And then for The Former Guy to incite an angry mob of armed thugs to attack the United States Capitol Building to interfere with the certification of the electoral college vote is evidence enough to show that Donald J. Trump is a danger to American democracy.
SAN FRANCISCO — A Facebook-appointed panel of journalists, activists and lawyers ruled on Wednesday to uphold the social network’s ban of former President Donald J. Trump, ending any immediate return by Mr. Trump to mainstream social media and renewing a debate about tech power over online speech.
Facebook’s Oversight Board, which acts as a quasi-court to deliberate the company’s content decisions, said the social network was right to bar Mr. Trump after he used the site to foment an insurrection in Washington in January. The panel said the ongoing risk of violence “justified” the suspension.
But the board also said that Facebook’s penalty of an indefinite suspension was “not appropriate,” and that the company should apply a “defined penalty.” The board gave Facebook six months to determine its final decision on Mr. Trump’s account status.

I say a 15-year suspension. Then revisit the decision. :)
I'd ask this...
Can't businesses limit speech in their places of business?
If I go into a department store and start cussing or saying threatening things about people shopping there, what's gonna happen?
I'll be asked to leave or in some cases, be arrested by the local LEO's.
Why does anyone think Facebook is going to be, or should be any different from any other public business?
Zuck and his crew banned President Trump from spewing his bile in public in their business.
Why is that even mildly controversial? Or even an issue? It's what business owners across America do every day. And 100% legal. To say nothing of being for the most part, a sound business decision.
Freedom of political speech is protected under the 1st. Businesses have always maintained the right to restrict or limit activities in their businesses as they see fit. Unless it violates some specific law.
This is, or could become a very slippery slope that some unscrupulous politician/legisltor could use to their advantage. In fact laws prevent discrimination in how businesses do business. Envelopes can be pushed and they will.
That aside, incitement to insurrection is a crime and tRump ought to be banned fron all social media, mainstream media, and radio airways permanently. In reality he should be in a federal pen somewhere for the rest of his miserable rotten life.
It shouldn't even be an issue, as Mr. Miller says above. The right is always eager to side with business except when those businesses don't let them do whatever they want to do, like mask wearing, or in the case of Facebook, letting someone tell massive lies and spread division, violence and hatred.
Sadly though, the board said that it should be reviewed within the next 6 months, so I'd expect they get a LOT of pressure to allow King Clorox back before too long.

One simple reason why not reinstating the former guy was the right call...
HE JUST DOESN'T LEARN.
One thing that Trump has proven over and over ad nauseum, he doesn't follow the normal crime/punishment/corrective sequence we expect from normal folks like children or animals. Punish him? He doesn't care, he will always insist that he was in the right and that the punishment was unfair. It's just what he is. Once the punishment expires, he will revert to form. And not only that, he will act in retribution to those he thought "wronged" him. He is incapable of remorse and reverts to his normal mode, which means retribution.
Putting him back on the platform will only lead to worse behavior, because that's what and who he is.
He should be tombstoned and allowed to fester in his own nest."
The former guy has returned to "tweeting" on DotardBlog. aka a site he calls "from the desk of Donald J Trump". It even has a handy "donate" button if you're dumb enough to give money to the "Save America" PAC. Complete with the pre-checked box that makes your contribution recurring (the check box that many Dotard dupes fell for).
