WE ARE ALREADY THERE

I tried to put up a post about this unprecedented attack on our American democracy by the criminal president of the US, but I kept having trouble with my PC. So, I'm greatful to Dave Miller for his insights (which were the same as mine) on this serious attack on the rule of law by Trump and his toadies. This is how authoritarian regimes operate, and any American who celebrates this assault on our democracy isn’t worthy of being called an American.

 DAVE MILLER:

As we think about this case, here's a few things to consider...

1. There are over 100 lawyers in the Virginia Federal Prosecutors office. The former US Atty in the office resigned, rather than follow orders of non lawyer President Trump to get an indictment of Comey. That US Atty has stated there was no sufficient evidence to charge Comey.

2. None of the other more than 100 lawyers were willing to charge the case, because of a lack of evidence,

3. Trump's new US Atty in Virginia, as yet, only acting and not confirmed by the US Senate, has no, not some, no prosecutorial experience and has never in her life tried a case. Not one.

4. Trumps new US Atty in Virginia has worked in insurance law, not criminal law.

5. The Virginia office brought the charges over the objection of the entire office. How do we know this? US Attys do not sign charging documents, which Trump's appointee did in this case. Further, not a single other lawyer in the office signed on to this document, signaling a complete lack of support from the career lawyers at the Virginia office.

6. Trump, in violation of over 50 years of precedent, after Nixon tried to politicize the DOJ, has inserted himself into the process, personally overruled Sr DOJ lawyers and continues to try and influence and impact he case through his statements and social media accts.

This is a mess for the USA.

But... Trump and his cronies, including folks at the Mothership are ecstatic. Because in their minds, finally someone on the right will experience the full weight of a weaponized US government, as they believe those on the right have been living with since Nixon.

  1. “BREAKING: President Trump just accused former President Obama of treason and said he should face justice.

    Let that sink in.

The sitting U.S. President is threatening to prosecute his predecessor like a dictator and his base is foaming at the mouth for it.”

  2. As usual... Trump knows nothing. Even if we take what I am sure is Trump's understanding of our enemies, which at least according to the Mothership, includes people like me, Shaw and RN, the charge of treason does not matter unless we are at war.

That's why us lefties have not charged Trump with treason. Because the supposed crimes do not rise to the level of treason just because you can't stand the other guy.

Trump and his actions continue to embarrass the US. I'm sure he can find a lackey to charge Obama, as he did Comey. But I am sure that case will also be, just like the Comey case will soon be, summarily dismissed for lack of standing, lack of evidence, sloppy lawfare and more.

But that's the issue isn't it? The right is not a fan of evidence, as shown over the 2000 elections. They know what they know, regardless. They're still mad none of their more than 60 cases alleging fraud were found to have merit or evidence. Despite Mayor Rudy admitting "We have no evidence".

The current right does not care about law and order, evidence or by extension, the Constitution unless in the moment, it benefits them.

Go ahead Skud, -FJ, Joe et al, in the words of Charlie Kirk... Prove me wrong!

    1. Trump complains that Democrats went after him so that justifies what he’s doing to Comey. The difference here is that Trump actually broke the law.

  3. The case against Comey is totally fake (more lies from the liar in chief)
But bent on revenge, he will send him a case of Tylenol.

  4. I was absolutly WRONG. I now feel I must absolutely apologize. Trump is most certainly far from usless.

He knew well how to be used as the usefull idiot by rightwing think tanks (Birchers, Heritage Foundation etc ) that have wanted to destroy democracy and turn the USA government into a fascist authoritarian one for years>/b>.

When the idiot FOTUS is gone the stench of Project 2025 and fascist authoritarianism, as well as the damage down, will remain for years if not decades.

  5. And nothing will happen with any of these allegations. This is all about trump seeking retaliation against the people who indicted him then looked for a reason so they got him for his accountants cheating on his taxes, guess he shouldn't have signed them.

    1. Apparently Skud, you don’t know how one gets indicted, otherwise you wouldn’t have posted what you did.

A person is indicted after a grand jury decides there is probable cause to believe they committed a crime, based on evidence presented by the prosecutor.

When Trump was indicted for his crimes, prosecutors didn’t “ go looking for a reason” and then just made one up. The reason for the indictment was presented to the grand jury, and then the grand jury found that there was probable cause to believe Trump committed a crime, and the jury found that he did, after reviewing the evidence.

You’ve commented several times that “everyone in business cheats like Trump did, so he shouldn’t have been found guilty for the fraud he committed.”

One has to wonder if you would have been so eager to overlook the crime of fraud that Trump was found guilty of had it been, say, Kamala Harris, and not Trump.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you would’ve wanted her to be punished to the full extent of the law if she had done what Trump did.

  6. You are correct Skud... these allegations will go nowhere in a court of law, and Trump probably knows that. So what's their purpose?

To gin up the anger of the American people towards others and make his supporters believe, or feel, like government does not and cannot work.

And what's that purpose? Best case? Assuage trump's fragile ego. Worst case? What do you think?

You see, as bad in your eyes as Obama and Biden were, at least they were trying to work within our system and made sure at many levels, whether you lived in a blue or red state, you received the services and support of the federal government.

Can you honestly say that about Trump.

  7. Now I wonder why I spent all that time in law school because you just explained everything. Most grand juries will indite a mosquito if told to. Indicting trump in NYC is like indicting biden in Alabama. Not difficult but what is going for biden is the report that he is to senile to understand.
I never said he shouldn't be found guilty of his accountants mistakes. When you are an owner or a CEO you are responsible for filing statements so he is guilty and if that was the verdict by a juries of his peers so be it. I'll let you know about kamala after they indict her.
Like I said, nothing will happen but we will spend a million or so to go no where. Not near what shfity spent on the russian collusion but still money that doesn't need to be spend for a feud.

  8. Revenge - pure and simple -
    And there is a lot:
    1. Stormy Daniels hush money (34 counts, guilty on all) NY M. Cohan
2.Classified Documents case (40 counts) SCOTUS Immunity) FL
3.Election interference in FL vote count. (4 counts)
    4. Jan 6 Riots (4 counts) several guilty
James Comey was not part of those (but Jack Smith sure was) Trump fired Comey over the Russian election interference operation, claiming that he
also illegally went after Hillary Clinton of email charges, which probably cost her the election, although the child sex ring in the basement of a pizza store
turned many towards the shining light that is Trump. skud is right - the Comey case is dead in the water.

  11. The pretense that America has been a democracy post 9/11 and 2008 financial/ mortgage crises melt-down has become unsustainable. Trump has completely and definitively exposed THAT lie. Alternative media now simply reflects the truth that federal power can no longer sustain. It was ALL a lie.

The Democrats are NAKED. Democracy is NOT "continuity of Government". Democracy is NOT "Lawfare". Only democracy is democracy. Moldova, now following Ukraine, Georgia, France, and Germany in Proving the rule....

  12. Trump is absolutely losing what remains of his brain cells. Per social media posts, Trump told Hegseth to invade Portland to defend???? Yeah, the details are sketchy as all get out but what was crystal clear was Trumps permission/approval for the US Military to use force against US citizens in the name of fighting Antifa (which is an ideology not an organization).

In the name of all these distractions I say: Release the unredacted Epstein Files. All of them, every note, every piece of evidence gathered. Release it all. Now.

  15. Good morning my fellow humans. I know, almost a pejorative coming from me, knowing as you do my opinion on most humans. But if you didn't know me you'd just think I was being polite. And in the public square being polite is the name of the game.

For the skuds of the interwebz, and yep, there are thousands upon thousands of humans who sound exactly like each of our local trolls, the painting of themselves as victim continues. Apparently getting everything they wanted wasn't enough. The hatred must be fed every day with fresh meat and achieving of goals just isn't the high they expected.

However with Trump's NSPM-7 (National Presidential Memorandum 7) targeting "anti-Christian", "anti-American", and "anti-capitalism" opinions as indicators of radical left violence might just put a sparkle in their eyes as ordinary citizens are demonized for the crime of exercising their First Amendment Rights. Stephen Miller, Trump's homeland security advisor said "This is the first time in American history that there is an all-of-government effort to dismantle left wing terrorism."

Apparently wanting health care for all, affordable housing and food, and a living wage is considered radical. Well, there was that man from Galilee with his own commands to his followers who was also considered radical in his day so there is that.

No one is safe. Even if you think you are protected all it will take is someone higher up on the food chain who want's your stuff and suddenly you become dissident #1. How do I know? Oh, history mostly. Fascists aren't exactly imaginative.

There is no "crisis is coming". The crisis is here.

So, what can we do to help fight back? Resist as you are able, join communities depending on your tolerance for social gatherings, comment where you can to ensure the crap spewed by the troll clones is not left just standing unchallenged. It might not appear to do much but if your actions or words touch one person and inspire them to do more then that, in my opinion, is a rousing success.

The time to choose sides is over. Our crisis is upon us may the deity of your choice (or you know, logic and science) be with you as we move forward into uncharted territory, at least for the USA. WeThePeople have a lot of power. Trumps team cancelled Kimmel, Trump himself is on air talking about how he got 16 million from Kimmel's parent companies last time and this case appears to be more lucrative. For Trump it's about the money, for those supporting him it's all about the power. Who has the power? We have the power. ABC caved and Kimmel is back on the air. Nexstar and Sinclair also caved and allowed the stations in their collective to air the show, something they said they would not do. What changed? WeThePeople showed the error of their thinking and while they wanted the power they really wanted the money more than anything. I guess to them money is power but nope. WeThePeople are the power, always.

    1. Thank you for this comment. I’m in full agreement. I also do not recognize America anymore. The only comfort I take is knowing that a majority of Americans disagree with what Trump is doing to this country. What can we do as citizens? I have no answer for that. You have an entire administration against the rule of law and the constitution. I don’t know what can be done at this point. Except resist and oppose the fascists.

  16. We now have an authoritarian fascist regime in DC, supported by the agenda of fascist Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation, Christian Nationalists, and a multitude of fascist con think tanks working overtime to destroy democracy and replace it with a fascist Evangelical Chriatian Nationalist Theocracy. Trump is but the useful idiot they have been abd continue to use to accomplish their nefarious often unconstitutional goals.

What the Christian right wants in Amerika will be no better than the Islamic Sharia Law they claim to destest.

    2. No argument from this corner of the whorld. I've been looking at the four major wotld spiritual traditions for some time now. Over the past few years I've come to the realization that. Christianity has been responsible for more suffering the wotld over than any other single religion. Looking at death and destruction, often in the name of empire, the "Christian" religion takes the title.

When I am interested in contemplating what Jesus really and truly taught I turn to the Gnostic Gospels. They are the unedited truth of Jesus wisdom and compassion. The holy bible is a dusty old book of mythology that was edited by Roman Emperor Constatine and the RCC to solidify power in not only the Empire but the Church as well. And world is still suffering the consequences of that power grab by church and state. A marriage strengthening both state and church.

Today, in Evangelical America, christianity looks nothing like its early beginnings. It is now all about amassing money and power over people's minds and hearts.

      In a word: Evil.

  17. Want further evidence of the corruption of the Trump DOJ?

Last week the idiots of MAGAlandia claimed a recent FBI info release proved their point that JAN 6 was a "fedsurrection" to use President's Trumps term. They claim the 274 FBI agents there were part of a "false flag" operation to entrap innocent people just there to peacefully protest.

Except when FBI Director Kash Patel, who knows this to be false because he has access to FBI agent GEO mapping, said Sunday on FOX News this view was wrong.

Kash Patel folks. Not some RINO squish. Kash Patel stepped up and contradicted not just the MAGA crazies, but the president himself on this.
