General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."

William Barr says Trump 'actively sabotaged' Republicans with 'spiteful conduct' in the 2021 Georgia runoffs

" 'He actively sabotaged Republican chances by provoking a civil war inside the state party and encouraging his supporters not to vote. He gave control of the Senate—you could almost say he deliberately gave control of the Senate—to the Democrats,' Barr wrote."

This is the sort of behavior one would expect from a malignant narcissist, and it's the sort of behavior that defeated Trump.  His need to get even with those who would not bend to his will eventually handed the two Senate seats in red state Georgia to the Democrats. This is what happens when a aggrieved narcissist puts his needs above that of his party and country.

Grisham: Trump 'admired' Putin's willingness to 'kill whoever'

"Former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said that after working under former president Trump, it was clear to her he "admired" Russian President Vladimir Putin and his willingness to stifle dissent.

'I think he feared him. I think the man intimidated him,' Grisham said of Trump and Putin during a Tuesday appearance on The View.

" 'I also think he admired him greatly. I think he wanted to be able to kill whoever spoke out against him.' Grisham added that Trump 'loved the dictators' he met with on international trips during his four years in office, repeating comments she's made in the past."

One can only imagine Trump sitting in Mar-a-Largo, cheering on the death and destruction Putin is raining down on Ukraine. Never forget that Trump tried to extort Ukraine President Zelensky in order to have him dig up dirt on Biden.

That is exactly the behavior one would expect from a mobster. And Trump was never shy to play the mobster in international relations.

Never forget that there are millions of Americans who want this despicable anti-democratic, anti-liberty creep back in the Oval Office.

Why are the Democrats making this race so close? If they can't keep a criminal from winning the presidency, I guess they deserve to lose.

Perhaps you haven't heard about the laws being passed to make it more difficult for Americans, i.e., p.o.c., other minorities, and the elderly, to vote?

Perhaps you are unaware of how red states fight to keep gerrymandering so that they can ensure they are overrepresented in Congress?

Are you not aware how razor thin the Democrats' majorities are in the Senate and House? And that traditionally the party in power loses in the midterms?

The Democrats outvoted the Republicans in the presidential election by 7 million popular votes, so the Democrats DID keep "the criminal" away from the WH.

What do you propose the Democrats do?

A Russian airstrike destroyed a maternity and children's hospital in Mariupol, babies are in the rubble.

Putin is a terrorist.

Never forget that Trump called Putin "genius," "savvy," and "wonderful."

As humans refuse to learn. Damn the human race is stupid.

Given all that a crook like Trump shouldn't get more than 5%. Maybe Democrats should look at how they campaign and their policies.

Putin specifically targeted a maternity ward hospital in Ukraine. The images of charred newborns and dead mothers will be Vladimir Putin’s legacy forever. He is a war criminal for targeting civilians.

Shaw asked what should the Dems do...

That is the central question. First, they need better PR people. Apart from Jen Psaki pushing back everyday in the press room, who speaks credibly for the Dems?

They should go on FOX and proudly state what they are for and battle the lies. But that's the problem. Just as the GOP seems to only stand to oppose the Dems, the Dems also seem to only stand to oppose the GOP.

They should have broken the HUGE aid packages up into smaller offerings and dared the GOP to go on record on every single spending priority. Play hardball, just as the GOP has done.

Why did it take months to get a SCOTUS nominee? Were they not expecting it?

What are the Dems doing in down ballot local races? School boards? State legislatures? The answer... nothing. Why?

The Dems can win the White House, that's a given. Today. But after they get crushed in November, that will be in danger too.

The party needs some Sister Souljah moments. Why isn't every single Dem blasting away saying "defund the police" ain't gonna happen? Where are the Dems on Sunday morning trumpeting what Build Back Better has done for small town America? Ask every Republican who is critical of Biden's handling of the crisis in Ukraine what specifically they would do.

And finally, why is it taking so long to get public, televised hearings on Jan 6? Make these Republicans go on television and plead the fifth. Discredit Trump and the Ted Cruz's of the world.

Make them stand publicly and support, or abandon Trump.

It's a partial list...

And sadly, none of it is gonna happen. Because the Dems go to gunfights with butter knives.

Well at least Dave is addressing what dems SHOULD be doing. And, he is spot on.

There was a time when dems had cajones. The gop was obviously paying attention then. Dems have went soft and squishy. They will continue to pay the political price. Along with the country.

Rev, You said combat the lies but it was the democrats who pushed defund the police. It is the democrats who are responsible for rising fuel prices with their hate oil movement. Biden is in a no win with Ukraine and whatever he does is not going to be enough. As a country and world we have let russia build back bigger and badder so shame on us. When someone said russia is 20 years ago that set the tone for the country, ignore them and they will melt. Problem is that didn't happen. We spent 4 years blaming them for causing a hated candidate to lose. Now trump is being rightfully attacked but the entire focus is on him and not the world and US issues.

Now we need to give away more money to bring down inflation, really. We shouldn't remove unnecessary regulations on the oil industry to bring down costs and increase production, really. The rapid push to renewable energy and a maligning of the fossil fuels industry has helped create the current supply shortages that have sent oil and gas prices surging but of course the administration blames the industry.

The answer to down ballot voting is simple, people are tired of the we know better than you how to run your life and we have done such a shitty job of educating your children we deserve to lose.

When I joined the Democratic party back in 2000, I was shocked to see just how accurate a lot of the stereotypes about Democrats were true. While Republiclowns always seem to rally around their people, no matter how nutty, criminal or just plain stupid, Democrats seem to remain constantly fractured, thus allowing those stereotypes to further burrow into the narratives of the parties. At first I was disturbed by this -- shocked, actually -- but over the years I've come to see it as a plus. Sure, it doesn't help us at the polls much, but would I rather be with a goose-stepping chorus of knuckle-draggers and droolers or a party that actually has convictions and isn't afraid to battle ourselves to defend those convictions.
Yes, there are lots of times I wish we could speak with one loud voice and then follow through come Hell or high water. But, really, being passionate, informed and clear on the issues is, imo, FAR more American.

skudrunner is P.E.'s very own Eeyore. Maybe this will lift his spirits that are always in the dumps:

Brian Deese, Director of the National Economic Council,

Many people don’t realize this, but because of historically strong economic growth & policy choices, the deficit last year actually fell. By $360bn.

AND

Maybe even more surprising, we're on track to see the federal deficit fall by >$1T this yr, the largest nominal decline ever.

BluebullAmerica,

The Dems are not perfect, that's for sure, but their policies, in the main, match my values.

The Way It Is said...

"Amid tragedy in Ukraine, President Joe Biden has managed to unite an increasingly broad swath of Americans and the world..." Even in the US Congress. It's a big deal."

Remember all the people who admired Putin because he said he believed in "traditional family values" and because he claimed to support the Orthodox Russian Church?

These are his "traditional family values": "Injured mothers were evacuated on makeshift stretchers, while soldiers cared for children, after a Russian attack destroyed both a children's hospital and maternity ward."

This is what Donald J. Trump called "savvy" and "genius." And FAUX NOOZ Carlson admired.

Never forget what they supported and admired. They want us to forget. I won't.

So again, we need war to unite this country? What a sad state of affairs.

Why should I remember them? They are the same idiots who elected a criminal, bigot, racist to be president. We need to forget them and wipe them out of politics.

How do you propose "we" should wipe them out of politics?

That sounds quite Putinesque don't you think? Because you know there will always be people with their "idiotic" leanings

Or, the militants continue to agitate, further dividing brothers against brothers and sisters against sisters.

Until the human race fully understands and accepts we are all interconnected and interdependent the thorny issues confronting all humankind will persist. Including in our own country and affecting our own people. Recognizing the ego for what it is and putting it aside to to solve problems through open and honest discussion is absolutely necessary.

Looking deeply one realizes we are all essentially the same. We simply choose not to be aware of it so we can feel justified in treating those we disapprove of as the "other", usually in the most negative light. Thereby reifying our thoughts and beliefs so that compromise becomes near impossible.

Losing elections will not make differences go away. Nor will might makes right attitudes.
