Charges Dropped in Reflecting Pool Case as Prosecutors Say Work Was ‘Botched’
“The Justice Department moved to dismiss the criminal case against Olympian David Hearn. Prosecutors said new evidence showed the damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was caused by a faulty installation, not Hearn.”
So, the Reflecting Pool accusations against the Olympian brought by Trump’s DoJ were all Trumpian lies. Trump and his lackeys were willing to put an innocent American in prison to cover up Trump’s gross incompetence and lies. The no- bid, $14 million contract for painting the surface of the Reflecting Pool was done by a Trump pal who is a member of his Mar-a-Largo Club. This stinks of corruption.
That’s where we are in Trump’s disastrous 2nd term. Where is the righteous outrage on this newest insult to our justice system by the convicted felon president
We’ve seen innocent Americans and others gunned down and killed on our streets by Trump’s ICE goons, and now we know Trump was willing to put an innocent American in prison for up to 10 years to cover up his gross incompetence and lies.
The stench of Trump will follow MAGA forever.
DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s office wrote in a new court filing Friday:
“It was not until after the return of the indictment [of Hearn], that the [Department of Interior] provided additional documents to the [US Attorney’s Office in DC] indicating that damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in June 2026 was the result of flawed installation by the contractor, Atlantic Industrial Coatings, and the rush to complete the project prior to events associated with the America 250 celebration in the weeks surrounding Independence Day 2026.” —McGill News

Ithaka
I saw Christopher Nolan's, The Odyssey this week, and I remembered this poem I read years ago by a major figure of modern Greek literature, Constantine P. Cavafy.
It speaks to me as I grow older that it is better to travel hopefully than to arrive:

Wednesday's Dr. Fauci hearing: "Content Production."
Dr. Fauci went into the hearing knowing Rand Paul had publicly stated that he wants Dr. Fauci in prison.
Dr. Fauci was right to follow his lawyer's advice to take the 5th, and Rand Paul is a disgrace for saying Dr. Fauci will face "repercussions" for invoking his Constitutionally guaranteed rights.
Today's hearing was a debacle.
"...show trials are bad for democracy and do nothing to get us closer to either truth or consensus. Hanging over every conversation about what happened during the pandemic of the recent past is anxiety about what might happen should we face a pandemic in the near future. In projecting all of a difficult era’s conflicts onto Dr. Fauci, Republicans evade the harder work of figuring out what we actually should learn from his, and our, mistakes." --Rachel Bedard, MD, New York Times

Trump's "Make America Great Again" Failure
The MAGA cultists wear their red hats saying "Make America Great Again."
They refuse to see the truth:
Trump has done the EXACT opposite.
China is viewed more favorably than is the US, thanks to Trump's anti-democracy, authoritarian policies.
Also, his obvious stupidity and malignant narcissism combined with his horrible personal morality.
I'm not surprised.
Is anyone?

An awkward moment at the WH Correspondence Dinner and Awards Ceremony
By now, you've seen the White House Correspondence Awards dinner and the video below.
Look at the despicable man-child laughing off the fact that he doxxed and endangered the life of Wall Street Journal journalist, Khadeeja Safdar. Her home address was included in public court filings during a $20 billion lawsuit filed by Donald Trump against the publication, forcing her and her family to relocate over safety concerns. Safdar was the only reporter whose address was published in Trump's law suit filings.
In accepting the award, she refused to pretend she was pleased to shake the hand of the monster who endangered her and her family's lives.
Trump's reaction? A shrug of his shoulders and a goofy smile -- total lack of human understanding for what he did.

Arrogance!
A disgusting display of MAGA wealth and arrogance:
- Around 300 demonstrators marched to the Riva dei Sette Martiri waterfront where the six-story yacht, named Boardwalk, was moored.
- Protesters carried inflatable beach toys, a yacht-length banner, and signs with slogans like "Make America Go Away" and "Venice is not to be used" (Venezia non si USA).
- Minor scuffles broke out and demonstrators briefly clashed with riot police guarding the access points before shouting "Shame!" at the ambassador, police, and local officials.
- Display of Wealth: Activists criticized the massive vessel—which loomed taller than nearby historic buildings—as an arrogant and gross display of extreme wealth.
- Security and Disruption: Locals and Italian politicians expressed anger that public police resources were diverted to act as a free private security detail for a billionaire's vessel.
- Political Tensions: Protesters voiced anger over U.S. policies under President Donald Trump and local frustrations regarding mass tourism and the economic struggles of everyday Venetians.

Trump's Brain is Total Mush
NOTE:
Thank you Dave Dubya and Possumlady for pointing out that this DJT Truth Social post is a parody and not authentic. But it is so nutty and batshyte crazy, that I believed it was true and didn’t fact check it this morning as I rushed out the door to the goat farm!
I regret the error.
Mad King Trump wants his Homeland Security secretary to see if detention centers for the undocumented could also be used to detain and keep Democrats locked up because the idiot, Mad King Trump, believes all Democrats are Communists.
And he's calls THEM lunatics.

The Trump administration and the Tate brothers:
Allen Clifton:
Andrew Tate, a well-known “manosphere influencer” and friend of Donald Trump Jr., along with his brother, were arrested in Miami on 59 charges they’re facing in England — charges that include sexual assault and human trafficking.
Why were they in Miami?
Because the Trump administration put pressure on Romanian officials to allow them to leave the country after they were arrested and placed under house arrest for sexual assault, human trafficking, and other terrible and disgusting alleged crimes there.
Trump was inaugurated on January 20, 2025, and the Tate brothers were freed and arrived in the United States less than two months later. That’s how quickly this happened.
Yes, the same administration led by Donald Trump, who’s covering up the Epstein files, moved Ghislaine Maxwell to a cushy minimum-security prison she’s not qualified to be at due to the heinous nature of her crimes, is also the same administration that helped bring the Tate brothers back to the United States — a move even Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis denounced.
You don’t really need to use a whole lot of mental energy to realize that there’s a clear pattern with this president and how comfortable, if not outright encouraging, he is around people who abuse women.
Whether it’s the nearly 30 women who’ve accused him of sexual assault, his defense secretary, who settled a lawsuit with a woman who accused him of sexual assault and whose own mother called him an abuser of women, his 15-plus-year friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, the fact that Matt Gaetz was his first pick for attorney general, or his help in bringing the Tate brothers back to the United States — there’s clearly a pattern.
Yet MAGA will just keep making excuses for Trump because that’s what they’ll do for the guy who’s literally on video bragging about sexually assaulting women and showing a clear level of comfort with and support for others who abuse and assault women.
What Actually Happened
Diplomatic Pressure: In early 2025, foreign policy envoys and officials within the Trump administration (including Special Envoy Richard Grenell) raised the Tate brothers' case with Romanian officials.
Travel Ban Lifted: Shortly after these diplomatic talks, Romanian courts unexpectedly lifted the travel restrictions keeping the Tates in the country, allowing the U.S. citizens to fly to Florida while still under indictment in Romania.
Subsequent Arrest in the U.S.: Upon arriving in Florida, the brothers were taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in connection with an extradition warrant from the United Kingdom regarding separate sexual assault and trafficking allegations.
Why the Admistration intervened
Administration Ties: Paul Ingrassia, a former lawyer for the Tate brothers, was appointed as White House Liaison for the Department of Justice under the administration.
Political Support: Members of the administration's inner circle, including Donald Trump Jr., publicly criticized the Romanian government's detention of the Tates, calling their arrest unjust.
Consular & Passport Claims: U.S. officials framed parts of their outreach around recovering the brothers' U.S. passports and ensuring two American citizens were not subjected to unfair foreign detention.
