WHAT I'M HAPPY ABOUT THE MID-TERM ELECTIONS

We knew that the House would flip to the GOP--that's not unusual in mid-term elections.  So instead of sulking over the expected losses, I'm enjoying the satisfying wins.  And there are more than I expected:

FIRST AND GREATEST!

HARRY REID IS RE-ELECTED OVER PALIN-BACKED TEA PARTY NUTJOB, SHARRON ANGLE, BY 5 PERCENTAGE POINTS!  BIG, BIG WIN.

YOU GAVE HER HELL, HARRY! (Sharon Angle lost her own home town!)

MASSACHUSETTS GOVERNOR DEVAL PATRICK HANDILY BEAT CHARLIE BAKER IN RE-ELECTION FIGHT!  CONGRATULATIONS GOVERNOR PATRICK!

NEW YORK ATTORNEY GENERAL, ANDREW CUOMO, BEAT THE TEA PARTY NUTJOB, CARL PALADINO!

CONGRATULATIONS GOVERNOR-ELECT CUOMO!

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has defeated Linda McMahon, the Republican nominee, in the contest to succeed retiring Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd.  Congratulations Senator-elect Blumenthal!

CHRIS COONS DEFEATED TEA PARTY NUTJOB AND PALIN-BACKED CANDIDATE, CHRISTINE O'DONNELL.

CONGRATULATIONS SENATOR-ELECT COONS!

DEMOCRATIC MASSACHUSETTS REPRESENTATIVE , BARNEY FRANK, EASILY WINS OVER REPUBLICAN SEAN BIELAT.  CONGRATULATIONS REPRESENTATIVE FRANK!

PALIN-BACKED CANDIDATE Jackie Walorski conceded the 2nd District race in Indiana to incumbent Democrat Joe Donnelly.

Congratulations to Senator Barbara Boxer on her re-election to the US Senate and her decisive win over Palin-backed candidate Carly Fiorina!

And congratulations to Governor-elect of California, Jerry Brown, in his win over multi-billionaire Meg Whitman, who spent $150 million dollars of her own money to buy the governorship of California.   Go Brown!

Colorado and Alaska too close to call.

MASSACHUSETTS:

By Dan Payne Nov 3, 2010, 12:14 AM (wbur)

"Massachusetts tonight proved that Sen. Scott Brown’s victory in January was more fluke than the leading edge of a trend. As of now, it looks like a clean sweep for incumbents in Congress and an all-Democratic night for candidates for constitutional office (Suzanne Bump leads Mary Z. Connaughton, of this writing).

Rep. Jeff Perry’s loss proves that Character trumps Ideology, as voters in the 10th district chose to believe the victim of a strip search rather than Perry’s account. Brown is going to have to relive his deep and abiding support for Perry in Brown’s re-election in 2012."

"Two months ago, they predicted a landslide, a tidal wave. They predicted we would lose BOTH houses. The Senate will remain with the Dems, and the House will have a small GOP majority. The extent to which the GOP pickups were minimized constitute a victory, progressives."--ED Schultz

And lastly, come January 2011, the new Speaker of the House:

"As for you, John Boehner: jobs jobs jobs jobs jobs. If you and your corporate buddies don’t produce jobs jobs jobs jobs jobs by 2012, it's gonna be one helluva short honeymoon. And we'll remember that you told your right-wing fringe last night that "I'll never let you down."

As Lawrence O'Donnell responded, in the understatement of the evening: "Oh...yes...you...will."--h/t the dailykos

Now that you put it that way . . . I can go back to bed and maybe even fall asleep.

It looks like Patty Murray will hold on in Washington state, too.

There will be other elections. And a fair amount of buyer's remorse over the next two years.

Certainly glad to see Angle and Paladino go down. Still queasy about Rand Paul.

Soon it's going to dawn on the Republicans that they failed to take the Senate because of the teabaggers. Angle and O'Donnell lost races moderates would have won easily. Don't know about Buck in Colorado yet, but it could be the same thing. The infighting on the right is going to continue.

The House losses and governorships going red were painful.

But I urge everyone to read Maureen Dowd's column in today's NYTimes.

And take courage. It's very, very instructive not to mention astounding.

I wouldn't be so gleeful about this election if I were John of Orange.

I've been through 'the destruction of the Democratic Party, more times than I can remember.

The Dems were punished for doing what needed doing.

Nothing new there.

The Repubs have uncorked the Tea Party and it will be amusing to watch them try and stuff that load of fanatics back into the bottle come January when it comes time to go back to the work of catering to their corporate masters.

It won't be a pretty sight.

Delaying the inevitable the Tea Partiers are headed to extinction. The world is changing. The nation is changing and the privileges 'Real American's enjoy are going to be shared by a growing number of others. That's just the way it is.

There are more elections in the future and plenty more opportunities to work toward doing what's right for our nation.

Don't get mad. Get even.

YAY!! Shaw thanks for giving us something to cheer about...I AM NOT SULKING!! These wins by our wonderful Democratic Party are HUGE! I don't want to hear any doom and gloom talk, we are gonna be just fine and in GREAT shape for 2012. Can you imagine the GOP doing anything different from what they've done for the past 2 years? NOT ME! They don't know how to govern, they are probably shaking in their fuzzy slippers this morning because they realize now they have to show the voters what they are made of! PUKE!!

YAY President Obama, VP Joe Biden, and our Democratic Party, LOVE Them!!

We got beat up by a bunch of tea bag pandering assholes locally Shaw. I have to brood. These people don't care if we ever get a job, bridge, road project or anything as long as there's an r by the name of the office holder.

You live in a wonderful state. My Mom was from there. I live in Democrat Hell.

Truth, someone has to bring the light to those dark corners of the world...

Why not someone as enlightened as you...

TRUTH101, never give up; never give in!

I lived in Florida for 10 years. Glad I left that place. They elected a guy who was involved in Medicaid fraud! A multi-millionaire. How ELITIST!

The Goopers tried to pin that on President Obama--an ELITIST. He's from a broken home, not a multi-millionaire. But wait! He is an elitist when it comes to having intelligence. Goopers consider that "elitist," having an intellect! LOL!

No matter. Massachusetts stayed true blue.

And Scott Brown backed a loser!

And Bennet has been declared the winner in Colorado.

Thankfully my guy Michael Bennet won!! He beat the Tea Party, misogynistic, knuckle-head, Ken Buck.
