"This latest statement comes just after an interview with CNBC’s John Harwood, in which Christie said, 'Some people are feeling the pressure to try to be outrageous to get on the news. If you think you’ve got the best product, you’ve got to be patient. Slow, steady progress. So I’m not going to get into the hyperbole.' "

When the Tea Party was young and fresh, when there was talk about fiscal responsibility, balancing budgets, and working down the national debt it was refreshing.
Things change, not always for the best.
The problem is that their original supporters don't see the change...or blame the change on the Democrats.

In April of 2009, April 15th to be exact, I was visiting friends in Boca Raton, Florida, and happened to be downtown where a demonstration by the new Tea Party was being held. It wasn't a large demonstration at all, less than 50 people, IIRC. People were holding signs that read "I want my country back!" and chanting the same phrase. This was less than 3 months after President Obama was sworn into office! He didn't even have all his cabinet people appointed!
I knew immediately that the crowd was no "grass roots" organization, but astroturf set up by some group with an agenda. Who in their right (heh) mind would be demonstrating for wanting their country back before the new administration was even settled in?
We now know that Congressional Republicans plotted to sabotage and disrupt the newly elected president who won by a clear and impressive majority. Where did these people come from?
It's all been documented.
There is at least a chance of trichinosis for Machine Gun Ted.
The Goonfather! Ha! Why is he even bothering to run for the presidency? The folks in New Jersey despise him. They booed the crap outta him the other day, not once but twice. Normal people don't like loud-mouthed bullies -- normal people, that leaves out the T-GOPers who think Christie would be a terrific president.
"During a 2011 radio appearance, Huckabee attacked actress Natalie Portman for having a child "out of wedlock," lamenting how "it's unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out of children wedlock." Huckabee said that it's "troubling" to see people like "Natalie Portman or some other Hollywood starlet who boasts of, 'Hey look, you know, we're having children, we're not married, but we're having these children, and they're doing just fine.'"
Hey, Bristol Palin, did you read what Huckabee wrote about women like YOU and your uncontrollable libidos?! Or are Hollywood types the only women that get Huckabee-shamed? Good Xtian women who have 2 out-of-wedlock pregnancies are to be praised because they didn't abort the babies.
Natalie Portman, btw, married the father of her child.
Twink: The Goonfather! Ha! Why is he even bothering to run for the presidency?
Good question. He's lost his niche. There actually seem to be quite a lot of Republicans who want a loud-mouthed bully for President. The problem, for Christie, is that those people have all migrated over to Trump.
Sadly I will be able to watch the circus er... "debate".
Former Reagan Admin member and GOP backer Bruce Bartlett, one of the few seemingly sane outspoken members left in the party had this say recently... "The Trump phenomenon perfectly represents the culmination of populism and anti-intellectualism that became dominant in the Republican Party with the rise of the Tea Party"
Bartlett believes the only way for the GOP so return to a sane center right posture is for Trump tp win the nomination and then get crushed so the GOP will be forced to retrench.
It is interesting to note however that political follower Jeff Greenfield points out that sometimes America goes for the odd duck, like Jesse Ventura or Arnold, and just might elect Trump.
"In the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, Donald Trump is dead-last among all voters in net popularity and dead-first in poll after poll of just Republican voters. Meanwhile, the most popular thing in the news right now is Planned Parenthood, with a 45%-30% rating, but Planned Parenthood is what the Republicans have decided to attack.
So, as you might expect, the only thing they tested that is more unpopular than the Republican Party is their leading candidate, the loud-mouthed womanizing blowhard real estate developer from Manhattan."
"America goes for the odd duck, like Jesse Ventura or Arnold, and just might elect Trump."
But Ventura and Arnold won in statewide elections, not countrywide.
I find it amusing to read the TPers' support for Trump. Weren't they the folks who mercilessly criticized Mr. Obama because they said he had the thinnest resume for the presidency? I remember how they crowed about Sarah Palin's "executive experience" and why that made her much more qualified for the vice presidency and possible presidency than U.S. Senator Obama.
Now, in a complete reversal of what they say qualifies someone to be president, they're in love with a guy who has zero experience in public office, but who had a teevee show where he yelled "You're fired!" This, in their minds, makes him better qualified to lead the country--he's a businessman. They've forgotten what our last MBA president, George W. Bush, did to this country.
The TPers appear to have a sort of political dementia problem. They can't remember what they're for or against from one electoral cycle to another. The Trumpster, who hasn't articulated a single policy idea that he would implement as president, has them all in a teenage tizzy with his carnival-barking blather, full of show-biz antics, but signifying nothing.
