We are not a functioning democratic republic in the true sense of the word. Thanks to an antiquated pos clause in the constitution called the electoral college. That, and the now corrupted SCOTUS.
The road to tyranny is laid by conservatives and religionists and will ultimately be the final political reality of the US. TYRANNY for all.
