Oh George! Or Anthony ! Or Kitara Ravache! Oh Whatevah!

Make this fraudster the symbol of the current Republican Party.

Squeaker of the House Kevin McCarthy put this clown on TWO House committees!

George Santos has been welcomed by the GQP despite being a serial fraudster.

Embattled U.S. Rep. George Santos was drag queen in Brazil pageants, associates say

George Santos admits to dressing up as woman, but denies he was a ‘drag queen’

"Republican Congressman, George Anthony DeVolder Santos said on Twitter last Thursday that claims "that I am a drag Queen or 'performed' as a drag Queen" are "categorically false," adding: "I will not be distracted nor fazed by this." (Republicans are increasingly denouncing drag shows and performers, claiming they are harmful to children.)

While Santos' drag performances aren't an issue per se, the reports—as well as his denial of the claims and now his admission—are likely to put the Republican Party in a very awkward spot."

Speaking of Drag Queens (and I happily attended many of their fabulous shows in Provincetown, Mass., when I lived on the Cape), here's another famous one:

Oh my, the distractions!

Does either party focus on real problems anymore? I mean really.

Since 2008 this nation has been heading south at ever increasing speed. In no small measure the result of conservative republican obstruction and chicanery.

This nation must be the laughingstock of the advanced industrialized world.

McCarthy represents the "leadership" of the republican party and he does it well. Certainly exposing the lack of gravitas and intelligence within the ranks of the Party of No.

Here's how Eugene Robinson of the WAPO puts it...

The people of New York’s 3rd Congressional District thought they were sending to the House a successful Jewish businessman who had attended an elite prep school, starred on the volleyball team at Baruch College, earned a graduate degree at New York University, worked at Goldman Sachs and Citigroup, founded his own thriving asset-management firm, and served his community by running an animal-rescue charity.

Instead, they got none of the above.

They got Rep. George Santos (R), or “Anthony Devolder,” or “Anthony Zabrovsky,” or “Kitara Ravache.” Whoever he might be, he is not remotely the man those voters believed they were electing.

And the leadership of the current Republican Party -- at least in the House -- have no problem whatsoever in putting this liar, cheat, and fraud on committees and pretending this is normal.

The current Republican Party a/k/a the Trumpublican Party is a disgrace to our country, and McCarthy is a weak and cowardly little man. Just like the guy he blamed for the J6 insurrection against the US and then went to Mar-a-Largo and kissed his prodigious posterior.

Les Carpenter said...

Normal becomes that which is beleived by the ones beleiving. Irrespective of truth or reality.

Republicans (as well as democrats) in leadership positions, as well as the religious leaders supporting the gop (and democrat) agendas, know and understand this. And, they manipulate and twist truth and reality to confirm to, and support their reified positions and beliefs.

As the Buddha said, and i paraphrase, do not believe what i tell you simply because i said it is so, first experience it for yourself. In other words rest in natural awareness and withold judgement. Or put another way judge not until you've walked in the shoes of the ones you would judge.

There are both democrats and republicans who are fed up with the self serving, short sighted selfish views of the ego centered American world view. Although there is actually no "ego" as it is generally thought of.

In simple terms... it's time the partisans of this nation figure out it is time to take it down many decibels and start simply observing and listening. If they do they'll soon realize we are all pretty much the same and really want the same from life. For ourselves amd our families.

This does not represent the whole Republican party as per their own denials of this behavior.

Most drag queens are easily recognizable as drag queens. Not so with Santos.

Yes. I've read that. But the LEADERSHIP in the GOP does not condemn this behavior and even rewarded it, so what are we to think except that it represents the LEADERSHIP of the GOP? Who does the leadership of the GOP represent?

Mike Thanks for the link. Will watch this for sure.

Les, Excellent advise from the Buddha. Thanks for posting.

What are the chances that we'll follow it?

As I told you in another comment (I think), my partner, who came here from England to attend a very famous school in Cambridge, Mass., also studied Buddhism, having left his Protestant religion behind. He often quotes what you've written here. I often read your comments to him. And he nods his head in knowing agreement.

Sorry Anon...

Your comment "This does not represent the whole Republican party as per their own denials of this behavior" is not supported by the evidence.

The head of the GOP is Donald Trump. He has said nothing of substance about Santos. The titular head of the House is Kevin McCarthy, he believes Adam Schiff is a bigger risk on a committee than the liar Santos.

The real leader of the House MTG, supports Santos and has not been critical.

Mitch McConnell has not called for Santos to be removed, or publicly voiced discontent.

The head of the RNC, Ronna Romney McDaniel has said nothing.

Not a single national leader of the GOP has disavowed Santos, called for his removal or otherwise been publicly honest with the country about the level of lying from Santos.

And in the partisan blogging class, which represents the base of the GOP, we can hardly find a critical article, post, comment or opinion.

How should we interpret this apart from this... by all accounts, from all vantage points, it looks like the GOP does not want to criticize Santos, accepts his lying and refuses to discipline a member of their party.

But hey... Al Franken.

Rev, It does look like you are going off the rails with this post. Saying trump is the leader of the gop is like saying the bernard speaks for the democrats. Small chance of that being true and the next few months will bare that out.

Santos is a psychopath who was elected because a lot of people did not do their due diligence, both sides of that coin failed the American people but that is New York. The appointment or lack of is politics in action. When did nancy or the democrats denounce schitt for his endless investigation of trump and russia that spent millions and proved nothing after he knew there was nothing there but said they had the goods which he knew was a lie. Did the democrats denounce smallwart for passing information to a chinese spy he was sleeping with. Did any democrat denounce nancy for breaking her covid restrictions. The answer is no.

Via Axios:

"Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) said Wednesday he was "shocked" when he discovered in 2015 that Christine Fang — a Chinese national who started working with him in 2012 — was a suspected spy who targeted him and other California politicians, as revealed by Axios.

The big picture: Swalwell is not accused of wrongdoing and immediately cut off ties with Fang after receiving a defensive briefing from the FBI, according to a current U.S. intelligence official. The California lawmaker told CNN that congressional offices don't have the "technical capabilities" to run background checks on the people they work with.

Swalwell, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, said the government needs to invest more in intelligence resources to ensure that foreign agents can't successfully conduct these kinds of operations.
What they're saying: "I was shocked. Just over six years ago, I was told about this individual and then I offered to help, and I did help and I was thanked by the FBI for my help and that person is no longer in the country," Swalwell said.

"[T]here was never a suspicion of wrongdoing on my part and all I did was cooperate and the FBI said that yesterday," he added.
Swalwell went on to suggest that the story was leaked to Axios by the Trump administration because of his criticism of the president and work on the impeachment inquiry as a member of the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees."

Skud, folks would take your comments a bit more seriously if you bothered to fact-find what you post here.

Swalwell DID NOTHING WRONG. WAS NEVER CHARGED WITH ANYTHING BY THE FBI. You comment is a slanderous statement, and unworthy of you.

What you wrote is a damnable LIE!

From CONSERVATIVE WaPo columnist, Jennifer Rubin. Try reading articles other than in the Washington Times, Newsmax, and FAUX NOOZ:

"House Republicans are right that politicization of the Justice Department has been a jaw-dropping abuse of power. They’ve got the wrong culprit, however. As a blockbuster New York Times article made clear, then-Attorney General William P. Barr and special counsel John H. Durham engaged in unethical, abusive manipulation of the Justice Department in pursing the baseless conspiracy theory that the intelligence community had conducted a witch hunt of then-President Donald Trump in connection with Russian manipulation of the 2016 election.

The Times reported that “the main thrust of the Durham inquiry was marked by some of the very same flaws — including a strained justification for opening it and its role in fueling partisan conspiracy theories that would never be charged in court — that Trump allies claim characterized the Russia investigation.” Durham brought two baseless cases, both resulting in acquittal. When Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s thorough investigation debunked their entire theory, Barr tried to pressure him to keep it under wraps. Then, as he did with the Robert S. Mueller III report, Barr publicly mischaracterized and trashed the report.

I hate to say this, but maybe it was a blessing in disguise to have Santos put into 2 positions. McCarthy is still seen by the tRumpers as a RINO, and is highly hated. This could play into our advantage. McCarthy's moves just might cause the GOP to self destruct on its own. We'll need to pinch our noses for now and see how it plays out. In the meantime, we need to focus on our local offices and put the right people into office to fight back and win. We have a huge chance to get bigly wins in 2024 and keep the power for decades or centuries to come if we play our hands wisely.

True Dervish. But given the dems track record its just as likely that they find a way to lose. IOW, shoot themselves in the foot.

Dervish and Les, in my opinion the implosion of the GQP is exactly what needs to happen in the here/now. In no other way will We The People reach those caught in the right wing cult.

I have to believe in the new Democratic Party elected at the midterms. From the Twitter posts I've read they aren't the Democrats I fled back when pork was the only topic of interest.

As for those trapped in the cult... I remember when I was in a cult and the cognitive dissonance was driving me insane. I wanted, no, needed the leaders to be who they said they were, not who I saw them as.. weak, lying, narcissist, and greedy. It was the greed that finally drove me out and into sanity.

I see the mental breakdowns of Trumpists and I see myself. The actions of the GQP under the leadership of the RNC will do nothing to sooth anyone in the cult. The Trump world is crashing, and to a person, they believe someone must pay. Only their targets aren't responsible for their delusional thinking. It doesn't help that most of the cultists are also Nationalist Christians. There is no help from their faith, their political leaders are exactly who they warn against, the accusations against the other are not working...

While I won't stop to put out such a dumpster fire of self created immolation, I won't watch as humans destroy everything in their lives because they can't admit to themselves that they themselves are the problem.

We The People need mega sized mental health facilities. STAT. Of course this is my opinion.

I have strong feelings that the republican party would actually be doing this nation a great favor if it actually were to implode. It is no longer a viable political party. It is a cult of wealth, greed, and power worship. Their horned devil is DJT. A disgrace of a human being, as well as well as being inept, crooked, and deceitful as anybody i can recall in modern political public life. Even RMN was not as egregiously dishonest and criminal as DJT has been.

Reagan was the one who started the lie that, government is not the solution, government is the problem. As he implemented Reaganomics. Thus planting the seeds that came to full bloom and fruition in the bloated polluted carcass of DJT.

Theall for me and only me mentality of the greedy cons in the GOP will, if not muted and eventually silenced, will result in tremendous social upheaval in the future. If that happens, even at 70years old i know i'll be on the front line fighting the greedy ignorant bastards.

This is our country too, and we have the majority. So as far as i'm concerned the cons can stick it where the sun don't shine. Unless they start acting like intelligent, thoughtful, compassionate, honest, and trustworthy people. Under current GOP leadership this is unlikely to happen. Current leadership themselves are liars and cheats.
