Trump's War

"The chairman of the American Conservative Union is defending lethal airstrikes that killed scores of Iranian schoolgirls over the weekend, acknowledging they would still be alive if the U.S. and Israel had not attacked Iran — but arguing they would “be alive in a burqa.”

Matt Schlapp made the staggering comment during Wednesday’s episode of “Piers Morgan: Uncensored,” where discussion of the now-ongoing Iran war eventually turned to the airstrikes on a girls school that killed up to 175 people Saturday, mostly children under 12."

And this witheringly vapid press secretary:

Reporter: "On the Iranian school, why did President Trump say yesterday that Iran may have tomahawk missiles when there are only three US allies, plus the US, that have those missiles?"

Leavitt: "The president has a right to share his opinions with the American public…"

(Opinions are not facts. Trump often doesn't know what he's talking about -- hardly the sort of person a country would want while waging war against a Middle East country.)

Thomas Friedman, NYTimes:

"Trump has been all over the map when talking about the morning after in Iran — and saying truly ridiculous and often contradictory things that reveal a commander in chief who is just making it up as he goes along.

One day it’s regime change, one day not; one day he doesn’t care about Iran’s future, the next day he will have a say in choosing the country’s next leader; one day he’s open to negotiations, the next day he is demanding “unconditional surrender.”

I thought the Middle East analyst Hussein Ibish summed up the Trump strategy in Iran concisely when he wrote: 'It goes like this: The U.S. and Israel bomb and destroy assets. Then (fill in the blank) Iranians will secure (fill in the blank) political change that will achieve (fill in the blank) U.S. war aims.' ”

Would you invest in a company whose leader, without warning, embarked on a radically new business strategy and then, in the next week, described its goals in five different ways? That is a flashing red light."

***************************

Trump mocked Gold Star families and dishonored the late Senator John McCain for having been taken prisoner in Viet Nam, and he called soldiers who were maimed or killed "losers and suckers." That's the CiC conducting this war. He wore his idiotic gold and white baseball cap during a dignified transfer and demonstrated how clueless and undignified he is.

This is a POTUS who picked a troop of unqualified cabinet members and who has accusations about him of pedophilia -- protecting a pedo, Maxwell, and engaging in such acts himself. What could possibly go wrong?

Not only is there no endgame, there is no understanding of who we are attacking. Trump won't be able to lie his way out of this because the economic aftershocks are going to be real.

Refrains we will be hearing soon when the junta is on trials for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Boston Globe, Letters to the Editor:

"Saturday’s front-page headline exclaimed that President Trump demands “unconditional surrender” from Iran, just days into what ... a police action, a military exercise, kinetic activity, or can we call it a war? Isn’t that what war is — when bombs are dropped and military personnel are killed or wounded? It sounds like a page from Vladimir Putin’s playbook about a “special military operation” into Ukraine, otherwise known as an invasion.

In the case of the US-Israeli attack on Iran, how many nations are militarily involved so far? At least 20, and counting. And before I forget, what are the objectives here anyway? We’re going back to a situation just like Iraq and Afghanistan — no plan, no exit strategy, another endless war. And Congress is OK with this?

Meanwhile there are reports that the Department of Defense has invoked a Christian nationalist angle in the administration’s efforts to subdue Iran, and perhaps bring about Armageddon.

Never mind regime changes elsewhere. We need one right here, at home.

The midterm elections cannot come soon enough.

Today is not a day for words. I will be doing other things but before I do there are a few ideas I must share.

It is not lost to me that those who've historically controlled the levers of power are all lost to the race of chasing a dancing target which remains just out of reach. If I am who I know I am it is my desire the target leads them all to what they believe is solid ground before they catch it. And then, ala Wiley Coyote, the dust clears and they are standing on nothing except a lot of air and the ground way far below.

Key: Dancing target = antiquated energy producing methods. Method of target animation = the power of greed and avarice ensuring one's competitor will not win. There exists an energy or power if you will in this universe that can not be defined using known methodologies. The minute one tries they imprint themselves on the energy, knowingly or not. It is the unknowable which stops the game of catch. It is force of For the Good of All and May it Harm None that leads the dance to the cliff. It is greed which blinds those caught in the chase. All they need do is stop, but they can't. Greed is a hell of a drug and sometimes the best cure is mercy.

That's it, all the words I've got. Tons of love though which I share with all of you.

The sickness that has overtaken America will not be easily treated.

It is a deep sickness of the soul of a nation.

A nation that once had a sense of compassion as well as a conscience.

One that understood what empathy was and that it is important.

This sickness was not created by Trump or any other specific individual.

It was the natural growth of a cancer known as greed and is carried by the oligarchs of Americab capitalism.

Greed enhanced by the rush of power lust. Trump is simply the figurehead of the disease.

Greed and power lust are fed by human ignorance.

According to the American oligarchs and the MIC:

Tis better to spend 200 billion plus waging an unjust and immoral war of choice than to spend 20 billion dollars to eliminate homelessness.

Better to worship the god of wealth/greed and control than to worship the god of peace, love for all of humanity, compassion, and empathy

Tis better to divide a nation than unite it. As it makes it easier to set up the us versus them mentality. Creating distrust betwen brothers and sisters.

The winners are always the wealthy and powerful. The oligarchs of unregulated capitalism and grift. And the power structures of the CIA and the MIC.

The American Empire is cracking under the leadership of Trump and the fascists oligarchs controlling him. The rest of nations of the world are beginning to see the outline of a new path to stability and peace. That path runs eastward, to a society and culture thousands of years older than the ours.

And America sleeps. Blind to reality as it is unfolding right before its eyes.

It isn't long before we woll see, with a tear in our eye:

RIP America -The Nation That Took Its Eyes Away From Doing What's Right

Where do we begin?

Maybe at the fact the US has decided not to be critical of Russia for giving targeting information on US assets in the Middle East?

How about the reason we are even at war with Iran?

Or if this is even a war, or not a war?

What are the stated objectives objectives of the war/non war in Iran?

Are we calling for unconditional surrender in Iran?

As we continue to kill Iranian leaders, who do we negotiate with in Iran?

Why did the Trump Admin, in August 2025, turn down the very technology from Ukraine for drone warfare, they are now asking from Ukraine to protect US forces?

Since POTUS Trump said the US "totally obliterated" the Iranian nuclear capability last year, how is it possible Iran was an "imminent nuclear threat" requiring us to start this war/non war?

Everyone reading this knows when a body passes in a flag draped coffin, unless you are military, you remove your hat out of respect for the dead. Why did Trump not do so? Why didn't any of his advisors tell him to do so? Why did FOX News run last year's footage of Trump at a ceremony when he did not have a baseball cap on, as opposed to the recent ceremony when he did?

Finally... many conservatives, the GOP and MAGA supporters, including those who comment here, have mocked and ridiculed POTUS Biden personally and professionally since Sept 2021 over the Afghanistan withdrawal. Why is it that crowd has been strangely silent over the utter incompetence, constant lies and excuses on the Iran War from the current President?

From what I've read in various news articles on the internet, the Trump administration miscalculated Iran's response to Trump's bombings. What is happening in the Straits of Hormuz is having a global effect. Read that again: The Trump Administration MISCALCULATED what the effects would be from bombing Iran, and they miscalculated Iran's response!

This is the result of Trump's foolish cabinet appointments -- most especially, Pete Hegseth, who was not qualified to lead the Dept. of Defense, and who has shown his inexperience through his damn-fool performative shenanigans that made the Dept. of Defense look like a war-time video game and a religious revival tent meeting instead of a deadly serious organization that holds the lives of millions of people in its hands.

NYTimes: "After Trump administration officials gave a closed-door briefing to lawmakers on Tuesday, Senator Christopher S. Murphy, Democrat of Connecticut, said on social media that the administration had no plan for the Strait of Hormuz and did “not know how to get it safely back open.”

Inside the administration, some officials are growing pessimistic about the lack of a clear strategy to finish the war. But they have been careful not to express that directly to the president, who has repeatedly declared that the military operation is a complete success."

"But they have been careful not to express that directly to the president, who has repeatedly declared that the military operation is a complete success."

This is how dictators are treated by their sycophantic lackeys. That's where we are. Trump has done everything he claimed his opponent in the 2024 election would do. He promised he'd be the president of peace!

Why do the American people continue believing a pathological liar?

When despots rule, they gut institutions and then surround themselves with yes men. Unfortunately you end up with a like minded group of individuals who spend days in an echo chamber.

The United States used to have wonderful institutions like the State Department and NSA that provided thoughtful and thought-provoking analysis to the US Congress and president.

No more, Musk gutted these along with all the other institutions of the US government. Then what happened to the high-ranking members of the NSA and State Department, now headed by a single individual? Is it no wonder no possible scenarios of what Iran would do and the United States' preparation for such responses were ever produced. Who was left to do them?

Shaw Kenawe said...

Trump does not have advisors, he has sycophants. They did not miscalculate, they did not calculate at all and went with their gut feeling!

Les Carpenter said...

The answer seems clear. Years of conditioning by right wing conservative politician (RWR is a great example), the greed of business moguls, the right wing media outlets (beginning with El Rushbo), and the lobbyists that stand behind and support the oligarchs, the MIC, and the Christian Nationalists.

Trump and his sycophants are merely the most visible symptom of the disease that is killing America.

Is the war real? Or is it just another Trumpian kayfabe-rication (like his six day war)?

Man, doesn't the Gang that can't Shoot Straight" have more important things to worry about? Now we have reports that some news photographers have been banned from Pentagon briefings because of "unflattering photos" of Sec Def Hegseth.

Why does he care? Isn't his entire focus supposed to be on war, defending the US and supporting our troops, as opposed to his good looks?

Les Carpenter said...

Naw Dave, Trump's vanity and the of his yes men sycophants are MUCH more important. As it is with all fascist authoritarian dictators and their regimes.

"When asked why he made the decision to go to war with Iran, the President of the United States gave us this: “The situation was very quickly approaching the point of no return and the United States found it intolerable, in my opinion, based on what Steve, and Jared and Pete and others were telling me.”

That sentence should be on the front page of every newspaper in the country tomorrow.

The President just admitted on camera that the decision to launch a military operation that’s now killed 8 Americans, over a 1000 Iranians, & 168 people at a girls’ school was made because his son-in-law, his personal envoy, & a former Fox News host told him it was necessary.

These are not military strategists; not intelligence officials. These are loyalists. They are the ones deciding who lives & who dies."

This is stomach-turning incompetence and stupidity.

House of Dynamite. Do you feel safer knowing the Trump Admin is in charge? And if you were not aware, it's a great movie on Netflix... but terrifying.

Seriously... I did not vote for John McCain, but in war I would have trusted his and Mitt Romney's Admins, were they elected. I still believe Trump wants what he believes is best for America.

Sadly, his view is not shared by a majority of his fellow citizens.

His Admin, and his MAGA/GOP/Conservative followers are from the "Bomb them back to the Stone Age crowd". Sadly, they have no clue how to handle the fallout. Really, they might be worse then the Ramsey Clark boys from Vietnam.

But here we are.

Isn't wonderful how the Iran War has created an oil crises in Europe that can now be solved by making peace with Russia? Before the Iran war, europeans wanted to keep on fighting in Ukraine. Now, not so much.

Dave Miller said...

Joe is probably correct about "Faces". Cabinet marching orders come from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Period. And Trump had a "Face" in mind for his appointees, rather than an expert, someone capable, etc.

What mattered, and still matters, see the Mullin nomination if you doubt, was the "look", over competence. For his TV mind and maybe even because insecure people are not big fans of experts, experts or otherwise skilled ppl around them that expose the fact the emperor has no clothes.

Again... "House of Dynamite". Watch it.

No, it is not wonderful in any sense of the word. But certainly there are those conditioned deluded folks who believe the Israeli and Trump regime unjustified, illegal, and immoral war of choice is a wonderful thing. Cultists and war mongers of course always support the reprehensible whenever it aligns with their desires an ignorance.
