A message to my blogging friends:

Thank you, everyone, for your fine contributions to this comment forum.

Unfortunately, a catastrophic event has just engulfed my family, and I'll probably not be blogging for a while.

(O)CT(O)PUS take the reins!

My older sister suffered a stroke that will probably end her life. In the early summer of 2009, I lost another sister. I understand that life brings these awful events to us all, and that we have to find the strength to get through the pain and suffering as our loved ones slip away from us. That's what I'll be dealing with over the next few days.

(O)CT(O), you have the keys to the blog. Use them as you wish.

Please keep me and my family in your thoughts. I'm not a religious person, but I do need the comfort and the support of my blogging friends just now.

Thank you.

Shaw - I am deeply saddened to hear this.

I will keep you and your family in my thoughts during this difficult time. I too am not a religious person, however I do believe there is such a thing as spirituality and it is my hope my thoughts will in some small way give support.

Dearest Shaw,
This is awful news and I am so sorry. I'll do my best to keep the blog flowing, but please know this place is never the same without your magic touch. The Zone community stands behind you.

Most of us here, I'm sure, have felt the incomparable pain of losing loved ones and there's nothing we can say that will make it any less painful, but we are all thinking of you. Time brings some perspective and the sad things that happen come to seem as if they were bound to happen, but the deep sense of loss remains, and it changes us. May you find strength and calm in this time of sorrow.

I can't improve on such eloquence, but many people are thinking of you and I'm one of them.

What you wrote here at this time in shaw's life is what real hate is all about. What is wrong with you people?

Shame on you.

Shaw, so sorry to hear about your sister. Our thoughts are with you.

I hope someone gets rid of that disgusting, hate-filled comment.
