Trump and his cultist supporters own all of this.
Let's hope that decent Americans reject this cesspool of hate, racism, misogyny and vulgarity on November 5.

Tonight, Trump:
— Kamala HQ (@KamalaHQ) October 28, 2024
—Once again said Americans who don’t support him are “the enemy within”
—Announced that Americans should “get ready” for him to bring back laws from the 1700s
—Attacked journalists as “enemies” and fantasized about “decapitating” a reporter
—Denigrated America… pic.twitter.com/mBFI9ScwmY

Aaaannnd... there it is. Just got to the part of the MSG neo-Nazi rally where they compare the Vice President of the United States to a hooker.

This rally is likely the ugliest political event held in America this century.

Remembering William Butler Yeats and "The Second Coming", I offer this update:
ReplyDeleteSlouching Towards Bethlehem
Dulled and lulled by lying leaders and platitudes
Numbing us all and clouding our thoughts with
Monotonous tired clichés and trivial drivel
When mendacity ascends, something worse is sure to follow
Decency and reason are soon cast aside
Deceit, blame, anger and hate are unleashed
And together they rage across the land
Distorted vision darkens souls with bitter resentment
And a stand for truth draws wrath from the believers of lies
Excellent, Dave!
DeleteHere are verses from that poem that resonate today:
"Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity."
[skip]
"The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?"

Pro-Trump talkers express concern that the Madison Square rally's rage, disdain, and thuggery is distracting from the Trump campaign's core message of rage, disdain, and thuggery.
ReplyDeleteLaurence Tribe
@tribelaw
Stephen Miller’s chant at Sunday’s MSG 1939-like rally that “America is for Americans and Americans only” deliberately echoed Adolf Hitler’s boast that "Germany is for Germans and Germans only.”
The Puerto Rico garbage joke wouldn't have been funny if it hadn't contained a kernel of truth! Jes sayin'!
ReplyDeleteThat awful "comedian" didn't learn that a joke isn't funny when you punch down and ridicule a minority that's already been mercilessly ridiculed by people in power. You obviously don't understand that. Do you laugh at jokes about physically impaired people? Old widows and widowers? Orphans? Burn victims? You can tell jokes about all of those categories. But decent people don't. Even if there is a kernel of truth in any of the jokes.
DeleteDecent people don't do that.
IMO, MAGA are ghoulish, indecent, deplorable creeps who find joy in ridiculing minorities.
I thought I figured out a lot about you as a human being, but then you come here and defend the indefensible again, and I learn even more disagreeable things about you.
PS. When that comedian called Puerto Rico "garbage," he was calling Americans garbage. Puerto Ricans are Americans.
DeleteThat's how stupid Trump and his people are. They think it's funny to call Americans garbage as a closing argument to get people to vote for them.
The guilt-pride that forms the basis for woke "moral decency" is being abandoned. It's too patronizing. We're going to be treating everyone as equals from now on, not 'victims that must be forever shielded from the harassment of living".
DeleteWe can learn to embrace "moral decency." I don't care if you call that "woke" or not. You're living in a fantasy world if you actually think majorities will be decent to minorities. You forget we're descended from the great apes. I suggest you study our close relatives, chimpanzees, to understand why there will be hierarchical conflicts in human relationships for a long time to come.
ReplyDeleteWill we ever overcome it? I don't know. I do know that the MAGA movement has set us back generations. Just re-watch last night hate-fest and listen to the derogatory remarks aimed at minorities at MSG by the MAGAs!
You're missing the point. Guilt-pride leads to "forever/ eternal" debts. Not forgiven debts. Not reparations that can ever be paid off. Germany is doing backflips to defend israel's latest war because they feel permanetly obligated to defend Israel. Such an obligation is not in Germany's long-term interest. The same holds true for Southern Democrat slave owners.
DeleteIt's time to start treating people as equals, not someone owed a permanent social debt. History isn't keeping score. People are. There is no "Big Other" and "elites" don't deserve moral bonus points for keeping score for history in the vain attempt to win guilt-pride intersectional based totemic social capital points.
Thanks for your lesson in ignorance -fj. There is nothing wrong with wanting compassion and loving kindness as well as Universal acceptance of ALL peoples regardless of their race, nationality, education level, religion, sexual preference, or party affiliation.
DeleteDo do otherwise is to other for the purpose of gaining political, economic, or social superiority over them. Donald Trump knows exactly what he is doing when he vigorously and disgustingly others all those he himself destests.
Sorry -fj, a huge fail on your part. Are YOU fine with othering and demeaning people the way djt does daily? I'll wait your direct 1 sentence response. I sentence is all that is needed. Whatever your response is.
I don't think ridiculing cultures and races with jokes is a way to treat people as equals. As I pointed out, cultural, racial, sexist jokes are based in a bigotry and power over the other. We saw this sickening dynamic in the disgusting "jokes" by the comedian who called Puerto Rico "garbage" and disparaged Latino and Black Americans. Funny. Where were the Polish, Irish, Italian, Australian, Japanese, jokes? Why the jokes about American minorities?
DeleteThis has NOTHING to do with "elites," "Big Other," or "debts," or any other sand you want to throw at this discussion.
The MAGA comedian went after Puerto Ricans, Latinos, and Blacks.
We absolutely understand why.
Real Puerto Ricans laughed at the joke. They're all too aware of their garbage problem. Only the stupid forever-idiot mainlanders out of touch with Puerto Rico's actual situation and problems got offended.
DeleteThe majority of Puerto Ricans found those jokes offensive and racist , not just mainlanders. The archbishop of San Juan demanded that Trump apologize for allowing that racist joke. Your defense of the "joke" is weak. If the Trump campaign wanted to joke about ethnic groups, why did it choose ONLY ethnic groups of people of color? Can you answer that?
DeleteWhere were the funny ethnic Polish jokes? Irish jokes? Italian jokes? Russian jokes?
Hinchcliffe also made derogatory comments about high birth rates among US Latino populations – specifically, he said Latinos “love making babies”.
“There’s no pulling out. They don’t do that. They come inside, just like they did to our country,” Hinchcliffe said on stage.
Why didn't he make jokes about orthodox Catholics and Jews making babies?
The Trump campaign vetted Hinchcliffe's material and loaded it into the teleprompter. They deleted only one joke -- calling VP Harris the "c" word.
IMO, Trump and his campaign are racist, misogynistic swine.
The MSG event was as close to a Nazi rally as they can get without flying the swastika.
ReplyDeleteDon't be taken aback if tRump is flying a Cheeseburger or Big Mac Flag with a Swastika on it over the White House if elected.
ReplyDelete“The Puerto Rico garbage joke wouldn't have been funny if it hadn't contained a kernel of truth! We're going to be treating everyone as equals from now on.”
ReplyDeleteGood idea.
MAGAts like -FJ/Joe Con are pieces of garbage who are the real enemies within.
But there’s far more than a mere kernel of truth to that, isn’t it?
I agree, it's a good idea. Let's start with the Evangelical Christians and the Catholics--talk about making babies! They just LOVE making babies, they just don't ever pull out! How about those living in Appalachia and Western Maryland--they LOVE living in those garbage dumps... yup, kernel of truth...
DeleteSo hey, let's just never talk about Puerto Rico's real problems and pretend that everything's wonderful.
DeleteWe used to fly to Ramey AFB from Caracas in a C-47 and use their PX and Commissaries every month. It's got GREAT ports and airfields for Carribean domination for the American Empire!
Yes, and let's show our praise and support for all the churches that have become sanctuaries for pedophiles.
DeleteAfter all, Jesus loves children, and so do they.
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
See? Jesus wants those preachers to lay their hands on children. They are only following God's wishes.
-FJ: "So hey, let's just never talk about Puerto Rico's real problems and pretend that everything's wonderful."
DeleteSince when do you or any MAGA give a flying donut about PR's refuse problem? Stop making yourself look silly, pretending PR's garbage problem weighs heavily on Donald Trump's demented brain.
The jokes about Puerto Ricans, Latinos, and Blacks were told so that Trump's racist MAGA could get a belly laugh at minorities' expense.
As I've said above, there are plenty of other ethnic groups in our country. Why did the Trump campaign allow ONLY people of color to be the object of ridicule for laughs?
You have not answered that.
Only? He made fun of plenty of whites. The My Pillow guy... San Francisco... Texas... Ohio boomers. His mom eating cats there. Travis Kelcey, Hillary Clinton. Democrats. Republicans. Trump asking for his shoes after being shot. Biden. Musk. Pelosi....
Delete...and because all your side does is call white people Hitler and fascists. White people get plenty of columny. All you have to do to hear it is to turn on every late night talk show every night of the week.
His message was one for FREE SPEECH. it wouldn't have been "on point" if he had simply parroted the Liberal-Left version of anti-white guilt-pride laden and restricted PC speech.
"Only? He made fun of plenty of whites. The My Pillow guy... San Francisco... Texas... Ohio boomers. His mom eating cats there. Travis Kelcey, Hillary Clinton. Democrats. Republicans. Trump asking for his shoes after being shot. Biden. Musk. Pelosi...."
DeleteEvery single entity you name above have privileged access to white power, or exist within privileges of that white power. In this country, as of now, a majority of white people hold positions of power in government, corporations, and religious organizations.
"Racial and ethnic minority groups constitute a growing segment of the U.S. population, although their share of government leadership roles doesn’t always reflect that.
Though people of color are fairly well represented in appointed positions, such as in President Biden’s Cabinet, elected bodies at the federal and state levels have a ways to go before they truly reflect the diversity of the American people."
I don't understand why YOU don't understand that it is always wrong for the powerful to ridicule, even in humor, the powerless and minorities.
I have no problem with using humor to mock people in power. I do not believe mocking AN ENTIRE MINORITY CULTURE, just because some of their members are bad actors. Individual powerful people in a group are fair game. An entire group: Puerto Ricans, Latinos, Blacks, the handicapped, women, etc. are not.
Your ego's been injured because millions of people expressed their disgust at Trump, a powerful white man, and his regime featuring another white man's denigration of minority cultural groups.
IMO, what you seem to be so passionate about is your privilege to mock, ridicule, and demean those with less power than you.
I don't understand why YOU don't understand that it is always wrong for the powerful to ridicule, even in humor, the powerless and minorities.
DeleteHow about poor whites? It's okay to ridicule them and call them racists Hitlers? "Oh, they're privileged", you say. Punch down much?
America doesn't have a white privilege problem. It's got a $green privilege$ problem. And the University edumacated elite are swimming in it with their totemic Social Capital privilege brought about through their sick and distorted sense of guilt-pride (aka SoJus).
DeletePoor whites, blacks, browns, etc., are powerless. I specifically stated that calling out individual bad actors in a group is fair game. It is NOT okay to ridicule, mock, and demean an entire group of poor people in any minority group, or an entire group of any minority culture.
DeleteMAGA are not a minority because they are majority white people with certain privileges, who support Trump. Fair game. That’s not punching .down. It’s not “ punching down” to ridicule Democrats, Republicans, etc., either.
PS. It is a fact that Trump’s VP choice, JD Vance, called Trump, “America’s Hitler.”
Your comment is invalid.
"Real Puerto Ricans laughed at the joke."
ReplyDeleteLeave it to a white nationalist fascist to dictate who the "real Puerto Ricans" are, just like only "real Americans" support Trump.
Not a "real Puerto Rican":
https://thehill.com/latino/4958823-puerto-rico-gop-kill-tony-hinchcliffe-msg-trump-rally/
Puerto Rico GOP Chair Ángel Cintrón says he will not vote for Donald Trump in Puerto Rico’s symbolic presidential poll on Election Day unless the former president personally apologizes for a comedian’s remarks at his Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday.
Real Puerto Ricans remember Trump's reluctance and delay to send hurricane relief, and they damn sure didn't worship him for the paper towels.
Today, Trump had the chance to refute the racist joke told by the comic at Trump’s MSG rally. Instead, he whined about Michelle Obama’s speech at VP Harris’ rally the other day, and utter a veiled threat at the former FLOTUS.
Deletewhat a putz!
"America doesn't have a white privilege problem."
ReplyDeleteClearly white conservatives are the only people qualified and with the real life experiences to come to this conclusion, amirite?
This is up there with their protestations that the only racism in America is anti-white racism.
Let's see of Joe McWhite Conservative has an answer to this question.
When did "driving while black" stop being a factor for black Americans?
Or are they not "real Blacks" anymore?
It didn't. Their culture puts them at risk for criminality and corresponding legal interventions. It's not racism that's keeping blacks down. Its' cracker culture. They are simply, more (as a percentage of their demographic) prone to acting like poor Southern redneck whites.
DeleteBlacks have a culture problem.
Delete...and as a consequence, law enforcement reacts accordingly.
DeleteAs is your usual habit, instead of addressing the shameful display of racism, misogyny, and antisemitism at Trump's MSG rally, you hijacked this thread and decided to make it a discussion about Black men and their "culture" problem?"
DeleteThe subject of this post is Trump's authoritarian, bund-like rally at MSG. It was a disaster for his campaign, and your response is to talk about Black men having a culture problem?
You may have better luck with that subject by posting it over at the Mother Ship where they refer to former President Obama as the "halfrican;" Nikki Haley as "the ni**er in the wood pile;" and VP Harris as "Kamalhoe."
I'm sure they'd be delighted to get in the mud with you and blame Black men and women for the disgusting show Trump produced on Sunday.
Didn't the captain of the Mother Ship say she has Black friends? I believe she has mentioned her Black friends many times, so I'm sure she'd lend her deep understanding of the culture of Black men to your discussion.
Good luck.
It's no surprise that Joe McWhite Conservative can't see white privilege. Black people see it, though. Part of white privilege is not having to recognize it.
ReplyDeleteJoe Con acknowledges "driving while black" is real but turns around and blames the black driver's "culture" for him being pulled over for no reason. Sounds to me more like cop culture than black culture.
"Black culture."
Odd that poverty has nothing to do with it. Poor white people have higher crime rates too, but we never hear it blamed on "white culture". Hmm. Why is that? Sounds like white privilege again.
Asserting, "as a consequence, (of 'blacks' culture problem') law enforcement reacts accordingly" strongly suggests Joe prefers to blame black culture for the knee to the neck until death. He would blame black culture for their extra share of police brutality. He can't admit police brutality is really cop culture.
The Lancet:
https://www.healthdata.org/news-events/newsroom/news-releases/lancet-more-half-police-killings-usa-are-unreported-and-black
"Black Americans experienced fatal police violence at a rate 3.5 times higher than white Americans."
Sounds more like cop culture again, rather than black culture. Excessively violent and aggressive cops are without question authoritarian personalities. (Joe can relate.)
Now that I’ve straightened this out, there's one more thing.
Joe courteously, albeit irrelevantly, informs us, "Did you know that men are twice as likely to be stopped by police than women? Think that's 'sexism'?"
Come on, man. We know it's not sexism. It's “man culture”. That would include me and Joe.
In 2019, 72.5% of arrestees were men, including 78.9% of those arrested for violent crimes and 88% of those arrested for murder.
Well, no wonder Joe McWhite Conservative would rather complain about "black culture". He can't blame a group that includes white men, after all.
I deleted his comment about men being more likely to be stopped for traffic violations than women.
DeleteThat's probably that men are more aggressive drivers than women.
"Data gathered by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety confirms the perception that men tend to speed, tailgate, merge dangerously, and make rude gestures or honk at other drivers more than women."
That's probably because of a "male cultural" problem. ;-)
Or testosterone.
Shaw,
ReplyDeleteI can confirm our diagnosis. Been there, seen that.
Men may tend to be annoyed by "those women drivers", usually for going slower than they want to go.
Women are horrified by too many men driving like maniacs.
I am reminded that correlation is not causation. And reversed as well. I read on the interwebz a clever way to describe the MSG rally - the Trump campaign is busy excusing the bad behavior at their rally which totally is getting in the way of the bad behavior of their campaign. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteAbout "Black Culture" - As Fair Witness it is the height of hubris to claim a population, displaced, deliberately separated, stolen from their homeland have a lack of Culture. The Black community does have Culture but your eyes have to be open to see it, to honor their perseverance, persistence, and prosperity in the face of jealous can't get it done Race Supremacists who consistently destroy that which the Community created. And as Fair Witness I have receipts. This is fact, not opinion.
Back to opinion: Trump thinks We The People can't see his tricks. Not this time. The Trump campaign told and showed us who they are. Defenders of that ideology also revealed much about themselves, more than intended I might add.
I watched pieces of the Ellipse rally. Our fellow citizens are pumped with Civic Duty and a whole lot of "well, this is different, let's see where it takes us". If the Harris/Walz campaign is successful it will be due to the fact that Kamala earned their vote. As American as the Turkey.
