  2. Now is a good time to discuss Rachel Maddow’s new book titled “Prequel: An American Fight Against Fascism”.

Doctor of political science Rachel Maddow has written this important book on the rise of pre-WWII Nazism in the United States.

While it is an excellent study of history, the parallels to our present time are striking and disturbing. Holocaust survivors have noted the similar rhetoric of Trump and his white nationalist movement to the rise of the Nazis in 1930’s Germany. It would be to our greatest peril if we don’t heed their observations.

From "Prequel" we learn the racist ideology of the Nazi “Aryan master race” was influenced by America’s history of slavery, Jim Crow, and the subjugation of Native Americans. With time there has been progress, but American white nationalism has exponentially risen again.

Extreme nationalism craves unity, meaning, and purpose. Preferably under a strongman. Donald Trump is their beloved and revered autocrat, to be served, obeyed, and believed without question. His control over his followers’ thinking and beliefs is no different than that of a cult leader. And like a cult, every far-right nationalist movement fears and loathes outsiders. The leader tells them who are to be blamed, who are to be hated, and worst of all, who are to be punished.

  3. The study of history enabled the recognition of Trump's true proclivities shortly following his entry into politics in 2015.

Almost 10 years later his rhetoric and actions have confirmed beyond a shadow of doubt that he is an authoritarian with a severe case of malignant narcisism that mirrors Adolph's delusions of the 1930's and early "40's".

  4. Why is it that harris declined to be interviewed by CNBC and Bloomberg about her economic policies. Could it be she may be questioned how she is going to turn around policies of the last four years that have been brutal to the middle class. The slogan we won't go back is about her policies and a new way forward is about her policies because president joey said she was in on everything and was all for what he was doing.

    1. Yeah. We get it. You don't like Democrats. So vote for the guy who digitally raped a woman, who put us trillions of $$$ in debt with tax cuts for the billionaires, who called military men and women "losers and suckers," and who says legal immigrants are eating Americans' dogs and cats.

That will make America great again.

  5. Say skud, how about that Trump "Town Hall"? A dazzling 50 plus minute music extravaganza.

No policy discussion, no indication of just how trumpty dumpty the merry music man will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. NOTHING AS USUAL.

He must be spending a lot of time in his basement hunkered down building his delusions and planning his overthrow of our government. Using the military as per his threat to do so.

And you skud are worried about what? Get real buddy. The election is just around the corner. And Trump is without a doubt unfit to be dog catcher let alone president of anything.

  6. Les, I agree they should have ignored the emergencies and kept going. How dare people suffering be attended to. Ffter all it is politics first and to hell with helping people in need.

    1. They passed out because the venue didn't turn on the ac. Probably because Trump wouldn't pay the bill. You think he gives a shit about them? The people he stranded in the desert in California? He has a history of stiffing the venues and cities he holds his rallies in. He owes St. Cloud, MN, my state, $209,000. Think they'll see a penny of that?

No one said the people suffering shouldn't be attended to. All the people Trump has caused to suffer should be helped. Now is the time on Sprockets where we dance. Crank up the Ave Maria.

  7. skud whines about Harris's economic policies ignoring the fact that she's talked about her plans at every rally, at every interview. Maybe she turned down those interviews because she's just too busy. I mean, the lady is going onto Fox. That has to count for something in the skud-verse.

Hey skud, I bet the fact economists (conservative and liberal alike) back Harris and not Trump must really be messing with your head. I mean, they say (continually, ad nauseum) the Biden admin has been disastrous for the middle class but only points to the price of groceries (an issue that Harris has addressed too) as their proof. Your receipts are more "a note from your mom" than factual data proving your point. Try again skud.

Added note - so once the medical emergencies had been dealt with what was Trumps excuse for standing there, playing music his campaign failed to obtain the licenses to play, swaying, saying nothing?

Can anyone imagine skuds vitriol if Biden had done such a thing? But yeah skud, you were 'concerned' about the attendees who had a medical issue. Sure skud, sure. Because you are known on this site for your empathy and compassion. Oh, I'm sure you have some for those in your inner circle. The rest of humanity? Yeah, not so much.

    1. Food, Housing, Energy, Insurance, Automobiles, Healthcare is more than groceries. Her recent interview was all about how the evil one was evil but nothing about her policies. She is going to provide all the money she wants to spend by taxing the rich, original thought. When she was asked about what the new way forward she said turning the page from the last decade blaming the republicans while 6 years of the last decade were represented by a democrat.
You didn't have an issue with -H calling republicans deplorable or biden saying republicans are a threat to our nation and threaten free speech when it was -H and biden who want social media censored and demanded trump not be allowed on twitter.

  8. I really struggle mightily skud to figure out exactly what it is that has MAGA folks believing the democrats have mucked everything up.

With all the parameters of a sound economy spot on and one growing stronger, combined with excellent job numbers its difficult to grasp exactly what the problem is. Guess it's no longer the economy stupid.

That and it is trumpty dumpty who ordered his cult party to not pass the strongest border control bill in a very long time.

I guess music and rhetorical rambling about windmills and Hannibal Lechter, among many other insignificant BS is what MAGA cultist want. Along with imprisonment of his political rivals using the military. And maybe even murdering them like his buddy Putin and his former hero Adolph Hitler.

  9. Les, did you read the border control bill that allows 18. million illegals per year before any action can be taken. That is not border control that is modified open border. Where did any one say they were going to imprison political rivals more less using the military?

    1. In his typical authoritarian MAGA fashion, Skud fails to cite the words of the border bill and pushes a MAGA lie. His idea of a "modified open border" is 1500 new officers, more immigration courts and MORE FENTANYL DETECTORS.

Trump shut all that down, and his supporters like Skud can't blame him, even after he said, "Blame it on me".
And check out his MAGA cred when he denies Trump's own words about sending the military after the "enemy within", citing the "evil" Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi, “because they are — they’re very different. And it is the enemy from within and they’re very dangerous. They are Marxists and communists and fascists.”

Skud WILL vote for Trump. He's shilling for him every day.

  10. Donald Trump.

Did I read the entire bill? No. It's not of the deep interest to me that it is to you. I know enough to realize the bill is far better than the past circumstances and I know it was killed by the influence of te Orange Fascist Menance.

  11. Wow, I was flat for a bit to have missed this conversation. Why is it important you ask? Thank you, I'll tell you.

I've been listening to the facts as presented by the likes of Empty Wheel, Meidas Touch, Bryan Tyler Cohen, Beau of the Fifth Wheel, Pondering Politics, and Politics Girl. Those are my bonafides. What I learned is this:

Was the Border Bill killed by DonOld Trump perfect? Not in the Democratic Parties eyes. Per many sources it did nothing to address updating the path from immigrant to citizen, but for the time and place it was the best that could be negotiated with a GOP who's idea to control the border is to build a wall and admit one who isn't paler than pale.

As already stated in comments above it would have added judges to shrink the application to review timeline, eliminating the reality of too many humans who applied years to decades ago who now exist in administrative limbo, some who won't pass muster but, limbo so here they are. Thank you DonOld Trump.

Also included in the bill was funding to educate personnel to operate technology already purchased, sitting in storage closets gathering dust and becoming more obsolete by the minute to combat the smuggling of fentanyl into the USA. Based on the number of attack ads I've witnessed against humans running for office under the Democratic ticket this was the point. Don't tell me you are strong on stopping fentanyl or that someone's death is the responsibility of the Democrat in office when it was DonOld Trump, titular head of the GOP and GodKing of MAGA who killed the bill which would have stopped the drugs from entering the country and possibly preventing said loved one from overdosing. Possible. They took the pill in the first place. Accountability please if you are going to play the accusation game. Tragedy, yes. Regrettable, yes. But that is it. DonOld Trump killed the bill, thanks so much.

Who said DonOld Trump killed the bill? Mitch McConnell, Speaker Mike Johnson, and DonOld Trump were the main players. There were too many second string players who repeated the claim to name here. Suffice it to say they all said the same thing, kind of like a mind control thing. Really creepy to be honest.

DonOld Trump killed a woman's right to health care and the best negotiated border bill in decades (bipartisan support per traditional media). Death has followed which means he is culpable for every human who dies because of this inaction. And anyone who supports this human is a coconspirator.

legal is black and white, no grey. no wiggle room. own it or walk away. not often binary but here we are.

  12. To Anon at October 17, 2024 at 12:21 AM

The Harris/Walz policy explanations are on their website. It has been proven that talking about said policies when on TV interviews does not sway undecided voters. How is it that you don't know this fact?

Also in the how do you not know this but the last six years have been dominated by the Trump/MAGA machine; flooding the courts with too numerous to list lawsuits challenging everything from where people are allowed to vote to the manuals governing how people vote. It's been one nonstop whinefest from Trump who decided to run almost three years ago. Add to theses facts Republicans hold the House aka the purse strings of government so no, the USA may have had a President from the Democratic Party but there was in no way Democratic party rule. How do I know? We still don't have a bill from Congress addressing the border.

But this, your last statement takes the cake. You said "You didn't have an issue with -H calling republicans deplorable or biden saying republicans are a threat to our nation and threaten free speech when it was -H and biden who want social media censored and demanded trump not be allowed on twitter."

You say all these things as if I personally said them. You say all these things without a shred of proof or acknowledgement of what the GOP was saying/doing at the time, as if the Democratic Party exists whole within itself in a vacuum.

How... cultist of you. And for the record, no I didn't disagree with Clinton's deplorable comment after Trumps grab them by the women parts tape and mocking of a disabled reporter. The bigger question is why didn't you speak out against such things? Your language suggests you agreed with Trump. Change my mind anon whom I suspect is Ralph.
