Shaw... but it's not just Trump. He has remade the party in his image. A bigoted, racist image, lying, bullying image.
Lest the rightwingers think I'm wrong, in spite of the evidence we can see daily on the HMS Mothership, here's what, wait for it, evangelical Christian Michael Gerson, a graduate of Wheaton College recently wrote about the GOP in Texas.
"For a glimpse of what the total absence of faith and character looks like, see the Republican Party of Texas. In the aftermath of Floyd’s death, a dozen elected leaders of the GOP wrote or retweeted racist memes and conspiracy theories. Comal County Republican Party Chair Sue Gafford Piner propagated the idea that philanthropist George Soros is funding a race war. Bexar County GOP Chair Cynthia Brehm suggested that Floyd’s death was staged to hurt President Trump’s reelection chances. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller wrote that the civil rights protesters are “domestic terrorists who were organized and paid for by George Soros.”
This is not the rejection of “political correctness”; it is the success of white supremacy in the Texas Republican Party. The GOP, in many places, has become an institution where leaders are elevated and groomed for cruelty and bigotry. This is what happens when the president of the United States normalizes racism and mainstreams ideological madness.
These are not outliers... these are the views of what is now the mainstream of the Republican Party. We're seeing it everyday. Melania can tweet all she wants, the reality is she's married to a immoral pu**y grabbing racist leader of a racist party who lies at prodigious levels and who cheated on her when when she was pregnant with their son Baron.
Thankfully Gerson, who wrote the above OpEd, is not part of the evangelical group who supports DJT.
I visited the Mother Ship's blog to see what they were discussing.
A bunch of older white people talking about why the African-American community deserves to be profiled and that young black men should expect what's been done to them because of the crimes other young black men have committed. That's about it in a nut(!)shell.
None of them would ever say such a thing about young white men who've committed the majority of gun massacres in this country. They'd never say all young white men should expect police harassment because young white men with guns are responsible for mass shootings.
This isn't what they call blog gossiping. I go there to try to understand Trump supporters.
I've failed. I don't understand their continuing support for Trump. For a group of people who love to show off what great Christians they are, they're doing a miserable job of promoting their Savior's message of love.
The guy who wrote that African-Americans should be grateful for their slave history because they'd be living in hovels in their ancestral countries in Africa is the same guy who advocated the killing of President Obama. And those people smugly write about what horrible examples Black parents are for their children?
The last people I'd look to for answers to America's racial problems are the folks who hang out and expose their racial hatreds on that blog.
I wonder if any of them have done any extensive reading on the history of race in America.
I wonder if they know that up until 1971, black American citizens were still being lynched in the South? I wonder if they know what red lining did to the African-Americans who left the South during the Great Migration for a better life. I wonder if they even know what The Great Migration was, what the causes were, and what happened when American blacks tried to find a better life for themselves and their families. I wonder if they know ANYTHING about the struggles for equality and justice the black communities have dealt with. I wonder if they know about the white supremacists who massacred and destroyed thriving countless black communities.
"Most of these massacres were designed to suppress voting rights, land ownership, economic advancement, education, freedom of the press, religion, LGBTQ rights, and/or labor rights of African Americans, Latinos, Native Americans, Asians, and immigrants. While often referred to as “race riots,” they were massacres to maintain white supremacy.
May 31, 1921: Tulsa Massacre In what became known as the Tulsa Massacre, white supremacists destroyed a thriving Black community in Oklahoma. This is one of countless white supremacist massacres in U.S. history."
From what I've read of their comments, they know NOTHING, except what they read on Breitbart or hear from Limbaugh and their racist president, Trump or get from false blast emails that are full of lies and distortions.
I hope the American people keep in mind what has happened this spring and think of that and the past chaotic 4 years with Trump when they go to vote in November.
Not that it is news but the GOP as a political are clearly a racist party intentionally dividung America along racial lines. As everyone knows Donald J. Trump is an experienced expert at dividing. He and his cultist followers believe in Divide and Conquer as the sure fire way of Taking America Back to a reality the American majority has been trying to eradicate for years.
Shaw, you're assuming any of them are aware of the Tulsa massacre.
But thinking about profiling or stereotyping, the great majority of mass murders in our country are done by white men. Should we assume that all white men are mass killers because of the stats. Or should we treat all of them as individuals?
There are plenty of white stereotypes if folks stop and think about it, and a lot of date to back it up. Serial killers? White. Child molesters? White. Etc., etc.
Yet those stereotypes the Geez crowd pushes are only ever valid when they indict a person of color.
Here's another angle for our conservative "friends" to consider and respond to...
Today Pres Trump retweeted about the 75 year old man who was shoved to the ground by Buffalo and left bleeding by fellow officers. The retweet was from a OANN reporter, named Kristian Rouz. She is a Russian national who also writes for Kremlin-owned Sputnik.
Take a moment and let that sink in conservatives. The president YOU support, is retweeting and amplifying the words and views of an employee of RUSSIAN STATE MEDIA designed to slam and malign an American citizen.
And you all love and respect him.
It is simply incredible the depths to which the extremists have fallen to continue to support DJT and overlook behaviors and actions that just 4 years ago they would have decried as enabling America's enemies.

I didn't know that. It's amazing that the same people who reviled President Obama as a "Moslem" have no problem with Trump being cozy with the Russians nd passing on their propaganda.
First of all, Trump is reckless in doing this against one of his own citizens, and second it's astonishing that America has a president who incites racial unrest.
Only in America can a 75 year old man get shoved by the police, hit his head on the pavement with blood pouring out his ears, get a subdural hematoma requiring serial CT scans and even a possible craniotomy, and the President of the United States calls him a terrorist on Twitter.
New York Police Benevolent Association President Mike O’Meara presents the most powerful and emotion argument in support of defunding and deconstructing the police I've seen this week. His entire remarks and the tone in which they are delivered appear to be an effort to demonstrate that the protesters are right. The spittle flying from his mouth as he spoke is an added bonus.
Shaw... when DJT criticized Kap, it was just his attempt to "Be Best" and support his wife in her campaign to stop cyber bullying.

I wonder why? It's either blindness or racism.

ReplyDelete"I wonder why? It's either blindness or racism."
Both. Willful blindness to history and a big dollop of their smug racism.
You know first hand all about it, and my grandson is about to experience it when he marries his long-time girlfriend.
Shaw... he's going into a better, albeit, not perfect place.
ReplyDeleteCongrats...
