So if red state and blue state Americans have special needs children, you're on your own!
The Trump administration won't care.
For the record that department funds, among other things, all the special education and special needs program in public schools and public colleges in all 50 states."
tRump absolutely loves the uneducated and ignorant as they are easily bamboozled and manipulated.
ReplyDeleteThe MAGA train to disaster is picking up steam. The gates will be blown wide open 01/20/2025.
ReplyDeletePeaceful Resistance based in intelligence, compassion, knowledge, love for fellow sentient beings, and a deep commitment and perseverance in upholding democracy, equality, rule of law, and human decency against the draconian fascist agenda coming down the pike in just over 2 months must be the path for truly Patriotic Americans.
Fascism and authoritarianism is the common enemy of all freedom/liberty loving Americans. We must stay united to ultimately defeat the scourge of tRump and the MAGA lie.
What purpose does the dept of education have. Is it to determine which union president has the most power. Is it to select books, set qualifications for teachers. No but it does dole out funds for schools who toe the line and restrict funds for those who don't.
ReplyDeleteEducation is a county decision and should fall under states rights. I know you hate states rights but what will the department of education do for a poor district in Mississippi or Oregon.
Our education system is broken and the department of education has done nothing to help fix it other than lower standards.
Your questions about the Dept. of Education shows you know nothing about it or what control states have over their public education.
ReplyDeleteUniversity of Nevada, Reno:
"States and local governments still maintain control of their educational systems. Establishing schools, developing curricula, setting requirements for academic progression and graduation, choosing books and materials, and determining academic standards are all done at state and local levels.
Individual states set licensing requirements for teachers and other educational staff. But all of these things cost money; do local school districts and states have enough money to fund all the work they do for students in schools?
In short – no. This is where the Department of Education plays a role. Congress appropriates funds for the Department of Education that are then primarily distributed to students, state and local educational agencies, and community-based organizations that support students. For example, every state receives funds through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act to support the education of students with disabilities in their local schools. Every state receives funds through Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (you may have known it as No Child Left Behind, now reauthorized as the Every Student Succeeds Act) that supports students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, students with limited English proficiency, Native American children, and children who are neglected or delinquent. The Department also funds postsecondary education directly to students through Pell grants and student loans."
Do away with the Dept. of Ed., and certain students from poor states will fall further behind states with more money. That's how it works in third world countries, which Trump and his minions are on a course to do to the US.
BTW, UNR, which you quoted above, is helmed by longtime former Nevada GOP Governor Jim Sandoval, one of the best governors we've had in our state.
DeleteHe's very well respected across the state, in both rural and urban areas and in both parties.
So you do agree that they serve no purpose except to grant money which will still be available to the states based on a fairer system. How can anyone say our education system has not failed our children. The department of education is another bureaucratic institution that wastes money. They have a budget of 288 billion and provide 119 billion to schools. Wouldn't that extra169 billion be better spent if given to states.
ReplyDeleteWho agreed skud? Your own mind?
ReplyDeleteThe Dumbing Down of America the fascist lights of the "80" used to crow about will be brought to fruition by the Orange Menace that loves the uneducated and under educated. HIS OWN WORDS skud.
I'm guessing the Feds will simply block grant all the money they pay out now directly to the states and keep the funds they used to spend on administration for themselves.
ReplyDeleteOf course that means more administrative costs get pushed to the states, and those costs will come out of the block grants, thereby lowering the $$$ that states actually get to use.
