with a Republican president. GHWB was the last republicans President who had a right to wear the mantle with pride.
Democrats spend taxpayer money differently than republicans and under tRump The Giant Orange Turd (as well as GWB) I for one independent will take the way democrats budget and spend our money hands down over republicans.
With any luck 2018 will be a shellacking for repubs and 2020 will fumigate the White House, putting The Giant Orange Turd and his rancid administration out to pasture.
