SARAH PALIN™ IN THATland!

I know.  February is supposed to be "Ignore Sarah Palin Month;" but after reading her gobbledethattery on a subject she knows nothing about, I couldn't resist posting her embarrassing gibberish. 

She craves exposure; we'll give it to her.


Palin has ZERO foreign policy creds, but she can't keep her mouth shut about foreign policy, of which she knows nothing.  She's second guessing the president who is privy to information she could not possibly understand.  The following are her silly remarks on a very serious subject. 

"This is that 3 a.m. White House phone call, and it seems for many of us trying to get that information from our leader in the White House, it seems that that call went right to the answering machine."

There she goes again.  What exactly does the second "that" in the above-sentence refer to?

 Not satisfied with her first and second "thats," she assaults us with two more "thats" but never explains what she's talking about.   Sadly, she cannot tell us how "it seems" like anything but what she conjures in her vacuous imagination. 


"Is it going to be the Muslim Brotherhood," Palin asked. "We should not stand for that, or with that, or by that. Any radical Islamists. No, that is not who we should be supporting and standing by ... we need to find out who was behind all of the turmoil and the revolt and the protests so that good decisions can be made in terms of who we will stand by and support."



Oh yes, a bit of a touch of Lincoln in her ruminations on the Muslim Brotherhood. [Another subject she knows nothing about.] More sprinklings of "thats," because when you have very little to say, "that" is an excellent filler.  Apparently, she wasn't watching the teevee.  Otherwise, she would have seen with her own adorable eyes who was in the street revolting and protesting.  THAT'S for sure.




"Nobody yet has explained to the American people what they know, and surely they know more than the rest of us know, who it is who will be taking the place of Mubarak and I'm not real enthused about what it is that, that's being done on a national level and from D.C. in regards to understanding all the situation there in Egypt."

Where to start?  Nobody has explained to the American people what they know? 


What do the American people know, and when did they know it! 


But then Mrs. Palin says "they" [the American people?] know more than the rest [more American people?] know. 


And why is she not "enthused about what it is that, that's being done on a national level and from D.C.?  When one speaks on a "national level" one IS speaking from DC.

 So Mrs. Palin wants to know what it is that, that's being done "on" DC and from DC? And, of course, "in regards to understanding ALL THE SITUATION THERE in Egypt."

Where?  THERE!  in Egypt.  Of course. 


My head hurts.


"And in these areas that are so volatile right now because obviously it's not just Egypt but the other countries too where we are seeing uprisings, we know that now more than ever, we need strength and sound mind there in the White House."

"If this is future president Palin's take on current foreign policy, she has a lot to learn. No one in America knows who will succeed Mubarak because right now he's simply trying to satisfy his own citizens on making reforms. In the immediacy of the situation, Egypt has to stop the bleeding before it can think about healing a long-term wound.


Palin simply doesn't understand that the United States can't just interfere with a sovereign nation without damaging our relationship with the rest of the world. If we meddle in Egyptian affairs there will be drastic consequences, nor can we send in our military to back up any assertions of who we want in place of Mubarak. Egypt is a sovereign nation and must decide for itself. It's none of our business, plain and simple."


"When asked what she might do differently if she were to run for the Presidency, Palin said, "I would continue on the same course of not really caring what other people say about me or worrying about the things that they make up, but having that thick skin and a steel spine, knowing that what is needed in America are those things that Ronald Reagan did espouse and what he lived."


This is rubbish, since Mrs. Palin cares very deeply about what other people say about her.  Her skin is as thick as an onion's, since she never misses a chance to strike back at every criticism she imagines is undeservedly aimed at her.  And someone with a "steel spine" would not have quit her job half way through it.  Sarah Palin's™ "spine" is made not of steel, but of dollars.


"Palin expressed surprise at the reaction to her decision to turn down the coveted keynote speaker position at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington next week. She said she simply did not have time, but she encouraged political debate in general."




"What it is that you're suggesting in the question is should the GOP, should conservatives not reach out to others, not participate in events or forums that perhaps are rising within those forums are issues that maybe we don't personally agree with? And I say no, it's like you being on a panel shoot, with a bunch of the liberal folks whom you have been on and you provide good information and balance, and you allow for healthy debate, which is needed in order for people to gather information and make up their own minds about issues. "

This is unintelligible.  Can anyone tell me what she means?  I get lost in her maze of words at "...in events or forums that perhaps are rising within those forums are issues..."  I may as well be chasing a white rabbit than trying to understand where her thought is going.  [She doesn't know; how can she expect anyone else to?] 


There really is no way to fathom this:  "... it's like you being on a panel shoot, with a bunch of the liberal folks whom you have been on..."


"Palin also criticized the media in general, saying it is becoming irrelevant, she said because of a lack of balance in reporting."




"I want to help 'em. ... I have a journalism degree, that is what I studied. I understand that this cornerstone of our democracy is a free press, is sound journalism. I want to help them build back their reputation and allow Americans to be able to trust what it is they are reporting."


Mrs. Palin reminds us, once again, that she has a degree in journalism so that we understand how knowledgeable she is in all things having to do with fact-finding, accuracy, reporting, and literacy.  


She fancies herself an expert on how journalism should be done.  Afterall, she says she wants "to help 'them'[sic] build back their reputation[sic] and allow Americans to be able to trust what it is they are reporting."
