BREAKING NEWS

Nigeria has been declared officially free of Ebola after six weeks with no new cases, the World Health Organization (WHO) says.

According to the BBC, the Spanish nurse who was the first person to contract Ebola outside of West Africa has tested negative for the virus (a second test is required before she’ll be officially free of the disease). And the United States has reached an important milestone: the 21-day monitoring period for the 48 people who had contact with Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian man who died of Ebola in Dallas, ended on Sunday and Monday. Aside from the two nurses who cared for him, there have been no new infections.

MILLER AND PALADINO AND O'DONNELL! OH MY!

Joe Miller, the Palin-endorsed Tea Party candidate who claimed that unemployment compensation was unConstitutional has been revealed as a...wait for it... surprise! HYPOCRITE!

Miller's wife briefly worked for him.  SHE VOLUNTARILY LEFT HER JOB and took unemployment compensation!  That's the GOP way:

"Do as I say, not as I do."

"Tea Party-backed Alaska Senate candidate Joe Miller (R) thinks federal unemployment insurance is constitutionally questionable. But it turns out his wife benefited from it in the early part of the decade -- after she left a job working for him.

According to a resume that she submitted to the state of Alaska in 2009, Miller's wife, Kathleen, worked for him briefly in 2002. In a statement yesterday, the Miller campaign acknowledged that she received unemployment benefits after she left.

'After leaving my office Kathleen did receive unemployment benefits for a short period of time,' Miller acknowledged. Unemployment benefits are typically only given to workers who are fired without cause or laid off."

Miller on unemployment compensation benefits:

"The unemployment compensation benefits have gotten -- first of all, it's not constitutionally authorized. I think that's the first thing that's gotta be looked at, so I do not favor their extension."
Just like that other Alaska hypocrite, Joe Miller was FOR unemployment compensation benefits before he was AGAINST them--you know, like that "Bridge To Nowhere" that Palin was FOR before she was AGAINST it.

Must be a GOP Alaskan thing.  Blatant political hypocrisy.  Hoping no one will notice.  Hey, Joe.  We noticed and it's seedy.  It's part of the GOP ethos:  "I got mine; screw you."

That's the choice this November.  The sleazies who yammer on about the sanctity of the Constitution while at the same time getting their greasy fingers on every piece of pork they can stuff in their sanctimonious pockets.

And speaking of sleaze--Republican candidate for governor of New York, Carl Paladino, [the guy who passed around racist and pornographic emails]  is lagging behind New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo:

"A new Siena poll of likely voters has found Democrat Andrew Cuomo leading Republican Carl Paladino 56%-32% in the race for New York governor.

In addition, the poll finds that 61% agree with the statement "Carl Paladino is a loose cannon, who doesn't have the temperament to be governor," compared to 34% who disagree."

I've saved the silliest for last, since one should always "leave 'em laughing."  The nuttiest of nutty candidates this year is another Tea Party candidate, Christine O'Donnell, who is running for the senate from the state of Delaware.  I don't know what Deleware ever did to deserve such an embarrassingly kooky candidate for such a serious political office.  I guess the people backing her thought, hey! pretty but with no knowledge of history, foreign or domestic policy worked for Sarah, why won't it work for Christine!

In addition to finding out that O'Donnell dabbled in witchcraft, we learned she lied about what schools she attended, she was delinquent in paying taxes, and her college tuition, she had to defend herself against allegations that she spent campaign money on personal expenses, she believes evolution is a myth, wonders why monkeys are not still turning into humans, and would have become a vegetarian, except she loves her meatballs. Yes she does.  She sure loves her meatballs.

There you have it.  This is the creme dela creme of the Tea Party movement.  This is who they believe will best be able to deliberate on foreign and domestic issues that affect every American.  We can either laugh,  cry or gnash our teeth, but we cannot allow a goofball like her anywhere near the legislative process.

In her latest circus act, O'Donnell has put out a video where she employs the Nixonian defense:

"I AM NOT A WITCH!"

You can find it yourself on the "internets."  I'm not going to promote another circus act.

Miller also claims that minimum wage is unconsitutional....sadly, there is a whole bunch of Supreme Court Cases that uphold the Constitutional basis for a federal minimum wage...

Well, when you line these three up you realize that their puppetmasters really don't think much about democracy nor do they have a whole lot of respect for the intelligence of the common man...

Just because he doesn't like the system has not stopped a single Republican yet from milking it.

So many opportunities, so little blog space...

You left out Sharron "I can't win if you stay in the race Jon Scott Ashjian" Angle, the candidate from my state trying to unseat Harry Reid.

Only a fool would think a rookie senator like her could possibly be of more worth to a small state like Nevada.

The thing that worries me about these tea bagger candidates like Paladino is my old adage: It's never wise to put an asshole in charge. Yet for some reason an asshole almost always ends up in charge.

For tea baggers and republicans as a whole being an asshole is the first requirement for public office. It's their unwritten rule.

So we can anticipate O'Donnell losing, setting up a PAC, ghost-writing books and appearing on TV pimping herself?

...like that "Bridge To Nowhere" that Palin was FOR before she was AGAINST it.

A little odder than that, really. Like you said, despite her claim in her acceptance speech that "I told Congress, thanks but no thanks on that Bridge to Nowhere," part of her campaign for governor included pushing for the bridge to get built: she even told Ketchikan residents she felt their pain when politicians called them "nowhere."

The twisted part is that once she got the money, she basically stole it for other state projects; the only part of the bridge that got built was is an access road to the beach where the bridge would have gone. That money was earmarked, and would have to have been returned.

Note to readers: I deleted the psychotic rant from Jack Reylan (above). Do not visit: May also be a malware site. Several liberal blogs have been infected with malware recently!

More information about the above comment, there is a malware virus that creates strikeout text (all text crossed out with lines running through it). I noticed it in comments that arrived in my moderation box. The words "Publish," "Reject," and "Mark as spam" were crossed though as strikeout text. An entire blog spot at MadMike's blog had strikeout text.

Recommendation: Use comment moderation and do not open or click on any link from any UNKNOWN commenter. And check Blogger for virus reports.

TAO, when you line these three up you realize that the Tea Party supports ignorance and idiocy, and their biggest supporter is Palin.

K,

The GOP: "Do as I say, not as I do.

Dave,

Thanks for the link--again! I didn't blog about Angle because I didn't think anyone would believe how far out there she is.

Ayatollah,

You are wise, and Paladino is a major "trou du cul."

Nameless,

Yes, we can expect O'Donnell will probably get a job with FAUX News where the Goopers will hang on her every nincompoopery that falls from her lips.

(O)CT(O),

Thank you so much for your vigilance. I had to be away for most of the day. Comment moderation is now on.

Thanks for the warning.

I am soooooooo tired.

What is it about the GOP that so many crackpots are attracted to it?

sending you positive thoughts and wishes for a good nights sleep Shaw!

These teabagger candidates are proof the right is heading down a path of destruction. May they implode and never resurface....

Besides being a certifiable born-again idiot I don't get what's so pretty about this woman. Beneath that big fake smile is a very big blank looking woman.

Shaw. Rest, rest, rest.

So did y'all read what Eric Cantor said to the WSJ reporter?

"Mr. Cantor believes the American-Jewish community is overwhelmingly Democratic because Jews 'are prone to want to help the underdog.'"

And last night I finished reading the article about Glenn Beck in the NYTimes Sunday Magazine where Beck said of himself:

"I'm a recovering dirtbag."

O'Donnell: "I am not a witch!"

Take all three of those comments by well-know GOPers and one wonders how in god's green teeth have these people been able to dominate the political narrative?

It's true our nation lags behind other democracies in education--we lag waaaaaay behind on all the important subject. However, we are number one in one area: Confidence!

American school kids are confident in their ignorance--just like the GOPers!

Shaw, off topic, but Beth has decided to discontinue her blog...

Tonight she will taking it down...

He's half right. And I mean right.

Dave,

Did she give any reason? She had some good traffic to her blog recently.

She may return.

K,

Those are Beck's own words about himself. And he apparently knows what he's talking about.

It’s news to me that a person can collect unemployment for "quitting" a job. I wonder how the paperwork was completed. I'd like to have a peek at it.

You see the ex-employee has to file, then the employer has to either agree with or dispute the ex-employee "claim". So, if Miller fibbed, did her husband fib too? I’m not saying either did, just skeptical. I was an “employer” for over 20 years and had a lot of experience with unemployment claims, etc.

Dave Miller said...

Shaw, no she didn't...

I think she just got overwhelmed with her Mom getting sick and stuff...

She also said she would not be visiting blogs either.

From an earlier post, I believe her to be really in despair about a lot of stuff, particularity the political process...

As an aside to everyone... this Joe Miller chap is no family to me... I hate seeing my name dragged through the mud.
