Political chaos not seen in the chamber in a century.

Third Vote for Speaker Concludes Without a Winner

Kevin McCarthy Loses 2nd Vote for Speaker

McCarthy lost on the first ballot for Speaker of the House. That hasn't happened in a century!

Out of the 434 votes cast in the first roll call, Hakeem Jeffries received 212 and Kevin McCarthy received 203. (That does not mean Jeffries won; he was still short of the 218 majority.)

McCarthy doesn’t have the votes.
Scalise doesn’t have the votes.
Biggs doesn’t have the votes.

There’s only one man who can truly unite the Republican Party…

Neurosurgeon, Nobel Prize winner, and WWII hero GEORGE SANTOS.

This type of dedication, leadership and professionalism is exactly what many America voted for.

Righhhht...

For the first time in over a century, the House majority will not confirm a Speaker on the first or second vote.

Kevin McCarthy isn’t just awful.

He is historically awful.

McCarthy lost on the THIRD vote.

The "Pedro" troll is doing some hard drugs.

It is the crazies in the Trumpublican wing of the GQP that're making a once-in-a-century mess of finding a Speaker.

The Progressive/Liberal Dems have been united

But "Pedro," apparently tripping on funny mushrooms blames the "Progressives?" LOLOLOL!

Smarter trolls, please!

I'm going to stick me neck out and say there are most likely sane republicans who are turning independent and voting democratic. Some i'm sure already have.

Hey, where's RN? he's supposed to have the popcorn for us to pass around...

Three votes?

Tell me, anyone, why would anyone want to lead this party?

Wow… quite literally, a loser of the magnitude of Kevin McCarthy only comes around every hundred years or so.

On the heels of DJT it appears republicans are making a run to populate their party with many losers. Unless dems can stop the herd of charging dummies we'll be lucky if we even have a country a hundred years from now.

It's not totally impossible that they could end up with Jeffries as speaker. It would take five Republicans to defect and vote for him just to get this mess over with, or twelve Republicans to vote "present" instead of for a named candidate, lowering the total out of which a candidate needs an absolute majority. Very unlikely, but what else is going to happen? The flaming nutballs aren't going to just drop their objections and vote for McCarthy, and it's hard to see Jordan or Biggs getting 218 Republican votes. And if the Democrats are smart, they won't break ranks and vote for a moderate Republican (who would still have trouble getting enough Republican votes anyway). It would be worth it just to see all the heads exploding on the wingnut sites.

It's nice to see the Republican party falling apart after the outrageous policies they have pushed for decades. They will still come full force with their investigations against Democrats.
Joe needs a new and better VP to run with him in 2024.

Sorry Dave, this conservative/republican dysfunctionality has me eating all the popcorn. It would be hilarious were it not so pathetic and childish.

It is what it is and unfortunately there is no end in sight. Conservatives have no interest in governing. Let alone effective governing.

You might enjoy my to posts today. Or maybe not.

Les, I can't even call these folks conservatives. Morons is a more apt term, but why denigrate morons?

Conservatives implies a point of view, a governing philosophy, a reason for existing, wanting to serve, an action plan, platform or set of policies for the future.

The current GOP has none of it.

Yeah, hard to have any of that when your agenda is a chaotic return to the past and all the evils associated with it.
