HEATHER COX RICHARDSON:

"Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden began in the early afternoon. The hateful performances of the early participants set the tone for the rally. Early on, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who goes by Kill Tony, delivered a steamingly racist set. He said, for example: “There’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.

He went on: “And these Latinos, they love making babies too. Just know that. They do. They do. There’s no pulling out. They don’t do that. They come inside. Just like they did to our country.” Hinchcliffe also talked about Black people carving watermelons instead of pumpkins. The speakers who followed Hinchcliffe called Vice President Kamala Harris “the Antichrist” and “the devil.” They called former secretary of state Hillary Clinton “a sick son of a b*tch,” and they railed against “f*cking illegals.” They insulted Latinos generally, Black Americans, Palestinians and Jews. Trump advisor Stephen Miller’s claim that “America is for Americans and Americans only” directly echoed the statement of Adolf Hitler that "Germany is for Germans and Germans only.”

  1. We're bringing back racist jokes. You have to be able to call people of other races obscenities to their faces and be able to laugh together if you ever want to transcend race and achieve familiarity and friendship. We're not patronizing Leftists who have unwritten rules about no criticizing ethnic minorities.

    1. Sorry, no! There is always an underlying racism, power-play, and a dollop of hatred in "jokes" about cultures and races when the joker is not part of that culture or race. That's why, for example, hearing a non-Black person tell jokes about Black people, or non-Jewish person ridiculing Jews (or any ethnic group) as a joke, is not funny.

That kind of joke is based in disparagement humor and is an attempt to amuse through the denigration of a social group or its representatives. You know it as sexist or racist jokes – basically anything that makes a punchline out of a marginalized group.

"Disparagement humor is paradoxical: It simultaneously communicates two conflicting messages. One is an explicit hostile or prejudiced message. But delivered alongside is a second implicit message that 'it doesn’t count as hostility or prejudice because I didn’t mean it — it’s just a joke.'

By disguising expressions of prejudice in a cloak of fun and frivolity, disparagement humor appears harmless and trivial. However, a large and growing body of psychology research suggests just the opposite – that disparagement humor can foster discrimination against targeted groups."

    2. As a young girl in an town where Italian-Americans were a minority, I endured "jokes" about being "greasy," "Mafiosi," and "cowardly," by people who were not part of my Italian heritage. I laughed to go along with their "jokes," but felt hurt, confused, and alienated by their perception of my being the "other."

    3. ...and as a former WASP (now just a WAS) I'm constantly being told how racist and bigoted I am, bladdy-blah-blah-blah. In other words, alienated by the perception of my being 'other'. Calling me names to try and prevent me from calling other people names doesn't help anyone or anything either. It just makes you the alienator who takes pride in alienating me. And I no longer call whether you call me names or not. It reflects on your ignorance, not mine.

    4. It’s time for -FJ/Joe Con to play his the patented, good for all occasions, radical right “victim card”.

“I'm constantly being told how racist and bigoted.”

NOT FAIR! Just because he says, "You have to be able to call people of other races obscenities to their faces”.

So, who’s the REAL victim here? -FJ/Joe Con again.

”Calling me names to try and prevent me from calling other people names doesn't help anyone or anything either. It just makes you the alienator who takes pride in alienating me.”

Yes, but let white fascists and racists alienate all the minorities and women they want. It’s called white privilege.

“We're not patronizing Leftists who have unwritten rules about no criticizing ethnic minorities.”

This is true. Fascists are entitled to criticize minorities. Duty bound, in fact. It’s the white thing to do.

So naturally it reflects our "ignorance" to note their fascistic and sociopathic tendencies.

  2. I, on principal, now refuse to watch any effing broadcast with the huge Orange Turd on it. I did however catch the View today. After all that has been said and done by him and his campaigns since 2015 anybody other than racist white men voting for Trump are, IMNHO, either completely unaware or simply are racist fascists themselves.

  4. Perhaps when and IF the Orange Fascist Fuhrer Wannabe stops othering EVERYONE that doesn't think like, agree with, and kiss his ass maybe what jc says might be responded to differently. But, that ain't ever going to happen because tRump is the narcissistic fascist that smart people like General Kelly and others who worked with, and know him very well, know him to be. Through actual one on one as well group experience w/him.

As an aside. The media is as responsible for Trump's rise as anything else. Rather than accurately, honestly and openly reporting daily every last one of his abnormal and dangerous rants and behavoirs they have actually worked overtime trying to normalize his abhorrent rhetoric and behaviors. Is it out ot fear? Ignorance? Stupidity? Conditioning? What?

The media has done a GREAT disservice to the people of the nation for their tepid softball coddling of a very unhinged and unbalanced narcissitic fascist.

    1. Yes, Les. The media are responsible for Trump's rise in American politics. Mostly because he made them lots of money. The business of America is business.

    I see.
So like a typical American neo-Nazi racist, Joe Con wants to rationalize calling African Americans n-%%ers.
