REPUBLICAN BILLBOARD IN ORANGE COUNTY, FLORIDA

Oy.

Please don't vote for a Democrat? OOOouuuuuch! The stupidity, it burns!!!!

In addition to being grossly tasteless and crude, who was president when September 11, 2001, happened? And which political party does he belong to?
Jan 20, 2001 Bush Inaugurated

Jan 25, 2001 Richard Clarke sends Condi Rice memo, warning about al Qaeda. Rice does nothing.

August 6, 2001 Bush gets memo titled "Bin Laden Determined to strike in US." Bush responds by telling the briefer, "All right. You've covered your ass, now." Then does nothing.

September 11, 2001 Bin Laden strikes in US.

If these people were any dumber, we'd have to put wheels on them.

These people have no shame and will go to any disgusting length to get what they want. It's like running a political campaign against the mafia.

handsome: Your comparison between the GOP and organized crime is apt.

Shaw: Do I need to take the timeline back to when Osama started the planning and discuss who was president then? Didn't think so.

Having pointed out that it's not one party's failing, the sign was dum (misspelling intentional).

HBW: Of course they don't. They picked McCain.

Libhom: I thought organized crime was backing Democrats, especially the Chicago Machine.

Patrick,

That doesn' excuse Bush. Not one iota. He took the reins of the government and had all the power of the FBI, CIA, NSA and military in his hands to deal with Osama--even correcting what you believe was the dereliction of duty by Clinton. AND HE DIDN'T DO IT.

He was the president for NINE MONTHS when we were attacked. Not Clinton.

What kin of wuss blames someone else for his mistakes. I'll tell you, a weasel who won't take responsiblity for his failures.

Sorry.

Obviously, I'm talking about Bush vis-a-vis the wuss and weasel, not you, just in case that is not clear.

Those terms would never apply to you.

Here's the difference: I don't blame either Clinton or Bush for failing to go after Bin Laden pre-9/11. Before we watched it live, did you, or anybody you know actually think terrorists would do what they did? I know I didn't. But afterward, I've switched mindsets and come up with all kinds of creative ways terrorists could hurt the country.

To quote NASA's explanation of the loss of Columbia, it's a "Failure of imagination." Except for the occasional skeptic or insider who may figger it out, most of us, from fantastically unhumble bloggers to Presidents don't see what will happen until it does.

In fact, much of our advances and successes have come only after a disaster that could have been prevented had we acted. In that, Presidents, who have to endure unending pressure from their opposition, their own party, and a group of advisers who may have different priorities, often take the politically safe road until a true crisis or disaster emerges. Then, if they possess the mettle, they will act decisively and well.

By the way, why are you apologizing? Am I finally getting through to you, so much so that you have to break out the CYA statements that I use too?

...did you, or anybody you know actually think terrorists would do what they did?

The bombing of the WTC in 1993, 37 days into Clinton's first term, may have indicated what the terrorists wanted to do to the US.

...unhumble bloggers to Presidents don't see what will happen until it does.

Unhumble bloggers, like me, do not have access to intelligence from foreign and domestic sources, nor do we have the military advising us. Presidents have much, much, much more input on threats than anyone as unhumble as I.

in indiana, obama is running an ad with senator lugar, a republican, to woo hoosier voters. i wondered how long it was going to take. It makes me wonder if he is starting to realize how close he is on the polls and is scrambling to get the numbers to swing back.

Actually, Lugar and Obama are quite friendly. They sponsored and got this legislation passed:

Lugar-Obama Nonproliferation Legislation Signed into Law by the President

WASHINGTON – President Bush today signed the Lugar-Obama proliferation and threat reduction initiative into law.

Authored by U.S. Sens. Dick Lugar (R-IN) and Barack Obama (D-IL), the Lugar-Obama initiative expands U.S. cooperation to destroy conventional weapons. It also expands the State Department's ability to detect and interdict weapons and materials of mass destruction.

I remember when Obama started tagging along for Lugar's trips to Russia was a very good idea. I thought it showed promise ... but like most things I was disappointed. Sorry for the cynical statement.

AnonyShaw: And on goes the quote war:

The bombing of the WTC in 1993, 37 days into Clinton's first term, may have indicated what the terrorists wanted to do to the US.

And how did Clinton address this over the 8 following years? My point exactly.

Unhumble bloggers, like me, do not have access to intelligence from foreign and domestic sources, nor do we have the military advising us.

And NASA knew about the foam from the external tank. Again, it's not necessarily the intelligence, but a failure to imagine the worst and then act.

Or ruthlessly misquoted for pure humor. See below.

Actually, Obob had a link about Blogger messing with anti-Obama Democrats.
