For Your Consideration

From David Gray:

"I have to drive my two-year-old to daycare tomorrow morning.

To ensure we arrive alive, we won't take public transit (Oscar Grant)

I removed all air fresheners from the vehicle and double-checked my registration status (Daunte Wright), and ensured my license plates were visible (Lt. Caron Nazario)

I will be careful to follow all traffic rules (Philando Castille), signal every turn (Sandra Bland), keep the radio volume low (Jordan Davis), and won't stop at a fast food chain for a meal (Rayshard Brooks)

I'm too afraid to pray (Rev. Clementa C. Pickney) so I just hope the car won't break down (Corey Jones). When my wife picks him up at the end of the day, I'll remind her not to dance (Elijah McClain), stop to play in a park (Tamir Rice), patronize the local convenience store for snacks (Trayvon Martin), or walk around the neighborhood (Mike Brown.)

Once they are home, we won't stand in our backyard (Stephon Clark), eat ice cream on the couch (Botham Jean), or play any video games (Atatiana Jefferson)

After my wife and I tuck him into bed around 7:30pm, neither of us will leave the house to go to Walmart (John Crawford) or to the gym (Tshyrand Oates) or on a jog (Ahmaud Arbery). We won't even walk to see the birds (Christian Cooper). We'll just sit and try not to breathe (George Floyd) and not to sleep (Breonna Taylor)."

These are things white people simply do not have to think about."

I really don't see any humor in what should be American shame for this, personally. I guess you have to be one of those 'compassionate conservatives', huh?

Bluebullamerica, JoeCon likes to play the role of a wise ass.

I'm not sure about the "wise" part, though.

Hold people accountable for their actions no matter what side they are on. It is not OK to shoot an innocent person for just going about their normal lives but at the same time it is not OK to harm a policeman in any way. If they feel threatened they will respond so don't create a threat. This should not be a political opportunity but it is. ANTIFA should be held accountable for the destruction their "Peaceful" riots have caused. Trumpers should be held responsible for the destruction on January 6th. Some how it only seems to go one way because never let a good crisis go to waste.

Personal responsibility is something we too often ignore.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. federal prosecutors have produced no evidence linking dozens of people arrested in anti-racism protests in Portland, Oregon, to the antifa or anarchist movements, despite President Donald Trump’s assertions they are fueling the unrest.

July 2020, Portland police arrest 8 after rioters damage Democratic Party office, ICE facility following Biden's inauguration
Protesters took to the streets of Portland after President Biden was sworn-in.

"I've talked to every police chief in every city where there's been major violence, and they all have identified antifa as the ramrod for the violence," Barr told CNN this week.

"They are flying around the country We know people who are flying around the country," Barr said. "We see some purchases they are making before the riots of weapons to use in those riots."

No Sign Of Antifa So Far In Justice Department Cases Brought Over Unrest

No Sign Of Antifa So Far In Justice Department Cases Brought Over Unrest

None of the court documents from federal cases in Portland reference Antifa or any sort of broader anti-fascist movement or conspiracy.

In a few of the case files, there are references to apparent agitators. For instance, one defendant told authorities that he was handed a firework by a masked person in the crowd and told to throw it.

But there is nothing more substantial in the federal court record in Portland at this point to support the attorney general's assertions.

AP finds most arrested in protests aren’t leftist radicals

October 20, 2020

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump portrays the hundreds of people arrested nationwide in protests against racial injustice as violent urban left-wing radicals. But an Associated Press review of thousands of pages of court documents tells a different story.

Very few of those charged appear to be affiliated with highly organized extremist groups, and many are young suburban adults from the very neighborhoods Trump vows to protect from the violence in his reelection push to win support from the suburbs.

The reports of these killings is not that they are interruptions of the norm, but a manifestation of the norm. We should all feel rage in the face of such betrayals, in response to those who are numb to the terror inflicted on others, in response to those who treat others as disposable, in response to those who use their privileges to defend their own insularity or to stigmatize those who seek change.

Ms Shaw, I will attempt to contact ABC news and inform them that they made a error in reporting ANTIFA being identified in the latest unrest. I guess it is a moot point since joey said antifa was just an idea not a group.

As it relates to police violence, yesterday police admitted that the officer who shot Lt Nazario was only fired after the video of the officer's behavior became public. When asked about it, he demurred stating only that the video made it impossible for that cop to properly do his job.

Interestingly enough, many times the person attacked by the police indeed has a past record, has acted menacingly, or is in someway deemed to have broken the law. With Nazario, we had none of that.

Nothing... Zip... Nada... Zilch.

He drove to a well lit area, and politely asked the officer what was up. He explained he was afraid. And what did the police do? They escalated the violence.

Til they maced him, pulled him out of his car and cuffed him. For what was in the end, no legit reason at all.

And what do we hear from conservative blogs and news sources about this? Nothing critical about the cop and in some cases, ppl bemoaning the fact that more white ppl have been shot by police since 2020.

Somehow folks can't understand that a people group with 75% of the population would have more instances of police violence that a group that makes up 13% of the population.

My wife, who worked for BOA as a Senior Adminastrative Assistant until 2009, supported a black executive who had been a Sargeant in the United States Military as a younger man. During those years when he and his unit where traveling and were staying in a hotell one night the hotel put his unit in a select section of the hotel while putting their NCO in a scaled down roon in the back section of the hotel.

Now I may be not be the brightest bulb on the planet but. That scenario, which is actualky not uncommon, convinced me that America is indeed a racist country. Anr the WYD folks and the Mothership are FOS when they or anyone denies there is indeed ingrained systemic racism in America.

The actions of the police are indefensible and those who are accountable should be held accountable. I don't support the democrat led action of getting rid of all police because that would hurt poorer communities disproportionately.

I know blueballs supports riots and burning of small businesses but I would guess most people do not.

Skud, NO DEMOCRAT SUPPORTS GETTING RID OF THE POLICE!

Why do you write such foolish things?

What most fair-minded people want is equity in cops pursuing suspects.

I saw 3 videos today where a white man beat a cop and hi jacked his car, where a white man slammed a cop’s arm in a van and drove off with the cop being dragged, and cops confronting a naked man who had killed 3 people and was running from them. None of those suspects were shot and killed. All of those men were white and existed arrest!!!

Law enforcement has a problem. And I believe it’s a racial one.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Resisted arrest. Damn auto correct.

skudrunner said...

De-fund, dismantle just semantics. maybe if the police were paid more and respected they would not always be on the defensive. We ask them to make split second decisions that have life altering consequences on both side. Easy to say it is racism because everything is now days but in most, but not all cases, it is a bad decision made in haste.

For skudrunner who erroneously believes “defund the police” means to get rid of the police:

“Defund the police” means reallocating or redirecting funding away from the police department to other government agencies funded by the local municipality. That’s it. It’s that simple. Defund does not mean abolish policing. And, even some who say abolish, do not necessarily mean to do away with law enforcement altogether. Rather, they want to see the rotten trees of policing chopped down and fresh roots replanted anew. Camden, New Jersey, is a good example. Nearly a decade ago, Camden disbanded (abolished) its police force and dissolved the local police union. This approach seems to be what Minneapolis will do in some form, though the nuances are important.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The former employee who shot and killed eight people at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis was interviewed by FBI agents last year, after his mother called police to say that her son might commit “suicide by cop,” the bureau said Friday.

Hope you’re doing well.
