He did what?

President Trump has asked Xi Jinping, the leader of China, whether he would like to buy American weapons, David Perdue, the American ambassador to China, said in a television interview on Sunday.

“President Trump continues to say, ‘Hey, we sell arms to other people around the world,’” Mr. Perdue said on “Fox News Sunday” while discussing the state visit by Mr. Xi to Washington last week. “He actually asked President Xi would he like to buy some at one point.”

Mr. Perdue did not give further details and did not reveal Mr. Xi’s reply.

China’s support for Russia and Iran in their respective wars relies on a delicate balance of "pro-neutrality" diplomacy masking deep covert economic and material assistance. Officially, Beijing presents itself as a neutral mediator calling for peace and ceasefires, but Western intelligence and trade data show that China acts as a primary lifeline enabling both nations to continue fighting. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

China benefits from these drawn-out conflicts because they successfully divert U.S. and Western military assets, attention, and financial resources away from East Asia and the Indo-Pacific. By providing just enough covert assistance to prevent Russia and Iran from losing, Beijing keeps the conflicts bubbling along while positioning itself to look like the responsible, rule-abiding superpower advocating for global peace on the world stage

  1. Why would he think selling weapons to china is a good idea. They can almost duplicate everything we have so selling them is absurd. He needs to show good faith and follow his predecessors and give them the weapons and throw in a few billion to sweeten the pot if they promise not to use them.

    1. He's not smart. He's actually an idiot. And America elected the dangerous malignant narcissist idiot twice.

What does that say about America?

    3. I'm always amused with the fact that you actually believe Trump is a "genius," when all evidence points to the unavoidable truth that he's an idiot, bumbling his way through his 2nd term (see, War, Iran) and that his public berating of traditional allies and skepticism toward multinational institutions like NATO and the UN have fractured critical Western coalitions and benefited adversaries like Russia and China.

Your "genius" Trump lacks a coherent, consistent worldview because he favors theatrical, short-term spectacles over substantive, enduring diplomacy, leaving the U.S. structurally weakened.

      A stable genius.

    5. You've got that backwards. Madness appears as genius to idiots. The slobbering worship of DJT by MAGA is living proof of that.

    7. Yeah, Victor Davis Hansen says we’re not nation builders while Trump went into Venezuela and decided he owns their oil! Why listen to that old man! We can see with our own eyes what’s actually happening, not his fever dreams.

    8. We're nation building in Venezuela? I thought we were just pumping oil.

Sounds like VDH is spot on. As he is with most things.

    9. “The Trump Administration is deeply involved in Venezuelan politics following the U.S. military operation in January 2026 that captured former leader Nicolás Maduro and installed Delcy Rodríguez as interim president.

According to administration statements and reports from CSIS, President Trump and his officials are utilizing a "regime management" strategy rather than immediate full regime change.”

That’s almost the definition of nation building. The Trump administration is deeply involved with how that country is now being run by a Maduro-friendly regime.

    10. Again. Building and managing are two entirely different things. The Founders "built" America. Today's Managers simply forestall the decline of what was originally built. And in American government today, that is the decline of "late capitalism". It's building nothing. It's patching holes in that which was once intact.

  2. Since this nation's bumbling idiot president started the very unnecessary illegal war of choice with Iran I view China's help as helping Iran in self defense against the aggressor nation USA.

  3. After Trump's statement, the White House and State Department immediately went into damage control, emphasizing that the U.S. has no plans to sell weapons to China and that doing so remains illegal.

Now, to Skud... perhaps he was using satire, sarcasm or just plain snark. Because his comment is too over the top to be serious.

If it is serious Skud, you need to provide the links and evidence of any free weapons to China post WWII.

And if it is a stab of yours at satire, say so.

  4. Dave, I know you are aware that the past president gave millions of weapons to the teliban to use against us and his mentor released billions to iran so they could build a nuclear weapon. Of course iran is honest and they promised to not build one so I guess we should take them at their word.
I do not support the action against iran because, like Afghanistan and Vietnam there is no plan, no objective and no end game. Either go in to win or don't go in. We went into Venezuela, did what we needed to do and changed a country.

  5. Skud... I know you are aware we were talking about China. But... in response, I did some digging for, you know, actual facts.

    On the Taliban...

The Reality... from the BBC: The U.S. did not "give" weapons to the Taliban. Over 20 years, the U.S. supplied and equipped the Afghan National Army (the internationally recognized government fighting the Taliban). When U.S. troops pulled out under the agreement Trump negotiated, the Afghan military unexpectedly collapsed in days, abandoning their posts and leaving their American-provided gear behind.

The Status... from Pre Trump CBS News: While the Taliban seized these stockpiles (including Humvees, rifles, and some aircraft), the U.S. military heavily sabotaged, disabled, or "demilitarized" its own tactical equipment and advanced systems at the Kabul airport before leaving so they could never be used again.

    On the Iranian Deal

The Reality... from ABC news and the National Archives: The deal did the exact opposite of what you stated... it was specifically designed to stop Iran from building a nuclear weapon. Under the agreement, Iran had to destroy 98% of its enriched uranium stockpile, dismantle its plutonium reactors, and submit to continuous, intrusive international inspections. Experts and monitors confirmed the deal successfully blocked Iran's pathway to a bomb while it was active.

The "Billions"... from the Center for non Nuclear Proliferation: The U.S. did not hand over American taxpayer cash to Iran. Instead, the deal unfroze Iran's own money... roughly $50 billion to $100 billion in overseas oil revenues that had been blocked in international banks by sanctions. Additionally, a highly publicized $1.7 billion cash delivery was actually the settlement of a 40-year-old legal dispute over military equipment Iran paid the U.S. for in the 1970s but never received because the Iranian Revolution took place.

I hope this helps. Everything a Dem does is not as hyper partisan as you make it out to be. Or as nefarious.

Next time, post the links or sources when you insist on passing uninformed opinion off as fact. It's a better look.

    1. Dave M, this is the fifth or sixth (or twentieth) time these facts have been presented to skud. That they ignore them to focus on their own opinions of events tells me they either won't or can't understand what you wrote.

  6. Dave, The discussion was about the hated ones decision to sell weapons to an enemy. If you believe the terrorist country of iran, who has quoted we will bury you, can be trusted then I don't know how to respond.

"However, Iran's history with inspections has also involved major friction. Tehran has repeatedly restricted access, removed monitoring equipment, or suspended cooperation following political breakdowns, disagreements over undeclared nuclear traces, or military escalations.(bbc)"

The Taliban did not have to seize the weapons, they were left behind after the rapid retreat. Blame the hated one for planning a managed pullout but president biden pulled the trigger without a plan. The amount of equipment and weapons left at the Kabul airport was a small fraction of what was left.

  7. Skud wins the Bibi/Trump Gullibility and Paranoia Prize by regurgitating, "their pursuit to destroy Israel and then move on to the US."

The Butcher of Gaza declared, "We'd all be dead by now" if Trump didn't join in his war. Oh, really? As in for the past twenty years he harped on that, "Iran is two weeks from a nuclear bomb"?

Trump is the only person with the actual means who is threatening to annihilate a country and civilization. But's it's only evil when Iranians say, "Death to America". Sounds more like self-defense against a hostile regime to me.

Skud, how about you provide us with a body count of Americans killed by Iran? Will it come close the number of Iranians we bombed or helped Saddam wipe out?

    1. In fairness Dave, we can't get the body count of Americans KIA and injured during the Iran War because the Trump Admin, seeing how America turned against the Vietnam War when faced with deadly reality, has never offered up a true accounting.

Just the other day more Marines were killed in the war we've already won multiple times.

  8. Perhaps you can answer this question, skud, why would anyone, anywhere, trust anything the ignorant president of the USA says? Or the lying Zionist genocidal butcher netanyahu.

Frankly skud, given the thousands of lies we know trump has uttered, I would trust Iran over trump any day. Ditto for the genocidal butcher.

  9. Where to start Skud... can you provide a link where Iran said, since you asserted the quotation. "We will bury you"? I think you mean Nikita Krushchev.

Also, according to verified findings from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and confirmations from the U.S. intelligence community and State Department, prior to 2018 when the Trump Admin abrogated the JCPOA, Iran was in verified, strict compliance as it regards inspections and their nuclear program.

Also, we should note, the Trump never alleged Iran was out of compliance regarding nukes. Trump argued the deal was bad because it did not address Iran's ballistic missiles.

As for Iranian weapons, many fullt functional weapons did fall into the hands of the Taliban during the US retreat, that was signed into an agreement by Trump, but then botched under Biden's non plan.

I would note, there are those of us here who were critical of Biden at the time, and continue to acknowledge where and when he screwed up, including in real time.

That amigo, has been in short supply from the MAGA bloggers many of us here read.

On the money... it was Iran's money. Period. We can agree to disagree on whether we should have let them have it, but there can be no disagreement on whose money it was.

  10. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated that U.S. leaders would be "buried" during an October 2010 speech, responding to U.S. rhetoric regarding Iran's nuclear program. nbc news 2010.

According to the BBC "Tehran has repeatedly restricted access, removed monitoring equipment"

I have always been critical of trump on a lot of issues one of his actions is the stupid conflict with iran. What is the worst thing that can happen if iran gets a nuclear weapon, erase Israel which would make many happy. One of the problems I have with the democrat potential nominees is they have no ideas on what to do other than say trump is evil. Their plan is to increase government programs, raise taxes, abolish police, ICE, release prison inmates and waste more money than we already waste. Neither party has a plan to cut spending they just want to spend more and increase the deficit.
We can give credit to biden for increasing prices on everything and trump for not doing anything to bring prices down. Once prices rise it is odd they will come down to any degree and the biden administration promoted the price rise, unless you refuse to admit it.

    1. skud: "Their plan is to increase government programs, raise taxes, abolish police, ICE, release prison inmates and waste more money than we already waste."

"Congressional Democrats have outlined a dual-focus tax strategy as part of their campaign platform to regain the House of Representatives. Their stated approach centers on raising taxes exclusively on high earners and corporations to directly fund broad tax relief for low- and middle-income families."

The Democratic Party generally supports maintaining and expanding specific federal social programs, focusing heavily on healthcare, housing, and childcare. However, individual goals within the party vary significantly depending on whether a lawmaker belongs to the progressive, moderate, or centrist factions.

Democratic lawmakers and governors have supported specific policies to reduce prison populations or grant early release under limited circumstances, but the party as a whole does not advocate for the unconditional release of all prison inmates.

While individual Democratic candidates and officials frequently advocate for sentencing reform and the reduction of mass incarceration, broad claims that the party wants to universally release inmates are often political interpretations or campaign attack ads that strip nuanced legislative actions of their context."

Your generalizations are silly. Some far left radicals may have suggested closing down the police, but they are NOT mainstream Democrats. And neither are the Republicans who want to execute girls and women for having abortion.. Those are the Republicans' extremists. Texas, So. Carolina, and Tennessee Republican lawmakers have proposed the death penalty for girls and women who get abortions -- no matter the reasons.

Meanwhile, Trump has commuted or pardoned over 1700 people who were in prison so far in his second term. That's an actual releasing of prison inmates.

    2. Understand this skud, The Islamic Republic of Iran has never wanted a nuclear warheads(s). The religion they follow is actually against nuclear warheads (nuclear war). Persians are smart people and do not wish to annihilate civilization.

It is Zionist Israel and their genocidal butcher and war criminal netanyahu that is guilty of ethnic cleansing/genocide of Arab Palestinians (73,000+ innocent civilians targeted and killed).

Iran has never been guilty of such immoral atrocities against any people or country. It is the west, the USA CIA that toppled their democratic government in 1954. All so the west (the USA) could exert influence and control by putting in place a puppet government, the Shah of Iran.

BTW skud, why are you doing your usual and deflecting to democrats and President Biden? Never mind, I already know why.

  11. My mother is in my head today and she advises that if I have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all.

OK then - I'm left with this - it doesn't matter how many times one presents evidence, facts, and context to a person if they just don't like the cut of your jib and prefer to live in their delusions.

As noted already Biden messed up the retreat from Afghanistan by not listening to his military advisors. That said it was Trump who planned on bringing the Taliban to Camp David before justified outrage ended that little potential for disaster. Trump, Mr. Art of the Deal himself is totally to blame for designing the disastrous plan in the first place although as someone not known for being held accountable for anything he continues to blame Biden. Knowing Trump's habit of pettiness it's not that big of a reach to believe he intended Biden to fall on his face. Or worse, believed he could renegotiate the terms of leaving when he retained the presidency. Either way, the man has never met a treaty or negotiation that he didn't believe he could twist towards his own personal favor.

As I said, I've got nothing nice to say but at least I'm not being as mean as I totally want to be. Humans refusing to believe facts as presented which are easily verified via independent sources is a sore spot for me; especially knowing the character of those presenting those facts.

OT/ I've been busy watching what Hegseth has been doing to our military. His "Send Me Tour" using the Christian biblical passage from Isaiah 6:8 (Here I am, send me) has me worried for the future of our planet. With Trump's casual threats about eliminating the entire Iranian culture and Hegseth readying the troops for a Holy War, yeah, scary times indeed.

What was it that MAGA said when Trump won the first time? Oh yeah, Facts don't care about your feelings. Talk about a stopped clock!
