A Long Time Ago, When Republicans Were Sane...

And believed in All-American Values:

He could not be nominated for the presidency in today's bat-shit crazy GOP

DDE called the splinter group that has taken over the Republican Party "stupid."

And who would argue with his prescient observation?

If Eisenhower were alive today, he'd be a Democrat. So would Nixon. Even Goldwater and Reagan might be. The Republican party in its present incarnation would not accept leaders who spoke and acted as they actually did. They would have been hounded as RINOs.

Eisenhower was half prescient. Those people are stupid, but they are no longer tiny in number, within the party.

So, you want to be just like the Republicans and turn back time?

Anon @11:16,

Not turn back time, Anon, what you either fail to understand or deliberately misinterpret (trollish behavior) is that once upon a time Republicans were sane.

That is all this post is about.

Also, why would anyone want to remain stupid, as Republican President Eisenhower said the "splinters" of the GOP are?

Here's the entire quotation by President Eisenhower, taken from a letter he wrote to his brother, Edgar Newton Eisenhower:

"Now it is true that I believe this country is following a dangerous trend when it permits too great a degree of centralization of governmental functions. I oppose this — in some instances the fight is a rather desperate one. But to attain any success it is quite clear that the Federal government cannot avoid or escape responsibilities which the mass of the people firmly believe should be undertaken by it. The political processes of our country are such that if a rule of reason is not applied in this effort, we will lose everything — even to a possible and drastic change in the Constitution. This is what I mean by my constant insistence upon "moderation" in government.

Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H.L. Hunt (you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

I see Stupids everywhere:

"I charge Barack Hussein obama and these Democrats-Progressives-Socialist, Commies with abuse of power and neglect of duty as well as ignoring our Constitution and our Bill of Rights.

What has happened to America in the past 5-6 years? We elected Obama to the presidency and went to bed as a free people and woke up in a Totalitarian Police State with loss freedoms and loss of our Liberties. The Democratic Party has become a bunch of hoodlums and communists who are Hell bent on Transforming America into another Cuba, or North Korea, what has happened to the US Constitution and our Bill of Rights? Have the African Americans taken it away, it seems to me that they can do and say anything that they please to but if you are White, you are totally screwed!"

Has anyone asked the person who created that word salad exactly which of his/her rights have been taken away by the "Democrats-Progressives-Socialist, and Commies?"

Has the Obama Administration invaded their homes? Shut down their churches? Thrown dissenters in jail? Set up firing squads for people who disagree with them? Shut down the blogsphere where idiots like the person quoted above can rant about "rights being taken away," while enjoying the right to rant like a demented hyena?

Stupidity! Eisenhower knew what he was talking about and predicted how hysterical and deranged the extremists in his party would become. Proof is in the above quote.

Obama, Clinton Continue Reign as Most Admired

Sixth year in a row for Obama, 12th straight year for Clinton

Most Admired Man in the World, Bill Gates, who narrowly edged out US President Barack Obama, who took second place.

The last two comments were for the Anonymous who left a comment about President Obama that stated the world is laughing at us.

Obviously, like a lot (not all) of these "Anonymous" commenters, they have the disease of thinking that their OPINIONS are FACTS.

Poor dears don't know the difference.

So, to recap PRESIDENT OBAMA IS THE SECOND MOST ADMIRED MAN IN THE ENTIRE WORLD ACCORDING TO THIS -- EDGED OUT ONLY BY BILL GATES, multi-billionaire founder of Microsoft.

Still trying to figure that one out. Obama 2'nd place. Is there a.stat for just the US? I usually don't keep up this stuff.

Shaw Kenawe said...

It's not really important, RN. I was just answering an Anonymous troll who left a comment that claimed the whole world was laughing at the US because of Obama.

Hyperbole based on his or her delusions.

Those people are in control of the GOP, that's true, but they will soon become an even more shrinking minority. The Millennials (ages 18 to 31) are more liberal and less religious than the older, white GOPers were at that age).

Now the good right wing Christianists want an exemption from doing business with icky gay people. The Supreme court has opened a can of cockroaches for sure and the fake religionists aare crawling all over the constitution because of what they did.

Sadly, it’s not going to be a very happy Forth of July for many Americans who can’t even afford to fill up their Gas Tanks to take their Kids out for a drive to the Country.

Once upon a time Republicans were what you wanted them to be.
They were not winning elections and Democrats had been running the country since 1930.
You would really prefer they "stay on the farm" wouldn't you.
It just galls you that as dumb as you think they are, they keep winning elections and hold enough majority so your president can't get anything done.
Time for you to kneel and pray to the East for your messiah president. And chant in unison, "there are no idiots in the Democratic party."

You didn't bother to read history.

Before President Obama, the Republicans held the White House for 28 out of the last 40 years.

And George W. Bush had the WH and Congress for 6 out of his 8 years.

Besides dragging us into a disastrous war and implementing the Patriot Act, and Medicare Part D, and not paying for those programs, plus giving tax breaks to the rich which plunged us into drowning deficits, what did he do?

And this statement:

"It just galls you that as dumb as you think they are, they keep winning elections and hold enough majority so your president can't get anything done."

is a perfect example of a typical TGOPer's spiteful wallowing in divisiveness, because they hate President Obama more than they love America.

BTW, they keep winning election in the solid south, but states that were once solid red, like Virginia and Florida are turning purple and will soon be blue.

The Democrats actually won more votes in the House elections in 2012 than did the Republicans. Another fact you are unaware of.

So your silly schoolyard boast about winning elections is uninformed and rises to the level of 3rd grader's Nyah! Nyah! Nyah!

Smarter trolls please.

Happy 4th of July to the folks who are not like the mean-spirited and unhappy troll.
