Capitalism IS Christianity in its' most Protestant secularized form... it's the "Calvinist" (Reformed Christianity) heresy pushed to its' polemic end... the "commodification of Labour" (which strips all "culture" OUT of labour and transforms it into a mere "commodity"). After all:
Many ways to come at the 'evangelical' bunch. Hedges is from the inside, he being an ordained pastor. A brief look at the beatitudes should make it a slam dunk.
I am glad that I walk a spiritual path that while not Christian or Jewish, or Muslim actually embodies much of the positive attributes of Jesus of Nazareth's teachings. Without the overlay of bigotry and judment so common in monotheistic spiritual paths that have twisted the teachings in actual practice in the modern world.

The missing point in this conversation? Meden Agan (Nothing too much). Polemics (ala Chris Hedges [who I admire]) are definitionally "biased".
Or more succinctly, "There's no Christ in Christian Nationalism".

Capitalism, according to Max Weber, is Greed with an Ethical... Imperative... and that Imperative came from Calvinism.
