In a jaw-dropping interview that sounded less like a democratic leader and more like a comic-book supervillain monologue, Donald Trump declared that the only thing restraining his power is “my own morality.”
Not the Constitution. Not Congress. Not international law.
Just Donald Trump.
Asked by The New York Times whether there were limits on his authority to strike, invade, or coerce other nations, Trump didn’t hesitate: “Yeah, there is one thing. My own morality. My own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me.” --Occupy Democrats
*******************
This "morality" Trump claims to live by is what he has lived his entire life by: The morality of a man who is a liar, cheat, fraudster, convicted felon, adjudicated sexual assaulter/rapist, a man known for cheating people who've worked for him out of money he's owed them; a man who scammed people who signed up for his Trump University; a serial adulterer who cheated on all his wives, who even cheated on his mistresses, and a man who talked about his own daughter's voluptuous figure and said if she wasn't his daughter, he'd be dating her!
A man who for decades partied and was close friends with Epstein and Maxwell who trafficked young girls to rich and powerful men for sex and who raped those children themselves. Trump knew what Epstein and Maxwell were up to, and did nothing. Trump even mitigated Maxwell's 20-year prison sentence by transferring her to a "club fed," where she gets massages and special meals. No pedophile in America was ever treated this way. Ever.
That's the Trump "morality" we now live under; That's what Trump wants us to trust.
Trump: Dualism on steriods.
ReplyDeleteOnly in Trump's dualism he sees himself as the perfect one, has severed his relationship with divine wisdom, and appointed himself God. As God he sees himself as seperate, superior, and infallible.
America is now ruled by a dangerously deranged and ignorant fool. America will suffer greatly. Unless he is removed from office and imprisoned,
What could go wrong? Isn't our president well informed of and a practitioner of good morals?
ReplyDeleteYes, Trump has the "morality" of a criminal insurrectionist and sociopath.
ReplyDeleteIf María Corina Machado gives him her Nobel Prize, then she doesn't deserve it either, and should never be given power in Venezuela. Appeasing a tyrant is where corruption and disaster begin.
If Machado gives Trump her Nobel Peace Prize, she disgraces herself, not the prize. And if Trump accepts it, it will be as laughable, pathetic, and absurd as the FIFA "peace" prize he was awarded, and Trump will once again be seen all over the world as an overblown orange clown.
DeleteFrom Thomas Paine in "Common Sense" written as a precursor to the Declaration of Independence...
ReplyDelete"But where, say some, is the King of America? I’ll tell you, friend, he reigns above, and doth not make havoc of mankind like the Royal Brute of Great Britain. . . . [T]he world may know, that so far as we approve of monarchy, that in America the law is king. For as in absolute governments the King is law, so in free countries the law ought to be king; and there ought to be no other."
Thoughts? Any current day applications?
On the law...
ReplyDeleteIn 2020, then President Trump advocated for a nation wide ban on Tik Tok. Congress agreed and passed a law demanding the sale or closure of access to Tik Tok within the USA, effective Jan 19, 2025.
The Trump Admin ignored that law and granted several extra judicial, or illegal, extensions.
Congress legislated and President Trump signed a law requiring the Trump Admin to release all documents commonly known as the "Epstein Files" US AG Bondi bragged about having on her desk.
To date, the Trump Admin has ignored that law, still maintaining over 2 million related documents.
Is the, you know, actual law, subject to presidential morality?
Trump morality - wowzers, what an oxymoron!
ReplyDeleteThe post-WWII International Rules-based order has always been a fairy tale that sheeple needed to believe in. Trump has moved us all back into recognizing that in reality we're all on the honour system.... and always have been.
ReplyDeleteYou give Trump, who’s a functioning, illiterate, too much credit for anything that comes out of his mouth. It appears that somebody whispers something in his ear about international politics or laws or treaties, it gets mangled in his brain, and then he spits it out in an unrecognizable word salad. This is what he said today, speaking about taking Greenland: “If we don't do it, Russia or China will take over Greenland, and we're not going to have Russia or China as a neighbor. Okay?"
ReplyDelete"I would like to make a deal the easy way. But if we don't do it the easy way, we're going to do it the hard way."
"I'm a fan of Denmark...but, you know, the fact that they had a boat land there 500 years ago doesn't mean that they own the land."
Apparently, the stable genius is unaware that the the United States and Russia ATE already neighbors! Apparently he’s never looked at a map! And also his idiotic statement about Denmark not entitled to Greenland just because somebody landed a boat there 500 years ago is insane. Apparently he doesn’t know history and what happened on our piece of land when English people landed by boat in Plymouth in 1620.
As I said, Trump is a functioning illiterate.
ARE already neighbors.
