BREAKING NEWS!

WASHINGTON — An election-year investigation by Senate Republicans into corruption allegations against Joseph R. Biden Jr., the Democratic presidential nominee, and his son, Hunter, involving Ukraine found no evidence of improper influence or wrongdoing by the former vice president, bringing to a close a highly politicized inquiry its leaders had hoped would tarnish President Trump’s rival.

The report asserted that Hunter Biden traded off his father’s name to close lucrative business deals around the world, and that his work for Burisma Holdings, a corrupt Ukrainian energy company while the former vice president was directing American policy toward Kyiv gave the appearance of a conflict of interest and alarmed some in the State Department. But the 87-page document released on Wednesday by the Senate Homeland Security Committee contained no evidence that the former vice president improperly manipulated American policy toward Ukraine or committed any other misdeed.

The panel’s Republican chairman, Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, had made little secret of his political ambitions for his report, boasting for weeks that his findings would demonstrate Mr. Biden’s “unfitness for office.”

Instead, the result delivered on Wednesday appeared to be little more than a rehashing of unproven allegations against Mr. Biden six weeks before Election Day, allegations that echo a Russian disinformation campaign and have been pushed by Mr. Trump and his allies. In the days before its release, Mr. Johnson conceded in an interview that there would be no “massive smoking guns,” saying that there was “a misconception on the part of the public that there would be.”

"Republican investigators found no evidence that Mr. Biden acted inappropriately, including when he joined other nations in pushing for the ouster of Ukraine’s top prosecutor who was investigating Burisma. Mr. Trump’s pursuit of that debunked charge is what prompted his impeachment last year, after he pressured Ukraine’s leader to look into it himself."

Queue the gnashing and gnawing of teeth by the Trumpers who were counting on this report to ruin and discredit Joe Biden and his son, Hunter. They'll whine about the Dems getting away with everything without acknowledging that it is a REPUBLICAN committee that found NO EVIDENCE OF IMPROPER INFLUENCE OR WRONGDOING BY THE VICE PRESIDENT AND HIS SON.

That should shut the whiners up for a day or so. But don't count on it. There will be more conspiracy theories out there, and the Trumpers will spread them around like so much manure.

But at least we can ignore their rantings over this one.

It must be awful for them to have to continue to support a corrupt liar like Trump and then learn, through the results of their own investigating committees, that Joe Biden is a better, more honest and genuine human being than Trump is or will ever be.

  1. Here's a key quote from the investigation, from the GOP side, not the Democrats...

"The extent to which Hunter Biden’s role on Burisma’s board affected U.S. policy toward Ukraine is not clear."

For those of you who struggle with English comprehension and probably flunked those SRA reading tests in elementary school, here's what that means...

Hunter Biden’s role didn’t affect U.S. policy toward Ukraine.

And once again, you have the GOP spending millions of taxpayer dollars to uncover... Nothing!

The report said what Hunter Biden did looked bad, but was not illegal, criminal or anything close.

So, anything you hear to the contrary, is a lie. A fabrication. An untruth.

Our apologies to the HMS Mothership who tomorrow will be crying that Democrats never get caught. It is just a bridge too far for them to even consider that perhaps, there is no there there when it comes to Hunterghazi...

  2. Dave,

Has the Mother Ship been put on suicide watch since they learned that the Republican Committee to investigate Joe and Hunter Biden found no evidence of wrongdoing?

In fact, I just read this on Talking Points Memo:

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) accidentally revealed more evidence of corruption in the Trump administration’s dealings with Ukraine in the course of his investigation into Hunter Biden, according to a letter from Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR).

In an unbelievable twist of irony, the corruption allegation has to do with a cabinet-level Trump official pressuring the Ukrainian government to alter the composition of the board of a Ukrainian energy company.

Lawmakers came across the evidence last week during the testimony of Amos Hochstein, who serves on the supervisory board of state-owned Ukrainian oil and gas holding Naftogaz.

Hochstein told the investigation that former Energy Secretary Rick Perry “inappropriately pressured the Ukrainian government” to place a Houston-based businessman named Robert Bensch on the board of Naftogaz, while other DOE officials pressed Kyiv to sign an agreement with a “private business entity connected to Mr. Bensh,” the letter reads.

Wyden addressed the letter to the Department of Energy Inspector General. He noted that the Senate Homeland Security and Finance Committees “are concluding an investigation into potential conflicts of interest related to executive branch officials who are responsible for carrying out the United States Government’s foreign policy in Ukraine.”

“Witness testimony in this investigation has directly implicated former Secretary Rick Perry in alleged wrongdoing and the Department more broadly in a scheme to undermine anti-corruption efforts that were implemented by Ukraine in partnership with the international community,” Wyden added."

  3. The report offered no support for President Donald Trump’s claim that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden had improperly pressed for the firing of the country’s top prosecutor to protect his son.

The report did not implicate Biden in wrongdoing, focusing instead on his son Hunter, who it said “cashed in” on his father’s position by joining the board of a Ukrainian gas company. The document says that work created conflict-of-interest concerns, including among two Obama administration officials, but acknowledged that it was ultimately “not clear” what impact Hunter Biden’s paid board position had on policy with Ukraine.

  4. Unclear does not mean innocent even for those who didn’t pass the SRA reading test. Hunter does have a impeccable record. Doesn’t pay alimony because his girlfriend was pregnant and now he is accused of being associated with a sex trafficking ring and prostitution.
It will not be proven that joe was involved so all is good.

  5. Suicide watch? No. Congressional republicans still have to investigate Joe Biden (and clear him) 2 dozen or so more times. Like HRC and Benghazi. Although trudmpers are still convinced HRC gave a stand down order, then she and Obama watched what was going on in real time -- laughing as our people were murdered. Because they're both in the Muslim Brotherhood. In any case, the Durham report is still coming. So Biden (and Obama and Hillary) are all going to be indicted, convicted and sent to prison.

  6. Anonymous, do you remember this statement by Robert Mueller from his report?

“If we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the President clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state.”

Yet Trumpers, Trump, and Barr have repeatedly claimed the Mueller Report exonerated Trump.

That would suggest that every Trump supporter, Trump, and his personal AG, Barr, all failed the SRA reading test.

And there's this: Eric Trump ordered to testify before election day in fraud inquiry.

Also, your president has been ACCUSED by 20+ women of sexual harassment and assault, and that includes a then-13-year old girl who's accused Donald J. Trump of rape when she was a child.

I think Trumpers need to look at the logs in their eyes before they become giddy over Hunter Biden accusations, hoping they will tarnish Joe Biden.

It makes Trumpers look like towering hypocrites, and we wouldn't want that, would we.

  7. Derv, most Americans understand that Trump and Barr are dishonest and underhanded. They may very well be waiting to make the findings an "October Surprise." We'll have to wait to see what lies they'll try to sell the American voting public.

Meanwhile, Trump stated yesterday that he's not comitted to a "peaceful transition of power" should he lose the election.

No POTUS in American history has ever uttered those words, and those words should send shivers down the spines of every American. Those are the words of a tyrant and a profoundly unAmerican ignoramus.

  9. Ducky... he might be... How Eric explains whether or not the Donald paid taxes on 100 million of unforgiven debt will be interesting. no wonder he wanted to wait until after the election.

    I don't think it's a done deal yet.

I hope you're well... as can be.
