I'm proud of my city that has always been against tyrants and for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Old South Church:
It was established in 1669 as a breakaway congregation from the First Church in Boston, known as the Third Church, and later became Old South.
The church moved through several locations, including the Old Cedar Meeting House and the Old South Meeting House, before settling in its current building in the Back Bay in 1875.
The church is known for its role in American history, particularly its association with the Boston Tea Party and its long-standing commitment to social justice, including LGBTQ+ rights.
ACROSS THE CHARLES IS THE PROGRESSIVE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE. HOME TO MIT AND HARVARD. AND VERY, VERY WOKE AMERICANS!
As pagan as I am, this church practices what their Lord and Savior taught. I totally would worship there, lending my energies to their endeavors.
ReplyDeleteWisdom and Compassion: Hallmarks of True Spirituality and Grace.
ReplyDeleteIgnorance and Cruelty: Hallmarks of the Trump Administration and MAGA.
I don't view the last explanation as woke but as human. If hiring people based on meeting quotas, paying for rich kids tuition, eliminating women's right to compete in sports, attacking a model for an ad is woke than I am not for it.
ReplyDeleteYou know what I’m not for, skud? Giving preferential treatment to a woman who sex trafficked and sexually abused girls. The Trump administration is coddling a woman who was Epstein’s lover and Trump and Melanie’s close friend.
DeleteThat is far worse and morally reprehensible than what you listed as “ woke.”
The Trump administration has shown itself to be pro- pedophile, but anti-woke. Anyone who supports that needs some deep sel- reflection, IMO.
Skud,
DeleteNONE of what you listed is woke.
Wake up.
Merriam-Webster
Woke: aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)
Governor Ron DeSantis’ lawyers were forced by the court to define “woke.” The lead lawyer described it as “The belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them.”
Compassion, kindness, and decency are the basic qualities to address injustice. Anyone who whines about "anti-white racism" will never understand. They think merely hiring black people in jobs held mostly by white people is 'woke" and "quotas".
Kamala? "Woke!" the racist MAGAts howled.
Ketanji Brown Jackson? "Woke!" the racist MAGAts howled.
I'm sure I'll need to remind you again, after you dismiss all of this and forget it.
As the MAGA cult knows, all that woke stuff about compassion, kindness, and decency is for America-hating communists.
ReplyDelete"Real Christian" social media influencer Lilly (Fond of the N-Word on TikTok) Gaddis openly acknowledges racism as a vital component of a world conquest strategy: "Be racist. Make money. Laugh in their faces. Reclaim your country."
Sounds like the perfect shiksa for -FJ/Joe Con's fantasies. ;-)
It is the fever dream of Christain Nationalist MAGAts.
ReplyDeleteMs. Shaw, Keep with that theme that trump is evil because that is all the democrats have put forward.
ReplyDeleteOf course there is racism and there is abuse against women. Both of those is what fuels our politicians because coming up with ideas and governing is something they are not capable of.
Like I said...
ReplyDeleteLiving in the fever swamp that is MAGA suddsy if only able to mimic his Fuhrer's fevered idiocy.
Skud doesn't think opposing racism and abuse against women is a foundation of democracy. Yes, Trump is evil. He and his authoritarian party are doing their utmost to destroy democracy, incorporating racism and sexism toward that goal.
ReplyDeleteResisting their evil is an essential component of democratic governing. The same applies to rebuilding what the fascists are destroying.
Democrats are defending what's honorable in our government. Independent judiciary and law enforcement are essential to a democratic republic. Democrats support fair taxes, responsible regulation of commerce and the environment, and safety nets for the general welfare. The same is true for non-politicized scientific and medical research, free speech for universities, news networks, and law firms.
In other words, a constitutional republic with equal justice under the law.
Trump's war on all of these is YOUR agenda, apparently, since you're more obsessed with what you think is "woke" that anything of real importance.
When deluded folks listen to a charlatan and a fraud like the FOTUS they willingly give up their agency to a liar, a cheat, an authoritarian, a criminal, and a despicable and unethical POS.
ReplyDeleteDube, Depending on who is in power as to what your opinion is of democratic governing. "Democrats support fair taxes, responsible regulation of commerce" Fair taxes as long as we punish the rich and everyone doesn't pay their fair share. Law enforcement is a joke unless we are trying to rid the country of millions of uninvited guests from the incompetent former regime. What I think is we need competent leadership which we have been missing for at least 8 1/2 years.
ReplyDeleteYou can't regulate to prosperity and expect over regulation to bring down the cost of anything. Your statement about racism is a misunderstanding of spelling , it is jeans not genes.
Skud,
DeleteObviously you think the rich are "persecuted" by paying more taxes than the rest of us. Never mind they can buy the entire Republican party and half the democrats, but you want to see THEM as the "real victims" of our corrupt, bought and paid for system of government. Never mind the rich benefit from the needy being deprived of food stamps and healthcare.
Just admit this is what you really support and be done with it.
That said, it's interesting that you consider Obama was our last competent leadership. Was that a mistype?
The rich do pay more in taxes but you repeat the lie of the democrats because that is one of their lying talking points. Obama was a special interest president but he was competent.
ReplyDeleteSkud,
DeleteIs "the rich benefit from the needy being deprived of food stamps and healthcare" the Democrats "lie"?
This is what "Project 2025" is all about and those are elements of their bill that Trump signed.
If you dispute this, show evidence I am mistaken.
Accusing me of a lie without citing it, or showing any factual rebuttal, is not good faith discussion. You're not saying anything.
If you have nothing to add, why even respond to what I say?
Why not share your knowledge and insight, instead of resorting to baseless Trumpian accusations?
You know the answers to your questions to skud Dave Dubya. They have no facts, nothing aside from propaganda talking points.
DeleteI asked a simple question - "Why is taxing the Robber Baron class, who can stand to lose half of their wealth and still have enough money to last for 500 years without breaking a sweat, such an issue?"
I'm not talking about fair taxation going forward, I'm talking about reparations made to the American people from whom the Robber Barons have stolen so much. And yet, no answers, just what aboutism and an interesting implication that they are not like us. Good luck though.
Talking to the ignorant is exactly like talking to a brick wall. Only sometimes the brink wall seems much more intelligent.
ReplyDeleteSkud... under the premise of "To whom much is given, much is expected" I agree with most here... raise taxes on the better of us Americans.
ReplyDeleteIn the now more distant past, we built roads, hospitals, bridges, schools and more and still paid down our debt!
How, with a 92% upper tax rate signed into law by the mostly then racist Dems in Congress and a GOP President Eisenhower.
That was in the 1950's the closest "again" time most MAGA folks like you long for. All that building and economic growth did not just drop from trees, trickle down or trickle up. It cost money and our Congress, Senate and President back then made it happen.
Tell us all why you, as a MAGA supporter, do not favor returning to the actual policies that drove the great period of American history your fellow MAGA minions want to bring back.
Dave, That was also a time when the majority paid FIT not just the 51% who pay today. The chant of tax the rich is a rally cry that has existed for decades or even a century. Due to all of the deductibles the effective tax rate was low 40% so there is not a lot of difference in actual rate today as there was in 1950. But go ahead and chant tax the rich because it sounds good.
DeleteThe Fair Tax would make sure Everyone pays their Fair Share but then you couldn't chant tax the rich.
"Why is taxing the Robber Baron class" Because they make up 1% of earners and pay 49% of FIT now. Why not give everyone a chance to contribute to the politicians slush fund. Do you really believe if our elected elite had more money they would spend it wisely.
ReplyDeleteSkud,
ReplyDeleteWho decides what is "fair"? Corporations and oligarchs who buy corrupt politicians, or the average citizen?
"Fair" would be ending money going to politicians as "free speech". It is bribery.
All that does is secure the Orwellian idea that, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others".
Today's Pigs are clearly corporations, oligarchs, MAGA, and the Republican party.
That is how authoritarian minority rule is seized and held.
Dube, It is up to the politicians to rewrite the tax code and eliminate a lot of the tax deductible payoffs that goes on. You are smart enough to know they are not going to do that just like they are not going to institute term limits, limit speaking endorsements or the ability to invest from the insider knowledge, Ask madam pelosi.
DeleteDo you believe the FOTUS and his administration is spending money wisely. To lift up folks? If so how exactly. Please be very specific skud.
ReplyDeleteDave D... don't expect an answer from Skud on any questions. He's functionally like onetime NV Senate Candidate Sharron Angle was when asked a tough, direct question.
ReplyDeleteShe answered something else and when pressed to answer the question spilled the Skud/GOP beans, saying...
I'll answer the questions I want to answer.
I've been thinking back to my back and forth with Skud over the years... I think I've tried to be as direct as possible answering him and anyone else here. Sadly though, it's never reciprocated from our MAGA loving friends.
