I don't try to change anyone's mind about Trump with my posts. I post here to document the atrocious Trump and his administration so that someday we can look back and shake our collective heads at the time 30 percent of America lost its moral compass and supported the worst president to ever sit in the Oval Office.
Once, long ago, the GOP admired all things military to the point of fetishsizing anyone or anything associated with military service. Not anymore. We listen in amazement to the silence in the GOP while its morally diseased president insults, demeans, and mocks a dead naval officer who spent five years as a POW in Vietnam. It's astounding that very few Goopers have come out against Trump's shockingly dishonorable behavior. None of the usual right wing blogs have said a word about it. Moral cowards. That seems to be the only group left in the Party of Lincoln these days. Moral cowards.
I write this to document once again Trump's determination to drag the GOP down to his petty, juvenile level where he never lets a grievance go unTwittered. And when he does so, the whole world sees what a small, jealous, inadequate human being he truly is.
Trump on McCain's funeral: “I gave him the kind of funeral that he wanted, which as president, I had to approve,” he told a crowd at an Ohio event. “I don’t care about this, I didn’t get ‘thank you’ that’s OK. We sent him on the way, but I wasn’t a fan of John McCain.”
Trump, as usual, is lying. He didn't "give" McCain the "funeral he wanted." Trump had nothing to do with it, except to supply Air Force Two to fly McCain to Washington D.C. for the honors and the memorial service he deserved, and to which Trump was barred, by order of the desceased and his family. This must be the core of Trump's jealously and envy. He was not allowed to be present at a very important national event to honor a national hero -- something that Trump knows he'll never be.
"Washington National Cathedral was honored to host the funeral service for Senator John McCain. All funerals and memorial services at the Cathedral are organized by the family of the deceased; only a state funeral for a former president involves consultation with government officials," a cathedral spokesperson said in a statement to The Hill on Thursday. "No funeral at the Cathedral requires the approval of the president or any other government official," he added.
I was no great fan of John McCain, and I blame him for his foolish choice of running Sarah Palin as his vice president. I'm sure he regretted having her on the ticket once her true character bled through the hype surrounding her introduction to big time politics. But despite the many issues I disagreed with McCain on, I never disparaged the suffering and pain he endured as a POW in service to America.
The GOP's president started his campaign by trashing John McCain, and Trump is still at it, this time mocking and trashing a dead man who cannot answer Trump's disgusting slanders. There's very little that is baser or more evil than that.
Trump must know that he'll never be as honored, as admired, or, as Megan McCain said, as loved as John McCain.
This is a truth, and it must haunt Trump's villainous soul.

He's a disgusting human being. What is lower than dissing an American hero?
But, if it were not for John McCain, we ALL could have had great healthcare and saved a trillion dollars. Additionally, I've heard that McCain gave the dossier to the FBI for "evil purposes". tRump might be lying, but - if not - this McCain fellow sounds like a really bad guy.
You are not a reporter of record. Future people will not be checking Progressive Eruptions for the definitive, true facts of history. Your ego is quite large to even make such a statement. You are certainly not an unbiased source of news, but keep posting your hate, it's amusing.
Dear Anonymous, why do you keep coming here? You're obviously fascinated by my opinions and what I write, otherwise, you wouldn't bother to keep returning and leaving your opinion. I'm glad I amuse you.
See you soon!
Judge Sanders, I leave aside McCain's politics in this post and condentrate on the suffering he endured as a naval officer for his country. It's that simple.
Clearwater, Florida, I couldn't agree with you more.
Good for you to keep a record of all the stupid horrible shit trump does. Someone has to do that dirty work. Good going.
Anon, the flying monkey from WYD is my guess.
Even if blogs are not a primary source for chronicling public events, they will be a source for the range of popular reaction to those events. Posts like this express the revulsion normal people feel for Trump's sniveling, petulant tantrum against the respect being shown to a far better man. And they help document that those roach-like moral cowards scuttling through the shattered hulk of the Party of Lincoln do not speak for the American people as a whole.
It was Congress that allowed McCain’s body to lie in state at the Capitol, and the Episcopal Church runs the Washington National Cathedral, where the funeral service was held. For his part, Trump didn’t order the flag at the White House to be lowered to half staff until almost forty-eight hours after McCain’s death, and he “stubbornly refused repeated requests from officials as senior as Vice President Mike Pence and John F. Kelly, the White House chief of staff, to acknowledge Mr. McCain’s death with a formal and unifying statement,” the Times reported at the time.
It should never, ever be forgotten what a resentful, self-absorbed, petty, and insecure husk of a man is occupying the Oval Office, and it never, ever will be forgotten. As he demonstrated again on Wednesday, Donald Trump won’t allow it.
You do amuse me with your egotistical opinion of yourself and the importance you think your biased tiny blog has. Now back to your less than dozen readers.

That's nice Dear.
Thank you for visiting again. You are among my most frequent readers and devoted fans.
we shouldn't even be mentioning John McCain's name in the same breath as Trump's. Trump's not worthy of being talked about with a war hero. Trump is a coward.
Infidel753, I don't know why people think keeping a blog is about getting hits. My purpose is to document for myself current events and other issues important to me, even some that are humorous and silly. It takes an immature mind to think everything thing has to be a contest of how many people read a blog.
I'm happy with the majority of the intelligent and thoughtful comments people leave here. I don't care how many or how few there are. That's not the point of having a blog. Apparently, Anonymous doesn't understand that.
I do occasionally let a dumb troll through just so we understand why Trump was elected president.

We know that TrumpCultists KNOW what a deplorable wreck of a human being he is. They will keep supporting him because their egos are tied up with Trump, and they can never admit what fools they are for sticking with him.
Angelo, I believe mentioning Trump in the same sentence with McCain actually points out what a disgraceful human being Trump is compared with a man like McCain. I speak of McCain's service to his country, not necessarily his politics, which for the most part, I did not agree with.
I will also say that it isn't surprising to those of us who know what it is to lose a spouse to see how cruel Trump's remarks about McCain are, especially to McCain's wife Cindy. Trump never took into consideration how it would deeply wound McCain's recent widow.
All we have to do to understand Trump's egregious cruelty is know that while his 3rd wife was caring for his newborn 5th child, Trump was having sex with porn stars and playmate bunnies.
Those are Trump's values where wives and mothers are concerned.
And his Christian Republican base loves him for it.
So Anonymous @11:17 AM hides behind "Anonymous" while he attacks you? Chickenshit, just like the Dotard-in-Chief he supports. Those are tRump's supporters, the Chickenshit Brigade.
Ray, "Anonymous" came back again hiding behind his name but I deleted his comment. He's had enough attention for today. What's hilarious is that he keeps returning to my blog complaining about what I post. Calls it "hate," when all it is is reporting what Trump says and does? Man, the Trumpistas are so unself aware and unintentionally comical.
Trump could never be the man McCain was and he knows it and that's why he lost his shit over McCain's funeral.
