Senator Cruz's Preacher Daddy -- The One Who Calls Cruz "The Anointed King."

A commenter in the Sept. 26 post brought up the fact that some right wingers are claiming that the Pope is "political," as though the Pope is the only religious leader with a political agenda.

Now we know Ted Cruz's daddy isn't on the same level as the Pope, but Papa Rafael is the father of a man whose ambition is to be the leader of the free world. One would think that the guy who calls his son, Ted Cruz, "The Anointed King," might have some influence on him. The Pope would have ZERO direct influence on anyone of the contenders running for the presidency at this time, but Ted Cruz's father, should Cruz win the presidency? What do you think? He hasn't exactly hidden his agenda on this at all, has he.

From "If You Only News"

Senator Ted Cruz, who is running for President of the United States in the GOP primary, needs to keep is father, Rafael Cruz, on a leash. Because, if there’s anyone who is a bigger media whore than Ted Cruz, it’s his father, Rafael.

While at an event in Houston, the elder Cruz, who is somehow an ordained pastor, spoke to a group of right-wing homophobes trying to repeal an ordinance protecting LGBT citizens. Not only did Cruz attack the ordinance, he chastised the Supreme Court for its decision in June legalizing same-sex marriage, saying it had no jurisdiction to rule on marriage. It is because of Satan’s influence that conservatives must aspire to higher office, Cruz told the group.

But it was his stinging an outrageous attack on Houston’s openly lesbian mayor, Annise Parker, that took the cake in lunacy:

"It is appalling that in a city like Houston, right in the middle of the Bible Belt, we have a homosexual mayor. Why? Because so many people have been sitting in their pews or sitting at home with this business about ‘separation of church and state.’ "

Cruz then launched an assault on the separation of church and state, calling it a lie. Let’s remember one thing: the elder Cruz is a campaign surrogate for the Senator in Texas. He’s supposed to represent what his son believes.

Where is the right wing's outrage on Rafael Cruz's anti-Constitutional statements?
I recall the bilious anger that came from the righties over President Obama's Rev. Wright problem.  Mr. Obama left Rev. Wright and his church. Ted Cruz can hardly leave his own father, but he can speak out and refute the anti-Constitutional claims Rafael makes about church and state. It appears the right wingers' concern over what pastors say stops when someone from their tribe makes anti-American statements.

Talk is Cheap Mr. Rafael, If you like calling your son "The Anointed King" then you can take him and shove it.

But don’t put that on MY country and insult us and expect ME to keep my mouth zippered up. I don’t do that.

In this country, there is no place for politics in the church. A**holes like Ted Cruz may approve of this sort of theocracy taking over America, but I don’t!

The cartoon perfectly explains today's Tea Party GOP.

I thought that Revolution thing was about getting rid of kings. I'll second anonymous and say you get some nice cartoons.

The American Revolution was about getting rid of kings but Ted Cruz and his father believe Ted should be the Christian King of America!

TMA, we've come to understand that the extreme righties have no problem with clergy they agree with inserting themselves in the political arena. They sure hated it when the Catholic Pope made some political statements (except the one where he agreed with Kim Davis)! Ha!

Shaw Kenawe said...

Anon, yes it does.

Kevin, the type of King that Rafael Cruz anoints is perfectly acceptable to the right wingers who have a double standard.

Herion, is that a Greek god or goddess's name? Roman? I can't remember. But being "The Most Smartest Women in the Underwold" suggests you failed 2nd grade.

Oh FFS! Haven't we had enough of these phony religious wingers? Rafael Cruz and his annoying son Ted will never gain the White House. We wanker Americans may be dumb in a lot of ways, but we're not insane.

The righties hate the Pope, but say nothing about Rafael Cruz's hoping to make America into a theocracy? We know hypocrisy is rampant on the right, but this takes the swill!

BTW, Shaw, Herion is a goddess worshipped by the ancient Trumperians.

Ever get the sense the more vocal the voices of reason the louder the screeching of the screaming Mimi(s).

As far as I'm concerned the Pope was on point until he said life was from conception until natural death, that quote was a direct at the pro choice people. Not good on his part.

The Wank Files, never underestimate the gullibility of wankers.

RPL, Apparently the Trumperians, once thought to be an extinct sub-group of humans from the Permian Era, are still walking the Earth. One is even running for president!

RN, "...the louder the screeching of the screaming Mimi(s)." And the more atrocious their spelling.

Anonymous, I wasn't surprised at his statement because, "Is the Pope Catholic?"

From The Washington Post:

"Back in 2013, Democrats, and even a few Republicans had started calling the senator from Texas “Speaker Cruz.”

Boehner had another name for Cruz at a recent gathering in Steamboat Spring, Colo.: “jackass.” Sunday, on CBS’s Face the Nation, he added yet another: “false prophet.”

“The Bible says, beware of false prophets,” Boehner said. “And there are people out there spreading noise about how much can get done. I mean, this whole idea that we were going to shut down the government to get rid of Obamacare in 2013, this plan never had chance."

Boehner's statement perfectly reflects the cartoon in P.E.'s banner. The extreme right wing of the GOP are gullible jackasses and false prophets.

Speaking of gullible, one notorious right wing blog is all abuzz with a post that realizes maybe Fiorina is lying about Planned Parenthood videos.

Some of the reactions still blame the "left wing" media for slandering her.
I am shocked that some were able to get to the point that they actually questioned one of these doctored video blitzes.
They still want Planned Parenthood defunded but Fiorina may have lost her front seat in the clown car.

"...maybe Fiorina is lying about Planned Parenthood videos."

Actually, it's not a "maybe," even conservative FAUX NOOZ accused her of lying about what was on that video.

But Carly's made a decision to never apologize, never admit she's wrong on anything. A terrible, awful, arrogant trait for any human being, let alone someone hoping to lead the USA. She's basing her candidacy on vitriol and deceit, and just like most of the TGOP blogs, she's angry, angry, LOUD, and angry, and if she repeats a lie often enough, her followers will see her as a great leader.

Anger. That's the key.

I believe that the media has the far right base whipped into such a lather that all they understand is that they should be angry. Angry at the usual suspects.
It's gone on to the point that a significant number just want to be angry. It's almost pavlovian and introspection is absolutely impossible. There is no reason in their view to apologize.

Fiorina isn clearly not the only one playing on this anger. The explanation for her PP statements for some is that the police have the videos in their possession and they can't be seen.
What police? A municipal jurisdiction trumps a congressional investigation?
Any posts that several states have investigated and found absolutely nothing (Missouri the latest).
Nope. Just denial and anger.

It is intensely sad and if it reaches critical mass, dangerous.

It is at this point simply a yawn. At least for me.

Life will go on. One way or the other.

It is, it always has been, it always will be. Cyclical, until the sun dies or we destroy the planet. The later is likely.
